Thank you :-) And nobody is supposed to be clubby those poor helpless seal cubs! IMHO.

Here's something many have seen, um, heard before:

    ..."Hit the deck!"

    That's a pretty big bird.

Good news is I found a way to get a tea sampler set.  Bad news is that there is only enough tea in each of the bags in the sampler for one cup.

Samplers are a waste of money Imo. I need more than 1 cup to get an idea of if I want it or if I'll get tired of it quickly. Once I find something I like I tend to buy it by the pound. I go through it quickly. I drink a lot of tea. I use to be a coffee drinker and it started messing with my stomach so I switched to tea and haven't had a problem sense. I bought an electric kettle and a French press and the combo of the two makes great tea. The electric kettle boils water in around 3-4 minutes so no messing with the stove for 15 minutes.

...I usually buy a box of this:  Lasts a couple months.

My kids showed me that on a TikTok... pretty bizarre sound... When I was very little, my step grandfather had a pet store, he liked exotic birds a lot and he had one that when it got excited, it made a sound like a bell or metallic "clang"... it was weird... I don't even remember what it looked like really, but the sound was freaky because it didn't look like it should be coming from that bird.
Still, wasn't as freaky as picking up a three foot long armored catfish that hissed and vibrated... I thought I got an electric shock... I would have probably dropped it if I hadn't been warned they do that first.
The first time I saw a Madagascar Cockroach, nobody told me they hiss... I was like WHATTHEACTUALFUGGISTHAT??!!... I pulled my hand back so fast I must have broken the sound barrier...

I find it unsettling when animals don't understand what sounds they are supposed to make or that they are fish and fish don't make sounds.

I used to set "trot" lines to catch catfish in the crick behind my house when I was just a sprat. Some of the catfish can make a grunting sound, I found out to my surprise. True story.

I found a 3D-scanned model of one 'o the dinosaur figurines I have!
Obviously it's not going to make for a good animated model, but it's still neat to see it in 3D as it is~

According to my local news station, the storm is supposed to pass 50-100 miles off of Montauk Point (the far East tip of LI), so if that's true, hopefully that's less disturbing, but there is still a hurricane warning...  Whatever... they seem more jazzed about a butter statue some kids made.

In the meantime, I just got an automated message from my insurance company (which I've never gotten before) telling me to board up my windows and expect power outages and only turn to cannibalism when absolutely necessary.

A little late for that last one.

Oh well... but seriously, there is no happy middle ground is there?

These model tracks should give you an idea of the range of possiblities and are a sort of middle ground:

     https://www.tropicaltidbits.com/storminfo/#08L

    Stay safe.

I'm not liking those storm paths... they are aren't what I was hoping for... basically most of them are heading through my area...

Do you have some better looking ones?

Something where it goes out to sea completely and doesn't make landfall?

    No?

    Crap.

Also... if this goes through my area it's heading up to Massachusetts where DanaTA is... I hope he's gonna be okay too.

    And Misty too... Be safe.

For storm path corrections, print out the map and draw on it with black marker the path you desire and tell enough people, and all the organized positive waves will swerve the path.enlightened  Well, at least that was the theory.frown

It's true that if you count on something happening hard enough, it will refuse to manifest. Just spend lots of money on supplies because the storm "will definitely hit you" and it should swerve away.

Complaint: I've brought a headache upon myself. Actually two. One is literal, and the other is the mess I made of the kitchen. So much stuff has been evacuated from the ajacent room, pending renovation, I almost don't have floor space left.

thanks.  i found a listing for St. Catherine of Siena Hospital

Why is drinking a gallon of sleep inducing tea a bad idea before bedtime?

Because you may sleep through the part where your bladder needs to get rid of a gallon of used tea?

I had a dream about being in a car that is being tossed in the wind.  In the dream I was too afraid to look out the car window.

    A reasonable precaution.

Well, thanks for the well wishes... they seem to have worked... Henri moved away from the center of Suffolk (my county and the eastern half of LI) and broke down into a tropical storm, it will barely touch Montauk (the eastern tip of LI)... maybe we'll see a little temporary flooding and manageable wind damage... But nothing like what was predicted.

Yep, you all will probably see a lot of rain today. but it could have been a lot worse.

Yup, nooooo complaints here in that department.. I'm very happy it pretty much dissolved into a tropical storm... it seems it's lost a lot of strength, which I'm happy for... I felt bad wanting it to turn away, because then it's just someone else's problem, and who knows if they are going to get it worse... but it fizzling out is the best scenario.

Apparently one has to remove the plastic on the ink before trying to print with it.  I hope I learned that.  I think I did the hard way today.

...those two items are not good to have go out.

Ugh, more heat and humidity, sounds dreadful  Here it's been more like Fall since Friday with temps barely reaching the low 70s.  Actually had to go into the back of the closet to pull out some long sleeve shirts (may even wear one of the flannel ones today) as evenings get somewhat chilly (low 50s).  Wish I could send some of this lovely September-like  weather in exchange for some of that rain y'all are getting.  Going continue to be dry here all the way into September. We need like a week of soaking rain to reduce the fire danger..

I pretty much assume that any message I get on Instagram from someone I don't know is going to be some kind of sex thing, and this one didn't disappoint.
