Ever since I posted a poll as to whether I should released my personal renders as a subscription gallery or a premium gallery, I've had no new watchers. How can you make money out of something, when none of your own supporters will support you... My Mum says that she's gets frustrated when I bad mouth myself/my work (low self confidence), but it's so hard not to, especially when stuff like that happens.

    I wanted to open a Kofi account. I don't think I'll bother.

From my experience (Personal and from what I've seen from friends and their experiences), a lot of people prefer free-to-view galleries unless the content is REALLY something they want to see, and even then the idea of "paywalls" is almost guaranteed to put people off, when an entire gallery gets stuck behind it.  With that said though, I figure what you experienced there was just a coincidence - watches come and go and its such a fluctuating thing. Now if you lost a number of followers right as you posted that, then that'd be another matter xD

I can't speak much for Ko-Fi since I've barely used it, but an idea for DA's premium galleries - or a Patreon should you go that route - would to be to have bonus stuff put there instead of fully exclusive things.  With mine, that means larger resolution images or 'alternate versions'  (different angles, lighting, etc)  to a publically available image.

...never understood what a "subdragon" really was.  There are "sub-species" of dragons like wyverns, cockatrices, basilisks, hydras, sea serpents (the latter which "submerge") and fairy dragons.  Never read of a "subdragon" in any fantasy literature or encountered one in a fantasy role play game. Very young dragons were usually referred to as hatchlings.or wyrmlings. but nothing that had "sub" in the name.

    Must be a Daz thing.

..but a "sub-division" is defined as:

an area of land divided into plots for sale.

    So I guess it's a suburban dragon?

Sadly, I think a lot of followers just like things for free.  Everybody thinks that everything on the Internet should be free.  They think they deserve it.

    You mean, like this?

I'm now working with seven engineers at my office.  Five are designing projects to repair and overlay roads and two are Stormwater.  I have been joking and teasing that I'm just going to have to throw a dragon in a hardhat and vest to help repairs our roads.  Figured it was time I made good on that.  Reld here is being remarkable patient as he waits for the rest of the crew to show up and help him repair this section of road.

I've had scenes with plenty of plants render quickly before, not sure why this one is taking so very long.

Sped things up when I read about RS's proxy objects,  only problem is unlike the tutorial I'm watching, the Matrix object won't show the trees in the scene, only the render. I followed every step just like they did and nadda. From what I can gather it's basically a specialized MoGraph Cloner object, but despite mirroring it as closely as I could with the original cloner, the scene doesn't line up - and I can't easily tell where things will end up being because it won't show up in the viewport :(

    Aaahaha that is perfect <3

I actually adore stuff like this, it's so much fun~

Addendum to the complaint about render time earlier:   I looked into Redshift Proxy objects, which I thought were irrelevant since "But doesn't MoGraph cloners set to Render/Multi Instance do the same thing?"  and converted my scene into using those.  The scene rendered at the very least sixteen times as quickly afterwards.   So I guess I'll need to keep that in mind next time I have a plant-heavy scene haha

...umm yeah, which is why I'm still on nearly decade old tech (5 years old for the GPU).  Being on a tight budget is tough enough and when you finally get a little bit ahead but prices spike at the same time, it continues being just as tough.

Was watching a tutorial on texture editing and saw the CC Photoshop has a "Puppet Warp" tool which seems really cool, but not cool enough to make me want to abandon my old old old old old old copy of CS5.

Non-complaint: Wheee... a mini-adventure!smiley  Finally found someone to take me to the laundromat.  Clothes are clean again.  Yay!yes  Also, after she picked me up again we went for lunch at a little family owned diner.  Good food.yes  Then we were off to a household sale where I found a wonderfully aged, deeply padded, leather recliner chair.  It was priced at only $150 and I know that type of chair sells for well over $1000.  I even sat in it and luxuriated in the deep padding and working mechanism.  Wheee... heart UNFORTUNATELY..., it was on the 3rd floor and would have to have been partially dissassembled and manhandled by two strong young men down the two flights of steep, narrow, twisty stairs.no  I tried to pull in some favors, I found a transport vehicle and driver but we couldn't find a pair of strong young men who would work for peanuts.no

Complaint:  So, in the end, for those reasons and because the color was forest green, I decided against it.sad

Non-complaint:  But it's not a bother because I have a comfortable recliner (cloth) but what I really want is a real leather office desk chair.  No more of these disgusting, fake leather fabrics that develop mange or eczema after a couple of years of use.  Little bits of the surface flake off and stick to my clothing and fall off everywhere in the house making it look like big flakes of forest fire ashes litter my house.angry

So I just was doing postwork on an image I rendered when I noticed the campfire flame is actually floating in the air a bit  v_v

Was looking at it from a zoomed out distance so I didn't notice it until I started looking at it full view.  It'd be re-doing a four hour render to fix that, since I'm not sure it's something a spot render could address due to the lighting it emits (As well as the multipass channels being thrown off as a result of the move)   Unsure if I should redo the render or just deal with it... Leaning on a re-render if only because it'd look more 'correct'.

    They're old but loved :>

On a side-note, I found the problem with the fire floating.  It was the fact that I had the campfire emitter's "Initial State" set to a certain area then moved the geometry later on since at some point the camp props ended up in the air a bit somehow. So I moved it down back onto the terrain and that made the fire's initial state misaligned from where it should have been. Letting the simulation run for a few frames it ended up correcting itself since the flames are emitting from the surface of the logs as it should be.

Just have to re-render it to fix though oh well.

Complaint'plaint:   So I realized I neglected to change the timeline resolution in Resolve to match the render's,  so I do so and the program kind of just stalls and I force-quit it.  Reloading it, I found all the editing I did in the Fusion tab was gone.  I'd been saving while I was working in Fusion so I know it's not a case of "Oops forgot to save ohnoes!"

Aaah well,  was going to be starting over anyway... :v

...yeah the game was moved to Jacksonville because of the situation in New Orleans after Hurricane Ida.  Much of the city is still without power and there is a boil water advisory as pumping and purification stations are offline.

GB not starting off very well, only 13 yards of offence halfway into the 1st quarter, went 3 & out. having to punt.  Saints have been moving downfield effortlessly and are in the GB red zone and now 1st * goal at the 6 (GB defence looks absolutely atrocious, looking about as bad as they did in pre-season play).

At least my Milwaukee Brewers swept Cleveland today gaining an extra game in the 2nd place Reds (who lost to St. Louis) and are now 14 games behind the "Brew Crew".

    ETA:

New Orelans just scored a touchdown, oh well.  At least Minnesota lost to the "Bungles" in overtime.

Complaint:  I've just completed a spreadsheet identifying all the parts, prices, dates, sources, comments, etc. that compose each of my three major computers that I bullt over the last 2 and half years.  The total purchase price for all the major devices (not including cables adapters, etc.) in each computer tower are shocking, surprise

Non-complaint:  But it's nice to know that the price actually falls into range as similarly capable machines found in the on-line catalogs.  And I'm pretty sure I use higher quality parts in my system and lots of other little minor improvements.yes

    Complaint...

So today I went to see some friends that we only have hung out with once since the pandemic... the last time it was at a gathering, today it was just our two families...

We are sitting in the yard just BSing and I guess the whole time I was aware of the sound of what I thought was a large outdoor party going on maybe a few blocks away (it's a subdivision/gated community, so whatever works out as blocks in one of those)...

Suddenly there is the unmistakable sound of a struggling jet engine fighting to not flame out... in fact, it sounded exactly like two engines at full throttle, with one popping and flaming out and trying to restart...

We all rushed to the other side of the deck, me expecting to see an airliner nosing down at full speed into the woods nearby (the house is a stone's throw away from LI's. MacArthur airport)... I yanked my daughter off of the bench she was standing on, expecting a impact related shockwave to come our way...

But the sound went on for way too long... after a good enough period it was clear it wasn't a plane... my friend said he'd never heard that around there before... So after a minute or two a neighbor sees us standing there and informs us it's a truck show going on nearby... I'm guessing it was a Drag Truck with jet engines similar to Shockwave (a three engine jet drag truck)...

How the effing hell are you are running a friggin' jet drag truck at a pretty obscure and not to well advertised truck show in a mostly residential area THE DAY AFTER 9/11?!!?

I texted a friend who owns a Freightliner dealership and is very up to date on these things and he didn't even know about it.

My friggin adrenaline got so ramped up (apparently so did one of my daughter's who is a lot like me), I was running through every scenario about what to do should it land in the area, am I going to have to drag people out of burning houses, how will I get through the woods to find survivors if there are any... it's gonna suck to see carnage like that again.... ughrrr!... it's three hours later and I'm still wired...

    F**k.

I know it's stupid, but you really should have heard it and since I've heard damaged aircraft struggling to stay aloft before it was really disturbing.

Worse yet, there are people who live in that neighborhood who were at ground zero on 9/11... I can only imagine how traumatic that could be if they didn't know about that truck show.

I probably should have a drink or six, but afterwards we were discussing pandemic related nonsense (my friends are both doctors, so they are going nuts with this stuff) we were all kinda fired up about that too, so I'm not sure if having a drink would calm me down.

    Ugh...

    Bad timing, but still...

Toads are frogs; there is no taxonomic distinction between the two.

Maybe not but toads live most of their adult lives on land ,have dry rough bumpy skin and exude a toxin when attacked which will either kill the dog or cat that ingests it or make them high as $heet !! Frogs on the other hand spead most of their adult life in or around water ,damp , moist places, they have sleak smooth skin and their legs taste like chicken , then there are tree frogs who dispite being called tree frogs will invaribly land on the person who is most afraid of them ........ once had carpet frogs when I lived in Florida , little tiny frogs that would get in the house in to the carpet end up covered in dog hair and mummified ,unless you caught them and put them out

    @Gordig : I didn't know that.

@carrie58 : Going by your description, Bullwarg sounds like a toad...?

I wonder, if frogs legs taste like chicken, would they give me indigestion like chicken does...

I think I might lick a toad. That way I'll be too high to notice the bs going on around me.
