I accidentally got someone else's hot dog buns.  I didn't mean to use them but now I feel bad.

I'm assuming you got them delivered by some service?... If you feel bad, you can notify the service and let them know there was a mistake and that before it was realized, the buns were used... this way it makes it easier for the rightful bun person to get a refund or get rebunned... or not, these things usually work out...

I feel like I've asked this 57,000 times and I promptly forget afterwards...

How do you link to a YouTube video so the video shows up on the page, so that someone can veiw it here without going to YouTube... I can only post the link, I'm obviously doing it the wrong way.

I think I just grab the URL of the YouTube clip and paste it directly into the forum compose window on a line by itself or at least at the beginning of the line.  I think, ... <testing>

    Yup!  Worked for me.

Copy the URL from your browser window, paste into the forums. If it appears as a link, simply right-click it and "unlink".

Blegh, it's the stupid iPad and Safari... I have to embed it using Firefox and then edit the embedded code to remove extraneous info...

Thanks... I'm leaving a note to myself at the OT Images thread so I don't forget how to do this...

no it is a housemate's buns not delivery.

Select the text, then click on the "unlink" icon, which is in between the link and the flag.

  • McGyverMcGyver Posts: 7,066

    Trying Gordig's suggestion...

  • McGyverMcGyver Posts: 7,066

Okay that worked... thanks a billion!... now I'm gonna go back and edit my stupid workaround to include this.

When doing fluid simulations that fill a 'tank' off the bat, like say a pool or something,  I always got to remember one simple thing:  Make sure that "Emit All Frames" is disabled before I do anything at all, especially before trying to cache the sim. So far, I've struggled with remembering to do that and neither Cinema 4D nor my computer are very happy about it.

Feeling not-nauseous is always a good thing.

You could also set the emission type to "shot" if you don't need to simulate the fluid pouring into the tank. What I've done before is set a primitive like a cylinder as the emitter with the emission type set to shot, and all that's needed for the simulation is for the fluid to settle.

Oh-oh... I hope that isn't a problem... Otherwise just replace them with a new bag and say sorry... if that works.

    Good luck.

In other news, I just got my first shot of the Moderna vaccine. I always intended to get vaccinated (and everyone who's able to should), but didn't get it until now for...no real reason, I guess. I rarely leave the house and am rarely around anyone but my wife and her brother (my podcast co-host), so maybe I just didn't feel any sense of urgency.

Right now it's a 'Regular' emission type in a box shape, set to only emit to the first frame.  I spent most of the day just trying to get something to come up out of the water to no real avail (Mostly just got big blobs and stuff) so gave up on that and went for a static image; spent the rest of my day trying to nail the material on the water and have the caustics look nice xD

When tweaks take minutes or longer to show up, and I have only a vague idea of how to approach something if even that,  it means a long time spent waiting for stuff to happen.  But I've only just started using the plugin recently, and I've never worked with caustics in Redshift before either, so that's a given I suppose.

Need to learn more about optimizations and stuff too though haaa...

Out of curiosity, are you rendering the fluid as-is, or using the openVDB mesher?

Hi All! Computer crapping out on me. I've got a new machine on its way. RTX graphics so I went for a render bear this time. Supposed to be here Friday. Ta!

OpenVDB combined with xpOcean in Deformer mode,  and in cases like this I don't know if I need the whole volume filled or if the traditional old "just a little cube over the top" is enough for an 'accurate' result (Rendering-wise mostly; if I were dropping objects into the pool that might be different?).  That could cut down on the particles substantially I imagine,  and I heard scene scale can be a thing as well - I never really looked deeply into that because it was always too much for my poor head trying to wrap it around 'Real World Scale'.  I stuck to the default Centimeters and leaves it at that.

Right now the emitter's encasing the entire width and depth of the pool, which somehow has toony sharks swimming in it. Probably should find some other pool to dive into.

I remember seeing someone have a GIF of a (likely MUCH smaller) tank and a dolphin just comes leaping out of it from one end and splashing down into another;  it's kind of what inspired this '3D Doodle'  before I opted to just make it a still image, so I disabled the FluidFLIP dynamic along the way.

...someday, here. Maybe another stimulus payment given the current Covid surge and all the natural disasters occcuring at the same time?

Though I now have new blazing fast Net access. for about the same price I've been for the last year paying.  400 mbps download speed, should make those content downloads a piece of cake.

Always good to talk with an agent rather than just use the website as there are a lot of unadvertised deals.

Keep an eye on your bills.  Those promtions usually have a timer ticking and will expire in one year, two years or sometimes three years.  If you aren't paying attention, you will get a shock when it expires and your next bill is even higher than it was before the promotion.

...already received a reminder call 2 weeks ago and that is why I ahopped around and then called to see what othe offers were available that were not advertised.  If I had just stayed on the plan I had, the bill would have shot up from 49$ to 70$. for 100 mbps

This one is also good for a year and the rental charge for the modem is waived.to boot.
