Still trying to get this pool to function without crippling amounts of lag, not really having much luck. A primitive cube with the xpOcean makes it viewport friendly, but of course can't do the 'reacts to stuff' thing and the material I crafted doesn't work with it (And takes almost ten times as long to render as the fluid sim did, surprisingly enough)

Best I've come up with is scaling up the patricle size by a lot. It's not going to have any splashes or whatever - settled on a still image after wrestling with this for so long - so the larger size is fine. Still feel there's something I'm missing though
Living in the sticks, the only available connection is mobile 4G. They are marketing 5G also, but that's of no use outside the cities.
200Mbit/s connection without usage limitations costs 25eur/month and it's fast enough for my needs. The price of the modem was included in the first months price (55eur)
I don't want a 5G phone so I don't need 5G service. More accurately I don't need the latest and greatest phone because that isn't where I want to spend extra funds. I rather get a super computer than a super phone.
I like my iPad but I also miss working on 3D models.

So 5G is like genesis which is 5th generation of the Daz line? Talking about Daz, first and second generation confused me. They are pretty much the same but a tad different?
5G should be faster than 4G but the area covered by the link tower is very limited, the nearby town which is about 2 miles across, has 3 link towers and they each cover just the neighbourhood they are in.
As with the 4G, the speed will be dependent on the amount of users/traffic. Here on the sticks, I get twice the speed with 4G than I got with the same computer and modem when I was housesitting in the town.

...that's is a good price particularly as here the you pay ongoing rent for the modem (14$ US per month). 200 MBPS here is 40$US (33.80 €) plus the modem rental for a total of 45.67€ recurring every month as for long as you are on the plan.
...I'm the same way. A new low end to middling phone (say 200$) would pay for an upgrade to 48 GB memory for my system.
BTW, Are you ever going to get the management at the home you are currently in to give you your computer back (particularly as you apparently will be moving)?

This has been a rough couple of weeks for me. Aug 27th, my Director died from a massive heart attack, just after his one year anniversary with his new wife. Most of June and July, my supervisor and I had been working closely with him because we were preparing for our new five year maintenance plan for the city streets. He was a nice man, always had amazing stories about his experiences in Public Works. He really helped transform our department, setting up a long term goal to get our streets repaired in a cohesive manner.
Just as I was getting use to losing a great Director, I live in Texas and now have new laws that took effect that make me very upset. And afraid. My Mother-In-Law is very elderly and frail. She fractured her neck several years ago and it's very hard to get her in the car and impossible to stand for long hours to vote, so she's being doing mail in. And now we have to jump through hoops to provide sufficient documents so she can get an updated voter card so she can continue to vote by mail. And now anyone can go and buy a gun without training. Don't get me started about the new Ban for women, either.

Somewhere along the line the simulation I had going just stopped working right. Nothing I've done really makes any difference - the solver always only shows up way beyond where the emitter is placed. New emitter, new ExplosiaFX solver, same thing - the dynamic bounds seem glued to a certain spot in the scene. I know I accidentally hit some key earlier and had to close the project and re-open it, but I don't even know what I did or how to reverse it, and it was around this time I realized that my Make Backups setting in the preferences was unchecked, since I had to reset the .pref files to fix an issue with tool settings never showing up and I forgot to re-enable it aaah.

This was the Halloween scene I did last year... which I started too late. I got him on my Redbubble site on November 1st. Whoops.
So the solution to the problem I was having was one of those "How did you miss that?" sort of things, like (somehow) deleting the emitter for my xpShatter and then wondering why it wasn't working.
Turns out I zeroed out a paramater that's required for the simulation to display at all and only just realized it :'B

Some hours of testing and tweaking, looking better but still kinda missing some things in my mind. Doesn't travel fast enough, and I can't get the initial segment to be any thinner than this. But it's getting there!
You can get them from almost every website you visit and they won't hurt your diet. How they may affect your computer is another matter. There are good cookies and then sometimes there may be a bad one.

Ever since I posted a poll as to whether I should released my personal renders as a subscription gallery or a premium gallery, I've had no new watchers. How can you make money out of something, when none of your own supporters will support you... My Mum says that she's gets frustrated when I bad mouth myself/my work (low self confidence), but it's so hard not to, especially when stuff like that happens.
