Well I have a complaint but  it's my own fault ,dropped my mouse one too many times ,chased it's poor little ball around the floor ,now it only sorta works .... guess I should get a new one

I didn't realize anyone still used a mouse with a ball. Are those even made anymore?

I was thinking the same thing!  I don't think I've used a mouse with a ball since the 90s!

I have a box full of ball mice.  Once in a while I tease them with a thought of grabbing one instead of scrounging around for a laser mouse.  But mostly they're just old with wrinkles and whiskers and layers of finger grease.  Kinda' like me.indecision

My Brother uses a Trackball type mouse. We looked all over once, finally found the ball in the golden retriever's mouth.

BTW, a new puppy at the house, Miss Lizzy the Cardigan Welsh Corgi

I always wanted a telescope.  I did have a toy telescope when I was about 14.  Saw the rings of Saturn.yes  Ever since then I lusted for a big boy's telescope, but it never came to pass.sad  I could never justify the expense for the scant viewing opportunities involved where I lived.  Then the Hubble started producing the most wonderful images.  Nothing I could see through my own telescope would ever impress me again.  So I just look at other people's pictures now.indecision  Saturn was cool, but the mind expanding realization of the Hubble Deep Field & GOODS images outshines the rings of Saturn.

We actually have a local observatory about 15 miles away.  On the top of one of our hills.

    https://martzobservatory.org/

A proper observatory with rotating dome and everything.  They have viewing nights.  But so few nights around here are conducive to viewing.  So, this guy invests hundreds of thousands of dollars to make an observatory on his farm and he has the same problem I did as a kid.  Sucky weather.frown

...the college I want to in Wisconsin back in the 70s has an observatory on top of the science building that has a fully computerised 16" Meade Cassegrain reflector (which replaced the original Celestron 16" Cassegrain the observatory originally had when I was there). There are also stands on the roof where on the public viewing nights they have 8" and a 10" telescopes set up.  One of my work study jobs was working at the observatory (also was pursuing an Astronomy minor along with a minor in German and double major in art & music). We also organised a trip to North Dakota for the 1979 total eclipse. The advance forecast chance for cloudy skies was about 65% but that morning (after an overnight bus ride) turned out to be beautifully clear (and cold being late February).

Here is the original Celestron "light bucket" as we called it.

...and the current Meade computer cotrolled one:(apologies for the small image size)

I am upset.  I got chewed out for getting some Christmas gifts today.  Also I was told I shouldn't get stuff for my mum's "dogs".

They are the oddest dogs I have ever seen.  I think their vet and almost everyone would say they are cats.  I guess if my mum's cats are dogs, what are my goldfish?  Shrug

edit: if they are dogs, is that a Bears pillow behind Misty?

I only watched the Monkees as reruns, but I was still disappointed they weren't real monkeys in people costumes...

I had a package saying it was delivered to my home, but by the time I went to check for it, it wasn't there.  I don't know what happened to it.  It was only 15 minutes or half an hour that it could have been outside.

...a good day to stay inside as it's windy with heavy rain. The wind really whipped up late last night through the early morning.  Wind advisory continues to around 15:00 local time

About 13,500 customers are without power in the metro area but no major damage.

Same weather here but it made it up to 63F before the system moved through and it then promptly dropped to just over 40F. We still have the wind advisory.

Complaint:  Wheee... a  real complaint!  My principle everyday computer, MommaBear, the beastie that I use to visit y'all every day, is sick.surprise  Memory problems.sad She has four RAM sticks of 8GB.  32GB total.  They are "identical" because they are the same manufacturer and speed and voltage & timing specs., but two of them are Plain-Jane and the other two are Fancy-Dan, clothed in RGB lights.  (ooh, ooh, lightscool).  That combination has been running at their rated speed of 2666 just fine for months.  Then over the last week or two, MommaBear has been experiencing weirdness.  Nothing show stopping, but when I shut her down, she starts to shutdown but then sits there blinking her disk activity light, then reboots.  But will always shutdown correctly the 2nd time if I do it immediately.

I finally got around to suspecting hardware issues and today have been testing all four RAM sticks and their sockets.  I'm pretty sure I've isolated one of the Fancy-Dan ($$$) RAM sticks as the sick one.crying  The bootable utility "Memtest86" recorded 155 errors on the first pass.  It was always a dropped bit #17 in that module.  The other 3 sticks worked fine in all sockets.  So I dejectedly removed both of my Fancy-Dan lighted RAM sticks, sort of lobotomizing MommaBear.indecision

Of course MommaBear is sailing along just fine on the unlighted Plain-Jane 16GB but what if I wanted to open oodles of  large images in Photoshop at one time?  One must worry about these things.devil

Non-Complaint:  Wheee... I have a computer to heal again.  Wheee...  I'm off to Amazon or NewEgg.   Wheee...smiley

Up here near Jamestown, NY (way south of Buffalo) we just had a big rain storm, then major winds but nothing deadly. The lights did flicker a couple times.

I'm in Youngstown, OH so were not that far away from each other. Only what about 150 miles? We do that much driving to one of my Cleveland Clinic appointments and back.

How is it your testing your RAM? You have some device that you plug in or software or the old unplug one stick at a time (which is how I do it , lol) The last time I did it I couldn't find any other method but that was a lot of years ago. at least 15 yrs now. I've been very lucky and they have all held up for me. Its HHD's and GPU's that have puked on me on more than a few occasions. So I back all my stuff up in duplicates now plus do a system image. I usually get the Corsair sticks of RAM and have had a lot of luck with them.

An even better Non-Complaint:  Wheee..., after picking out my replacement RAM at Amazon I had an attack of guilt and financial reality and aborted the purchase.sad  Painful as it was, I survived.  Then I started to look in my boxes and boxes of old empty hardware boxes to find the box that the bad RAM sticks had come in so that I could shelve them.  During the process I discovered that I already had an unused set of 16GB of Fancy-Dan, RGB lighted, RAM but at 3200 speed instead of 2666.  It might work, or I might be able to get them to work together at 2666 or at least 2133, but if not then I discovered that I also had 16GB of Plain-Jane, non-lighted, 3200 speed RAM.  So the next day or so is going to be me trying to find a way to de-lobotomize MommaBear and get her back to 32GB of memory somehow.  (Not that I really need to, but then again, so many of the things we do are not from need but from want.  Fortunately, the boundary between need and want is fuzzy and so is my guilt.)devil

In all my years working on computers (big & small) I had never had a memory fail.yes  I guess there's a first time for everything.indecision

I got the wonderful cloud flare error.

also I'm having a problem drinking my hot cocoa.  Basically it is on my desk and I'm on my bed.

does Dawn soap really help ducklings?  Just saw a Dawn ad.

I also just saw a store ad where things appear after a customer picks up an item.  That was creepy,
