...yeah grammar is another issue as i often mix up word order as well (though I don't use the grammar check function in Word as when I set it to "casual" I may as well have it disabled).  Spelling and English in general were my two worst subjects in school (oddly math was one of my best and in college, music). When I get worked up about matters. my writing goes to heck and I need to meticulously proof read what I wrote a couple times before I post anything.  Sometimes mistakes still slip through.

Grammar is a scam made up by Big English and the grammar cartels along with their minions the English teachers, so they can torment children for Krampus and the Easter Badger (he's like Krampus, but a badger... for Easter)...

If grammar and spelling are so great why do they keep changing over time?... read books from the 1500s, 1600s, 1700s, 1800s... at first most people are like "what the hell are they saying... is that even English?"... it was a Dutch book I was reading the first time, but later when I found an English copy and I was still like "these people don't know how to talk properly"...
And don't get me started with those "s" that look like "f"... or the "V" instead of "U" and why the hell is it "double-u" if it looks like double Vs?...
    And "silent letters"?...
You know that had to have been a French Typesetter's Guild invention to charge more for making up extra letters to add to words so books would be more money per pound... like each silent "h" alone weighs like 5 grams...
I know it seems that I'm blaming the French again, but I'm still pissed about croissants... not only because I can never spell them correctly and no spellchecker on earth can ever figure out that's what the hell I'm trying to spell, but because if you are going to make a bread product that is shaped like a boomerang, then it should fly like one and not keep landing in the bushes so stray raccoons will run off with them...

Imagine if the baloney had caught on with numbers...

Customer: "How much is this aardvark pelt good sir?"

    Clerk: "I'm a woman..."

Customer: "I'm sorry, the mustache threw me off... but it is rather full and handsome... I haven't seen a finer handlebar mustache in years!"

Clerk: "Thank you... but that's not aardvark, that's the rump hairs of a Tanzanian musk ape... these are the aardvark pelts over here..."

Customer: "Oh, I see... yes, much more aardvarkie... and how much are these?

    Clerk: "Two for $8"

Customer: "Oh, that's a good price... I'll take these two..."

Clerk: "Very good... would you like a bag?"

Customer: "Thank you, no... I'm going to eat them on the way home... the bus ride is rather long..."

Clerk: "Good choice, nothing like a good aardvark hide on the bus ride home... well, that will be $10..."

Customer: "$10... I thought aardvark was tax free and you said they were 2 for $8?"

Clerk: "Ah yes, correct on both accounts, but there was a silent two in there which you missed..."

Customer: "Curse these silent numbers! If I weren't a French typesetter, they'd make me poor!"

I'm sure you now see how lucky we are that silent numbers never caught on.

Regardless, grammar is a total scam, and that's why I refuse to embrace it or acknowledge it... in fact I keep pushing for National Grammar Rejection Day, but nobody I ever pitch it to can agree with a date... Probably because my grammar and spelling is so terrible nobody I'm petitioning ever understands what the letter is about.

Glad I am retired and don't have to commute to work every day.

They did it here too. But, they did make it free to use the bus for the time being. They cut the routes by half. We use to have 5 in town here and now it's down to two. Luckly the one they kept is right by our house so my son can pick it up to get to the University.

I went to check on Mr Summers by putting my hand into his habitat.  He is okay.  I'm trying to figure out if his water is wet.  I do know after I took my hand out of the aquarium, my hand was wet.

Which in particular, or all of them? Is it doing it with other paid for packs as well?

Turns out not just the freebies, as it didn't show a dragon for g8m as purchased.

whatever happened, it seems the issue is solved.

I can't believe how much time I spent playing the Genesis Shadowrun game considering that the core game loop just isn't fun at all.

...I'm involved with the P&P role play version of Shadowrun (5th ed)  Been playing it ever since the encountering the game back in '91. GM'd several campaigns and been a member of our local missions group since 2015.  sadly Covid put a kibosh on our weekly meetings at a local game shop. We usually had 3 - 4 tables there every Tuesday night   Working on retooling an epic 3rd ed campaign to 5th ed rules which was set in Europe in 2061.

My forum namesake and Leela were two of my "star" characters.

[attachment: Kyoto Kid for the Missions sessions]

I've never been able to get into tabletop/P&P gaming, but I just love the universe of Shadowrun so much that I keep playing video games based on it. I've been thinking lately about finding a GM and giving it a try, but I fear I'll have the same issue with it as the times I tried playing D&D or larping.

...sounds a lot smaller than Portland with only 5 routes.

We have about 85 bus lines and 5 LRT lines.  With schools back in session and more people returning to work buses are already filling up.  Last week I was on a bus that pretty much had all the seats occupied and we were still two hours away from the usual evening commute.  The population of the metro area here is around 2,100,000, and transit is used a fair amount.

Somehow sitting shoulder to shoulder with someone who may or may not be vaccinated during another forthcoming surge is not very comforting particularly if this strain can breakthrough the protection offered by the vaccine.

We certainly don't have a problem of too many buses around here. indecision

However, we do have one bus route that serves the east side of the county.  It goes through here at 8:10 AMyes and returns around 4:00 PMno and it takes nearly a half hour to go the eight miles to the city (by bus). So you couldn't use it to go to an 8-hour job.  It does take you to the central hub to catch other buses to the rest of the city but if you live in the sticks you're lucky to have even one bus and even luckier still to have it return.

I don't like to ride it because it's filled with Beavis & Butt-Head types.frown  (Well, I say "filled" but it's a very small bus, which forces everyone close together.  So it doesn't take many B&BH types to become irritating or intimidating.)

Note:  For those not familiar with Beavis and Butt-Head: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beavis_and_Butt-Head.

Where I live, the last bus went around 25 years ago and we are being 'encouraged' to make our daily commutes by foot or bicycle... Yeah, this morning it was -24C (-11F) and even though I only have about 10km (6.25mi) to work, it would have been an 'experience' on either one of the accepted methods.

We are in a fairly smallish town and there were only 5 routes in this town. They cover a 60 or so sq mile area so there are about 30 or so routes in total. Our county is 240 or so sq mile. Our town is only about 30,000 in population so pretty small comparatively. Our county has a population of about 230,000. That's a whole lot of poor people. This area is in the top 5 cheapest places to live in the US.

  • There are no bus routes in our community. However, we do have a county sponsered Transportation service where you call ahead and request transportation. They then schedule to pick you up.

...sounds like Stevens Point WI where I first went to college (about 28,000 population).  They had a bus system which had something like three routes. Being that Portage  county was heavily settled by Polish immigrants in years past the buses all bore the name "Autobus Miejski" (City Bus).

Meanwhile Olympia WA where Lived for several years in the 1980s (about 30,000 [population back then) had a surprisingly comprehensive network of bus routes for a city of that size which eventually in the late 1980s connected up with Pierce Transit (Tacoma Pierce County).  I remember being able to take city transit from Olympia to Seattle for a lot less than "Running Dog". as Pierce Transit in turn connected with King County Metro (Seattle's transit system) at Federal Way on the south end of the county.

Today you can get a single transit fare smart card that will let you ride on all the systems in the Puget Sound area (including the Sounder commuter rail and light rail systems), from Olympia (who's system ceased charging fares in 2018) to Bellingham (the latter which has service to Blaine on the Canadian border) along with the Washington State Ferry system.

I've always wondered if people in rural areas take local buses. I guess they do or else the bus route would be closed by now.  I think one intercity bus service stopped one route between the outer suburbs and a rural city.  Another bus compay runs a similar route though.  No loss.

I'd say probably 90% of those routes are for Youngstown (intercity). We live in a suburb of Youngstown were the crime rate is severely low, thank god. Median income is about $45,000 a year. The town next to us median is about $125,000. Is where all the doctors, lawyers, business executives and such live. If it was just them the median would be about triple that but most of that town is, well was, GM employee's until they closed. They are reopening to build electric pickup trucks some time here in the near future. I wish I was able to work outside the house. They will probably have a starting wage of about $28-$30 an hour. Closest I ever got to that was $18 an hour. Factory works, welders, construction, and police officers aren't really needed (all my jobs). Why pay them enough to support a family on. We make more money working from home then we did out in the normal workforce. We just pay almost 11% more in taxes. There was a time I was working 3 job at once. Factory as a welder and 2 police departments. When the factory closed I went to college full time and worked the other 2 jobs. I did that for about 4 years until my accident then I went to no jobs for 1 year until I started getting treatment, finally. I started doing this stuff when I was bedridden. The wife got me Rhino and said here this will cheer you up. Been doing this since 2004. I think I've only been on our transit service once. Meet some, well, interesting people on them around here. My parents used the busses all the time.

We still have green leaves on a tree way in the back... very yellow-green, but still... most of the trees have shed their leaves now, but the sugar maples still have a lot of bright yellow leaves on them... normally they should have all fallen by now.
