You could do what I did the other day when I had a headache... I dropped a log on my foot and I totally forgot about my head... I also invented six new curse words... I'd share them, but FRANK*probably won't let me...

I don't recommend the Log Method, but it was very effective.

*Yup, like three months later and I'm still going on about Frank PG13ing my colorful language.
I'll probably never let it go... I'm like a deranged squirrel with an acorn.

...well just did a count for "Giving Tuesday today Since 01:47 this morning (PST) I have received a total of 966 emails all soliciting donations it is now 21:27 local time and I wouldn't be surprised if a few more slipped in before "zero hour" here.  That's like a week's worth of emails normally in just one day.  Glad it wasn't snail mail or they would have needed to put a one of those big plastic recycle containers in front of my mailbox.

All I got was a text from "Nancy Pelosi".

Just moved my studio to a different room in the house, so I figured I'd take a picture now, because it will probably never be this presentable again. This used to be my wife's art room, so everything on the walls is hers.

Pain killers don't usually help with the ordinary headache. They only really work on tension headaches, mostly migraines. You need regular Ibupropian, Tylanol, Motrin, Asprin and such.

I feel better now.  I think it was a migraine.  I took a migraine pill for it and went to bed.  I feel better now.

Complaint:  A Murphy's Law:  If something can go wrong, it will go wrong at the most inopportune time.  I have an important letter to print in the next 10 minutes.  Just one page.  But my faithful printer has decided to go wonky. crying

Edited:  All's well.  Letter is printed although with some weak letters and smudges.  Yeah, I've done head cleaning and ink shaking.  That made it a little better but I'm going to have to dig in and see if there's anything that could be cleaned or lubricated.  I think the pinchrollers are slipping and the ink is old (despite being a recent purchase).frown

Looks like my youngest sons desk except 2 more monitors. He took most of it with him to college though. Most of his is all music related. He is a drummer most of all. He also, over the last 2 years taught himself to play keyboard and guitar, but pretty much concentrates on the keyboard the most now.

Why are the variants so bad?

Luck of the draw.  There have been many variants (Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, Epsilon, Zeta, Eta, Theta, Iota, Kappa, Lambda, Mu, Nu, Xi, Omicron) but most of them have fizzled and died out without spreading far, or are so weak as to not be a problem.  Random mutations, some win, some don't.  You only hear about the ones "of concern"

Note:  Actually according to a report I saw this morning, The name "Nu" wasn't used because it was too much like "new", which would have been confusing.  Also, "Xi" wasn't used because it's the name of the Chinese leader.

See..., I knew that memorizing the Greek alphabet would come in hand one day.yes

I can't find my postcard stamps!  They were on my desk but now they aren't.

Edit: I found my new bracelet in the trash can outside.  I don't know how it got out there.

Looks like you've got some nice guitars there.  Is this for recording music, or blogs and tutorials?  Just curious.

I got a black artist book in the mail today.  I'm trying to figure out how to color on black paper.

    Not just guitars, either:

It's for recording music, and I also produce my podcast here. I've made some attempts at recording tutorials, but never really followed through on most of them. This is the only one I ever really finished, and it was basically an audition for a job making video tutorials.

Nice job on the video.  For acoustic, I have a Guild F48.  Bought it new in the mid-to-late '70s at Wurlitzer's in Boston.  Started on drums in the late '60s, then moved to bass  in '69.  Later, picked up some six strings...Gibson SG Custom ('65 to '69...Gibson isn't more exact than that), later a G&L Legacy Special in the late '90s.  Have some keys as well, and a flute (solid silver Gemeinhardt - may not have spelled that right), a few mics (two Beyer Dynamics M500s, one Senheiser), amps, few pedals, Roland Space Echo, LP double strung chimes, etc.  Haven't really played much of anything in several years, though.  Trying to get back to it...life keeps happening.

Those old Guilds are so great. I started on flute, then got bored with it and switched to guitar around 13 or 14. I picked one up several years ago and played it a little bit, but all it really did was confirm for me that I just don't enjoy playing wind instruments.

That's cool... so that's you in the video...?... you look nothing like your avatar... I'm actually a little disappointed, but I've come to realize that most forum members aren't actually cats, squirrels with whips or various robots and sexy anime characters...

    Rear life is very disappointing.

Yeah, it's been so long...I'd probably pass out if I tried to play the flute for more than ten minutes!   laugh blush

'tis I. I roughed out a self-portrait a while back. I started with Fred, dialed him down to 50% and thought "eh, close enough".

I'm watching some tv.  It seems that Jim Lindsay reminds me of Dexter in the thing I'm watching.

Ok, that's a good compromise... not quite the bear with a hat, but at least he's got clothes on.

I've thought of creating a character of myself, but I'm not into zombie horror renders and I think rendering it out would either damage my computer or violate Studio's EULA or something.

Non-complaint:  Wheee... BabyBear computer is almost a full adult now.  The new 650 watt power supply is sucessfully installed and will handle about most anything except an extremely overclocked CPU or monster GPU.yes  All that BabyBear needs now is a decent graphics card.  But that is going to have to wait.

Complaint:  Arghhh... the PATA to SATA conversion module that I ordered for GreatUncleBear has PATA pins for 2.5" drives, not the bigger pins for the 3.5" drives.frown  So, I have to keep looking or bite the bullet and find another DVD drive that has SATA connections.  Thankfully, both hard drives had been replaced sometime in the past and are both SATA.  Yeah, I know, DVD drives are passe' but this is an antique computer case and it should have a DVD drive, just for the esthetics of it.cheeky

Non-Complaint:  Wheee... GreatUncleBear is up and running (sans DVD drive).  Although it wasn't a smooth upgrade.  I couldn't get it to POST initially.  I tried for hours last night, removing CMOS battery, substituting RAM types & speed, isolating motherboard from peripherals, changing graphics cards, and still nada, nunca, zip, nuttin' on the screen.  The motherboard has no error lights and no beeper.  So, I yanked a beeper from another computer and plugged it in and discovered that the computer is fat, dumb, and happy and issues one satisfying "beep" indicating that it has been a good boy and POSTed and is now waiting for me to do something.  So I blindly try to press F1 (and F2, and ESC, and F10, F11, F12, and DEL) to get some sort of response.  But still el blanko on the screen.sad  I finally gave up last night.

Then this morning I took a fresh look at it and discovered that the HDMI cable I was using was the wrong one!surprise (senility).  So I poked around behind the cabinet, found the right HDMI cable (that had fallen behind the desk) and lo and behold, the system had been happy all along I was just stupid.blush

So now, GreatUncleBear is a: 12 year old HP Pavilion tower case, with a new(ish) EVGA 500w power supply, Asus: Prime-A320M-K motherboard,  AMD Ryzen5-1400 CPU, using 32GB of Corsair Vengeance-LPX-2666 RAM.  The boot drive is a 500GB Crucial: MX500 SSD, backup drive is a 500GB Seagate hard drive, and since the CPU has no graphics features, I'm using an MSI: GT-730 graphics card with HDMI, DVI, and VGA outputs.

GreatUncleBear is now a screamin' machine compared to what it was before the upgrade.yes  And I didn't even have to tinker with the operating system that already existed.  The new motherboard/CPU combo, just read the hard drive and booted into Win10 without complications.  He's now too good to use in up in my bedroom.frown  Guess I'll have to put him on the market.enlightened Although, the only things on him that don't work are the front panel FireWire connection and the front panel  HP Pocket Media Drive for which I am still looking for an actual drive to go into the front panel insert area.  Just for authenticity and completeness.

I called my phone company to ask a question about my watch.  They said they will call back if I let them.  Later I called Petsmart about snails, but right as I got someone to talk about snails, my phone company called.  I still need to call petsmart to see if they have nerite snails.  I think mystery snails are too mysterious.  I want some nerite snails to eat the algae.

  • McGyverMcGyver Posts: 7,066

My phone company wouldn't help when my watch had an algae problem either, and apparently if you put snails in your watch Timex won't honor the warranty anymore.
