It's supposed to be the DS content management system. Why would it work with Carrara anyway?

    Dana

to use genesis in carrara. the DSON of carrara.

Hmmm, by that analogy I could say: "Arachnids blech! I'm scorpio" But I'm probably safe. I haven't yet seen a fried scorpion & spider restaurant. Although I'm sure they exist. Perhaps I should start one and call it NYFA (New York Fried Arachnids) Wanna buy in on the franchise early?

Plug-ins that work in 4.5+ should work in 4.8. The reverse isn't always true, but they have been careful to keep backward compatibility. However, if you install 4.8 beta you will almost certainly need to reinstall your plug-ins and shaders (assuming this is your first 4.5+ public beta) to place the necessary files in the application folder.

    Thanks Richard.

i'm up to 4.6.2.118. they made the cms not a manual d/l, stopped me from going 4.7

actually, more interested in a CA9 than DS upgrades. if they can fix the genesis2 issues. add uvswapping.

PostgreSQL CMS is available as a manual download, and DS4.7 (and 4.8) can still use the old Valentina CMS.

when did the manual d/l change? feels like an altered reality.

i would dearly love to re d/l valentina. i didn't save it at the time.

unless it's embedded in 4.6 install?

well, looks they selective with the product history

I'm pretty sure PostgreSQL now works with Carrara, at least in the last beta.

doesn't work with the 8.5Pro retail version.

trying to think if i have any betas, only haz the beta eluxir.dll - gives shade mixer luxus stuff.

Not my diet, thank you! 8-O

But they are ubiquitous. It's been said that one is rarely farther than 6 feet away from a spider.

    weekend vacation time? de-stress. :)

Yeah, my temptation is to go down to this one big park downtown and bask in the sun on a park bench, or buy a lot of really good beer and work on art and music all weekend.. stay out of chat.. just chill. Smith Micro has Flame Painter on sale, I might grab that and do some effects painting!

I wonder if something is wrong with Firefox? Sometimes when I try to type letters in a text box, the cursor moves to the beginning of the line. Ugg. No other program has the issue. I should try using Google Chrome to type emails. Typing on the Daz forums using Firefox is o.k. though. Go figure.

I've had that problem with earlier versions of FF, haven't had it in ages though. Was annoying especially when I didn't realize it had skipped positions and suddenly I was typing into the middle of my post

Yep, MTV has devolved to reality crap, VH1 is doing documentaries, and the "respectable" channels like NatGeo (National Geographic) and Sci (Science) have resorted to airing pseudo-science "what-if" shows. The "big three" networks have just devolved, period. I was noticing all this at the same time I was juggling my budget and decided I could do without satellite TV (DishTV) that was costing me about $95 a month for 200+ channels of which I only had about 60 even programmed into my "possibly might want to watch someday" list and only about 6 in my "favorites" list. So, I called up the company and the following conversations ensued:

"I want to discontinue my service, please." To which the agent replied by spouting all the advantages I had and what a good customer I was and suggested that I might be interested in another package of channels.

No, thank you. I just want to terminate my service.

--- But you don't want to miss...

Yes, I do, I just want to terminate my service!

--- How, about if we ...

No, damn it, just shut up and listen to what I'm saying, I want to...

    ---

Hello, I'd like to terminate my service, please.

--- OK, I'll transfer you to the proper department.

--- recorded message, your call is very important to us, ... blah, blah, blah, ...

--- recorded message, your call is very important to us, ... blah, blah, blah, ...

--- recorded message, your call is very important to us, ... blah, blah, blah, ...

    ---

Hello, I want to terminate my service, please.

--- Hello, my name is how can I help you?

Well, before we get started Bob I want to let you know that I've been hung up on twice, so I'm not in a very good mood. I just want to terminate my DishTV service.

--- Oh, I'm sorry that has happened, I'd be glad to terminate your service but why do you wish to leave us? I can see by your record that you have been a very good customer for four years.

Well, I live on a fixed income and I don't feel that I'm getting ninety-five dollars worth of good entertainment from my service, and I could use the extra cash.

--- Oh, I'm sorry for that. What if we could save you about $40 a month and let you keep your existing service, would that help?

Well, I was really sort of planning on using the full $95 savings but there are a few good shows I might miss that are included in the 200+ plan that I have. What's the deal you're offering?

--- OK, since you've been such a good customer we should be able reduce your monthly bill down to about $55 for a year, and let you keep the 200+ plan. Wait a moment, let me ask my supervisor to see what else we can do for you.

--- OK, here's the deal we'll also throw in about a dozen pay movie channels for three months. How does that sound?

Hmmm..., you're making it hard to say no. ..... OK, let's do it.

Moral of story for me: Squeaky wheel gets greased.

Moral of story for call agents: Stroke the feathers before you pluck the bird.

Gee, thanks for the encouragement. The leprechaun is staying out at the farm today and I have to deal with my cable company. I've had their service for almost a year now and it still isn't what I ordered. When the cable guy was out here a couple of weeks ago, he discovered that they have been charging me monthly for a cable box that I haven't had since last summer. Seems like most of Time-Warner's live employees are in the Philippines.
...yeah a lot of Comcast's online chat help is in India. Once when I was trying to get something fixed on my bill they added television service to my account. I had to go back on line and convince the next CS agent (who also had a Hindi name) I didn't even have a telly and hadn't one for almost 12 years.

Got my pay stub and a nice pep-talk from my placement agent.. he's deathly afraid I''m just going to walk out, reassured him that I would ship this or die trying (I've already set my resume' on my two job boards to "not searchable") so he left happy and gave promises of many free lunches (heh).

An hour and temp minutes and I'm ou of here.. hit the liquor store for good beer.. then home to set up the projects for my final 2 album tracks, as well as the mastering project! Soon my album will be done! :cheese: :cheese:

Back in 2000 I was working as network consultant for a company that managed customer's networks remotely. The network routers were instrumented to measure and report traffic statistics to a management center to be displayed on the big board as pretty lines and colors reflecting traffic density and type and destinations as big or little lines, or various sized icons that could be clicked on and "drilled down into" to get more and more information. Pretty cool. It was based on Hewlett-Packard's "OpenView" suite of network management applications and needed big iron to run on. We had several big HP mainframes running UNIX. Point being that "OpenView" was designed to implement what was called "Follow the Sun" management where as the Earth rotated, the active management tasks could be shifted to another major control area in the daylight area of the Earth so with three control areas, say in America, India, and Australia, a global corporation could keep one site staffed and let the other sites rest or sleep on 8 hour schedules. Great idea until India took over the scene and just started making massive control centers in one site that covered the whole world. Much less expensive. That was right about the time that the American computer industry was having a meltdown and high priced consultants were the first to be let go.
