new releases here: https://hdrihaven.com/hdris/category/?o=date_published
thanks :)
.
I see right? All those high def images at CC0?!
Totally awesome!
my pleasure carraraists, time to become a patreon of this guy
to be sure... rendered in realtime, right? heh...
that's pretty cool!
now, right at a few seconds form the end, is there a jiggle-deformer at work in the walk-cycle?
--ms
yes it's realtime
the jiggle is from the iClone based animation I imported, she only transforms with the third person player control hence the footsliding.
And a similar app, PureRef.

yes you can render them in Carrara etc as 2D art just no game creation in other software
Interesting!
blackmagicdesign.com has merged their (free!) video editor and color grading systems (davinci resolve and fusion) into a new editing suite (free version is *very*complete) and just been released as a beta as their main release. The Pro version is also reasonably priced with features only a few folks would miss. It's pretty high-end stuff (features/collaboration/etc.), and if you want to see a web-site/promos done right... check these guys out.

(edited to fix missing 'k' mentioned below..., thanks @Bunyip02!, and to clarify that the mentioned base suite is complete and free, not suck-you-in ware!)
I think you are missing a "k" in your link
be careful uninstalling DebugMode's Wax
it will wipe everything in the folder it is in as I found out the hard way
now thanks to restore I have a full drive of crap I deleted since backup to sort through
SketchBook, Autodesk's premier digital drawing and sketching software, is now FREE to everyone as of today April 30th, 2018. https://www.sketchbook.com/ WooHoo!
there's a free version of this https://www.avid.com/media-composer-first
havent tried it yet. full version is pricey >.<
thanks for all these including sketchbook!
also
GIMP 2.10 is now available
for those who don't want to use PS or other paid for software for image touch ups
It's a NOPE for me... I have Gimp 2.8 which works perfectly. Luckiliy it's easy find the old installers, since Gimp 2.10 it's a factory of errors, crashes and freezes. Avoid it until they fix everything!
Hello.
I didn't see anyone mention this, so I thought you folks might Find this useful... It's another tree generation program.
http://www.evolved-software.com/treeit/treeit
I haven't had the time to try it yet, but it reminds me of TreeSketch, which was a free app for IOS that I made a bunch of trees with (before Apple removed it from my library because the developer didn't upgrade it, even though it still worked great)...
It does roots too, so that seems pretty useful.
Credit for this find goes to "pilou" from the Zbrush forums (and SketchUcation, 3D Coat and lots of other forums... He's everywhere)
Here is a YouTube video about it if you want an idea of what it's like...
https://youtu.be/nXW3hk1Ptzs
P.S.- There are two other programs available from the site... One is a normal map maker called "Texture Tool" and the other is some sort of "mapping tool"... ? Not sure what it does... Seems game related... The normal map tool is very simple, nothing amazing.
Hiya... Again.
The normal map tool I mentioned previously got me thinking about a program I had made a post about a while ago in the Freebies Forum...
Its a Crazy Bump alternative called "AwesomeBump"...
https://github.com/kmkolasinski/AwesomeBump
What is it?
"AwesomeBump is a free and open source program written using Qt library designed to generate normal, height, specular or ambient occlusion, metallic, roughness textures from a single image. Additional features like material textures or grunge maps are available. Since the image processing is done in 99% on GPU the program runs very fast and all the parameters can be changed in real time. AB was made to be a new alternative to known gimp plugin called Insane Bump or commercial tool: Crazy Bump."
What can it do?
That's their official explanation...
I've used it a bit in 2015, but I tend to use FilterForge much more now, so I just make my normal maps through FF... But AwesomeBump is pretty good, and if you know what you are doing, or experiment a bit, you can get pretty good results.
This seems like a newer version than the one I DLed a while ago, so I'm probably going to check this one out when I get around to it and see what is new.
Lastly... A video in case you wanna see something about it first... https://youtu.be/XT11jpt-Aiw
@McGyver, Thanks! both look quite interesting/useful.
there are some seriously clever folks out there!
--ms
thanks @McGyver
the tree app doesn't work on Windows 10 unless you download DirectX from MS and install.. then it will work
Ditto on WIn7,. comes up with an error for missing dx9 31.dll,. or something like that :)
https://pro.radeon.com/en/software/prorender/blender/
for those who use Blender and those without a Nvidia card wanting GPU rendering this could be interesting
worked for me but then many apps I have include a direct X installer
when i try to use normals tif in a skin shader, skin renders dark.
i'm putting it in the bump channel.
am i putting it in wrong channel?
thanks treesketch was terrific, this look sgood, obliged
from memory go to bump select normal then add normal map in the usual place
maybe it;s the wrong colour for a carrara normal map - i think normal maps come in dif colours (not sure)
does it look like the one in this thread? see first post
https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/144721/bump-and-normal-map-comparison-examples-in-carrara/p1
@McGyver - thank you so much for the link to awesomebump. Another useful tool in the toolkit.
nice comparisons. ?? ( is edifying a real word?)
tif i'se trying is a typical genesis normal map. you mean they the wrong colo(u)r for carrara?
was hoping if i could convert mike 4's vascular (displacement in poser) to normal. it would raise the veins in carrara for all camera angles
