one example of a ply export, Zbrush could not even import the ply directly but meshlab could, I exported it from there as an obj

the colours are vertex and it cannot be UV mapped in anything so cannot get those out I polypainted them manually on my low rez version seen here

_+Don't  take this the Wrong Way

reminds me of Broccoli _and yes, like it  and Broccoli too_

  • Enlight Pixaloop on my iPad is great for animating the textures for the waterfalls on the Millenium environment cyclorama backdrops

have to then convert to image series with Hitfilm for Carrara 64bit as mov files but its effective

    am rendering one now

    an example on hair

I also cheated by replicating the plants which are mostly intersecting transmapped planes

instancing and ultrascatter would work in DAZ studio for those users but you'd need an animated textures script for the pixaloop maps on the center of the backdrop either Casuals or Draagonstorms

Poser users would need an avi

Hope this question is okay here. Unreal's freebies this month include some nice looking pbr textures. Would these be useful in Carrara in some form? I'm only asking so I can feel slightly less like a digital hoarder, lol

The materials may work with Carrara using http://carraracafe.com/news/new-carrara-plug-in-pbrlightingmodel/ Maybe good with the free beta of Unreal Studio.

I'm looking into it but it seems there is a complete ecosystem to install before being able to download the package.

From what I've read, UE4 PBR model is close enough to Disney PBR model, so it should be compatible with the PBR lighting plugin.

Meanwhile, you can find high quality PBR maps free in cc0texture.com with some of the fabrics in the UE4 pack (jeans, canvas, corduroy, wool).

    You're welcome.

Actually, I'm a patron of this site. I find a lot of interesting materials in it.

The other patronage I indulge in is Sparrowhawk3D and I strongly urge you (all of you in the Carrara community) to do the same. There are only 2 of us patronising him and I do believe it's a shame.

He  is working on some very interesting plugins in various areas and deserves to be supported.

The other site I intend to patronise is HDRI Haven. Lot of very high quality HDR maps other there.

Coincidentally I joined in to support Sparrowhawk3d this week! His descriptions of his work on the plugins are fascinating. I probably understand about 10-20%, but I find it a great look behind the curtain.

The Most popular render benchmark has been updated, Cinebench R20 is released in the Windows store/App store. Though the old R15 is closer to the Carrara render engine.

Sadly it's not free and it only works with later versions of Adobe CC.  I bought it as I had a PS 6 version and it seemed that it would work with it, but it does not.  Sad, becuase is looks so useful!!! frown  Silene

Not free, but great audio humble bundle is up now. Might be useful to some of the animators. Probably shouldn't link? although some goes to charity.
