It's still incredibly powerful to be able to pull up user images of a product, plus mentions on the threads. It's amazing that you can do that and it doesn't seem to slow things down (at least not here, today- I'm on metered satellite internet, so I'd definitely notice.)

You only get the links, no extra traffic. In fact, you don't even get the full links, only the image IDs and the thread/comment IDs, which speeds things up even further (and makes it more secure).

OMG, that would be so awesome. I have 3000 items in my wishlist. Categorizing them would be a dream!

Question time: do any of you use the comments field in your wishlist for anything meaningful?

I didn't realize there was one...*runs to go look*

If you haven't even noticed them before, then don't start using them now. laugh I plan to make them useful. laugh Unless, of course, many people use it for something meaningful, which would surprise me.

Depends on what you consider meaningful:) I use my comments for the date something comes out, to note if something is Connect only, and occasionally for other comments (like some dinosaurs I put in there with "don't buy - already have from Rendo")

Okay, my plan wouldn't mess with this.

(Why do you put something you don't want to buy on your wishlist, though? surprise)

  • LlynaraLlynara Posts: 4,770

She might be using it as a marker. There really isn't any other way to flag items.

In this case, because it's the only way I have of remembering I own these particular dinos without going to my Excel list - which in the case of a sales glitch would slow me down ;-)

You can hide the ones you don't want to buy.

For the connect-only, yeah, I haven't ported that script over into the addon. I have a script for that on my webpage (link in sig). Luckily (knock-knock-knock) we don't seem to have too many encrypted items these days, so that feature is not really worth putting into the addon for now. (Too much overhead for very little gain.)

I think I've used Connect once or twice. I still love me some DIM!

You can hide them, and then they won't even show up in a sales category listing. (That only works if you use one computer -- or hide it on all the ones you use. Although Overdrawn mentioned some plans to synchronize the hidden items between browsers.)

I don't pop in on the forums and post much any more (I'm a Poser-only customer and generally just don't have much to say)...  I love the new features.  Esecially showing only items owned, the forum thread links, and the gallery links.  Sometimes looking at other peoples' renders gives me a better idea of what things will look like outside of promo renders... I know that sounds weird. Very cool new additions.

I used to put a comment in that identified it as a DAZ Original, to make it easier to find things I could use the PC coupon on.  But thanks to you guys, I no longer need to do that.  wink

Ok, I'll wait for you to give the word wink I'm sure you and Overdrawn will do something very clever it.

I plan to make a "multiple wishlist" feature. Or labels, or whatever you want to call it. Basically you will be able to categorize your wishlist items. Either as "hair", "character", "indoors", etc; or a "NEED THIS ASAP!" list. :)

You could have 1000 products in the wishlist, but you might have 20 that you want soon. You will be able to very quickly filter only those 20, and see at a glance if they are on sale.

I agree with what somone else said earlier...DAZ3D should pay you for this work!

Ok, thats essentially what I do now with my comments. If you implement this will it erase all my current comments and I'll have to redo them? Or could you tell us in advance what we need to change comments to so it works with the new way you have planned.

My bad, it was a yes/no question, but I actually wanted to hear examples from people who use it for something. :)

What do you use it for? (If it's not a secret.)

I switched my browser yesterday to Opera from Chrome and Firefox, as they are memory hogs (especially Chrome). I am delighted to see that there is a Daz Deals extension for Opera--thank you! The current version is 2.0.4. Will the latest updates like sorting by percentage, only show wishlist, only show owned etc. be available for Opera? I understand if there are not enough Opera users to justify the additional development. Just checking.

@Overdrawn will be able to give you more details on this, but I think it was submitted to Opera as well. We're now waiting for them to approve it.

I like the new Gallery images on the store page, too!

Remember, folks, the best way we users can thank Ati and Overdrawn is to use their affiliate link before we purchase something in the store. Ati is too humble to post it here directly, but you can find it on the page linked by Flash sale, blink sale, fastgrab, wishlist notifications by email; and much more... in his forum signature. The affiliate link is about halfway down on the page. Just click on it before you make a purchase. It doesn't cost you a thing, but it helps support their effort to build these tools.

Unfortunately that affiliate link is broken. I'm getting a 404 error, file or directory not found.

That's strange.  Did you click on the words Daz Studio on that page www.civilizationhunt.com/ds? I just clicked it, and it worked for me. (Or at least I believe it worked. It did not give me any error message. It opened a blank page and then went to the Daz Store page.)

It can be different things, sometimes when I see in forums that a product doesn't work with 4.8, I put a note about that, because I'm still on 4.8, but I will probably upgrade at some point so I leave it in my wishlist for when I eventually upgrade. Other times it might be I have 2 similar items in my list, but I only want one of them, whichever goes on sale first, so I put a reminder to myself to remove the other item at that point. Other than that, I have a rating system of how much I need something. And also I like to put lowest historical prices for the items in my wishlist, so I don't have to look at the product page to see it, I can just quickly scroll through the wishlist and see all lowest prices in one place.

Yep. Also tried it in MS Edge browser--since I already uninstalled Chrome and Firefox--and I'm still getting a 404 error.

If you are signed up for the email notifications, clicking on any links from there will also use our affiliate link.

There are no affiliate links in the addon itself, that would just be wrong... :) So if you are just using that, and would still like to contribute, then what Barbult said is the best way. The first link in my signature goes to my webpage and there's a Daz Studio logo and text link there. Clicking on either one of those will bring you back to the shop with the affiliate code activated.

    Thank you! :)

That's all useful. Hmm, okay, I will keep this in mind.

The rating system of how much you want it is awesome, you'll be able to use that with the new filtering.

To keep the rest of the info, and still be able to fully use the categories and filtering, hmm, okay, I already have something in mind that will let you keep all these, and still use the planned new feature... :)

The Daz Studio link that Barbult recommended on your webpage is the link I'm trying. Not sure why it won't work for me though. Will need to check my setup. I have popups/advertising enabled for your site too.

For products that I bought at Renderosity and don't want to buy again here after moving ...

Edited: forget it - I had forgotten about the "hide this product"

If the product is only for Iray, then I make a note of it in the comments field if the product title doesn't say it.

Just a quick note.  I'm not seeing the new checkboxes - show only items I own and show only wishlist items - when I do a search for something.  Not a big deal, but I'm curious as to whether these could be available in an upcoming version with searches, or if this isn't possible.

This is still quite awesome regardless!  It's a very nice way to quickly see what you have!
