RGincy... Was that Standard or Custom for the Mammoth?

I have 3 figures, and 2 more on the way, and I'm just starting to get my head around the issues of painting.  I'm contemplating getting a painted figure, but I can't quite understand what the differences in quality are. I assume Standard means a reasonable gradient of shading, but no freehand custom details.

    Hey UHF

We have multiple finishes, and each varies in the amount of time invested in bringing your model to life.

Collectible is our top end finishing; we pretty much put the most time invested in this model. It's great if you have a model that has a lot of interact details (Tattoos, scares, shading, detailed patterns and other more complex details)

Standard, is very for basic models that do not require a lot of detail. Models that do not need a lot of shading, or have little visible details.

Primed, these finishes are for people who would like to paint their own models. We clean you figure, and use a primer to get it ready for hand painting.

Single color, this is pretty much self-explained. We clean up the model and print it in one of our main colours.

For more about our finishing, check out.

I'm on the gameprint website and trying use the conversations box that says it replies in a few hours.  It's been over a day and no response.

I'm really starting to get annoyed at the poor communication with your service.

Called and talked to them directly.  Taken care of.

The picture GamePrint originally had up.  One that may have been slightly embarassing (or funny) if someone got caught looking at it at work.

So I ordered what will be my last for a while.  I've got some painting to do now.

I tried to judge what would be easy ish to print and paint for a standard model. I also did a grey render to get an idea about what a 3D Print will look like.  There isn't much displacement, and I think this is fairly straightforward to paint.

I've gotten a total of four 7-inch, primed prints and an very, very happy. Of the four, only one arrived with any damage -- the very fine strands on the back of a ponytail broke off in shipping -- certainly not GamePrint's fault and easily remidied with a couple of dabs of glue.

Thanks very, very much for the incredible service.

I was wondering if you're any closer to finalizing pricing for the smaller printouts (2- and 3-inch)?

    Thanks again,

    Walt

No need at all, no worries. There's only so much that can be done with thin pieces like the hair on that model, and I can tell that you've already gone to what I thiink are extraordinary means to print it in the first place. The ponytails were printed apart and pinned and glued to the head, an amazing amount of work and detail to provide the final print.

As I said, a dab of glue and it's good to go. I am nothing but impressed as to the level of quality you provide and I'm lookng forward to many prints to come.

*sigh*... Shattered.   No I don't want a replacement. So don't offer.  :-) Yes I'm very very happy.

This will be a tad stressful to fix.  I think your team knows the spots judging by the putty there.  :-)  If anyone seems confused... consider that this model was so complex that they just couldn't break it appart for shipping.  Given that both guns broke off, I'd say that their mass shook them off.

For my first model, I had an axe split in two and a shield break off during shipping. GamePrint offered to reprint the entire figure but since they were attached to the arms, I had them just reprint the arms with axe and shied and they shipped them in a box with foam cut-outs and a fibrous fill. I had to glue in the magnets myself (so polarity would match) but it looks perfect now.

My figure is truly a dickhead combo of complicated and cool...  Even with the issues I've had... I can't think of anything they are doing wrong.  I just can't.  Meaning... this method of packing is as good as they can do.  7" 3D Print figures are just an odd combination of brittle and mass.  Heck, internally all these figures are all expertly pinned for strength.  They replace some little wires and antena with copper or steel wire.

I think GamePrint does existing work with game miniatures, but those are made with stronger materials, like resin, plastic or metal.

I wonder if low temperatures in shipping makes a difference.  It can get well below zero in cargo flights.

I wonder if there's an affordable way to get a quick mold to the figure for shipping.  Sort of like how mass produced toys are handled now.  They have a fitted cavity which they then tie the toys (Barbie?) into.

I work with drilling electronics, and we did something like that.  (Down hole.. 175C, 40g vibration, 1000g shock.)  Inside our pressure barrels we poored silicon over the electronics and let them 'float' inside the pressure barrel.  I wonder if there a cheap not so environmentally destructive and wasteful way to do that with these 3D prints?  Put it in a ziplock bag... pour something over it.. now it won't shake and break.

    Hey UHF

We will be reprinting your model, and shipping you a new one.

The part where the guns are attached, we will be adding magnets to ensure that when we ship them they will not break.

We apologise about it being broken, and we know the new one will get their safely.

  • My orders came in today!  We've got a hit and... a miss.  Both came in the correct size, which was my biggest worry.  But one came with the weapon broken.

Here is the large one, which came through great.

  • But the other one didn't have enough support inside the cutout, and the sword snapped at the hand.  Other than that it looks great.
