Okay now that is kind of stunning and a shock.
I loaded up the DAZ Studio version and found a number of additional controls, now this may be due to my purchase of the starter set morphs that automatically load when I load the base figure. But with just those few extra morphs it gives her a new look and use.
If this is the case, it is nicer to have than the "Vicky sets", no need to load separate morphs when I load the base figure...Just one more thing thing that makes her more like her DAZ cousins Genesis and G2F (is that really a name at all?).
That post showed the results of clicking on "Body", But clicking on "Head" doesn't do much better. There are settings for the shape and position of her eyes- same for her lips. But no blinking and no mouth movements.
I try to make a post, it sends me to the login window, I login and it sends me to the freakin' dashboard! Is anyone working on this??
I finally got her working. It didn't dawn on me (Pun not intended) that there were 2 sets of morphs- base and starter. Going back and starting over, searching and re-applying, I finally got her worked out:
This probably doesn't belong in this thread, but I'm going to ask anyway.
Anyone here good at cleaning up blurred photos? Please Pm me if you are.
Remember those pictures Teresa and I took of an alien desert planet back in June? I finally got off my rear today and tried my hand at modifying them. It went much better than I feared, nor is it as tedious as I feared. I guess I shouldn't let my numerous fears slow me down. Too much.
after banging my head against the desk for awhile trying to get a display to work on the stations either side of the main viewer, I decided to make panels instead.
Beautiful work, Tim!
thanks! still a lot to do, the left hand screens and all the control panels, but it's coming along
Crewmen Floaty Space Octopus Guy
...and they said Kirk and Riker were all hands? Okay that was a bad joke...I tried.
Nice work on the Bridge panels. Did you get with Vashingtonpoint website on the DAZ fix for the doors? You might consider offering up your settings and such as a freebie to be added to the set. I know a number of us would love to have it!

This set has round doors that spin, not the same as the other doors... for Daz users, but Yes they have fixed them to my knowledge, I think they had people post to them and the updated the downloads on the store sites.
Playing with the idea of what if Starfleet had a USS Red Dwarf.....
LT. Commander Cassy Morrison of the USS Red Dwarf.
Parts of that bridge look familar :-)
Looks good.
Nice work
Does one of the crew members have an H in the middle of their forehead and another one constantly hunting for a good Curry
I can list a couple of reasons.
1. It was the height of the space race and the launch vehicles mostly had color schemes of white, black and unpainted metal. So there was a sense of expectation from the audience.
2. Such a bold color scheme might have played havoc with properly lighting the model and possibly the blue-screen matting process. I will admit this is conjecture as I am not a photographer.
3. It was also the height of the Cold War (which incidentally drove the "space race"). A predominantly red color scheme might have driven away more, ahem, "patriotic" viewers who would have read a "Communist agenda" in the color selection. The last thing the network wanted was a declining viewership because that would mean less revenue from purchasing the sponsoring products.
Sincerely,
Bill
Just to add to what Bill said. This was '65 when the pilot was made? One of the reasons Star Trek was in color was so it could be used to sell the recently introduced color TV. Alot of shows at this time were still in B%W and wouldn't start changing over for another season or so.
Ooh! Good point! In B/W, red appears a deep grey or even black depending upon the "gloss". That's also why they dropped the initial concept of Spock being a "Martian". Red make-up on a B/W set would have made him look as though he were wearing "black face"!
Sincerely,
Bill
Page 4!!! Golly I remember the days this thread seldom left top of the first.
Okay ... here's a couple of renders of what I've been doing recently.
Haven't settled on a colour scheme yet but I do believe in colour!
Also that chair seems a tad large for some of the characters, so was thinking of making some pillows for it or something. Or make the people bigger ... or the chair smaller ... no people bigger .... but ... oh well ...
Catherine, I like your colour scheme it's very you! The blue pants with blue top look good, but I don't think yellow pants would work with the top, The Captain would look like Big bird, or if red pants and shirt I'd think of a Tim Burton Willy Wonka Umpa Lumpa....just better looking!

On a side note to everyone else, I'm wrapping things up for the end of the Mirror Universe series.
But I kind of come to a snag/conflict of idea for the format.
I want to change things for the last two books (at 84 and 143 pages) I need a slight change of look. The two images or one image in a Letter page format pulls from the story telling. I'm seeing a serious problem lately with my stories. My book writting and Graphic Novel writting are criss-crossing. I'm getting too wordy and not enough space for images.
So I've come up with two suggestions and would like some input as to which would be better or more importantly, which would be more entertaining for the reader.
1) The attached image is what I currently have for the last two books. (four frames per page)
or
2) should I do one frame per page in a wide screen format, (this would be ideal for tablets or wide screen monitors.)
Which would people like to see. I'm open to either idea.
-Paul
You could do like I do and vary the count according to the moment in the story. I go anywhere from 1 panel to 6 depending on what's going on. I never go over 6 though. That makes too many for my page size and the art gets too small.
One or the other.
As you may or may not of noticed I'm not following established format for graphic novels with the Mirror Universe series.
I still wish to keep as far from that format as possible; it's bland, 'vanilla', and expected. The Mirror Universe is edgy, different and extreme.
That's why I'm asking for either suggestion, I want to keep with those ideas.

Sorry.
One of my favorite tricks is using the single page for one big image, and doing something like placing the same two characters at places panels would be, doing their talking / fighting / baking / or even grooming their cows in various places across the image, but in a logical to sequential art placement.
I see it a lot in Alan Moore stories, and it's a nice break from the usual panel to panel style of storytelling.
No really. one or the other.
Unless someone wants to go through all 134 pages for this one and 84 for the other book and make them 'conform' to suggested formats. All the books are done, it's just a matter of rendering.
The reason I ask is does the four frame page layout work in a widescreen format?
For some people. They would read the page downward (frame 1 to frame 3 then diaginal to frame 2 down to frame 4) and not across as I intended.
Where others would like to read these books on a tablet and not have to adjust the size of the screen for each page, and I'm willing to accomidate as a new and novel layout.
Paul, taking into consideration that you're not going to please all of the people all of the time, I'd suggest leaving it at the 4 panels per page. Not all of your pages would work for the widescreen format, so, in my opinion (for the two cents that it is, LOL) I'd say stick with what works, or what seems to work, and take it from there.

"Gold" works just fine ;-)
So does red ... and a few other colours ... and the possibilities for mixing and matching are fun too.
For comic book page layouts, Comic Life 2 was recommended to me and I've been quite happy with it. Has several templates to choose from plus each is also re-designable.
Latest story of Tales from the Mirror Universe is up.

This issue deals with a sensitive subject but in true Star Trek form it's made into part of the story.
In a couple of day's I'll release the follow up story to this. 'The Banquet'
And then it's time to go on a break. I've been doing this non stop since November and need some me time for other projects. Like making a better desk to work at. http://pdsmith.deviantart.com/art/New-Desk-set-up-394508845 Most of this book was made at that desk, and I have to say 'DANG!" it's comfortable!
I decidedly don't like texturing collars!
All the programs were reading the uv's one way or another and even for saving after every looked correct, flipped textures!!! So ... didn't get too far, braids will have to wait for another day.
Anyhow, a little mix 'n matching fun.
