...cool, just figured out how to save LDP2 Skydomes in 4.6.
I'm here...but not for long. Been busy with real life things. Today's our anniversary...39 years...so tonight we'll be out dining.
Dana
Congratulations!
...uncool, it totally screwed up my viewport colour, now it is that garish white with grey gridlines. Doesn't work to just change the Viewport colour to the original grey as the floor gridlines remain the same shade of grey and disappear.
Tried even changing the scheme to another then back to hopefully get the default look but that didn't work either.
Looks like another thing to suggest for Studio5. Don't overwrite the original viewport colour settings when importing from other sources.
never heard of that happening before. What are you trying to import?
...an LDP2 skydome I saved as a .duf.

...OK found how to fix it, just load an old scene in and the viewport returns to normal. Still an odd annoying little bug.
Doing a test render now.
(waves arms wildly about like Kermit the Frog) I'm right over here!
Kermy!
Kermit and Miss Piggy were a cute couple.
Miss Piggy had a way with french words :)
...OK here,s the test pic.
Looks like the process works, though I had to mess around with scaling and positioning a bit as the skydome no longer auto adjusts to the set like it did for LDP2. Still a lot less trouble than having to render and layer with a 2D programme.
Used one UE light for ambient and one Distant for the moon. Can't wait for AoA's new Advanced Ambient Lights to be released, it will almost be like having my old trusty LDP back again.
Congratulations!
Cheers!

...congratulations and enjoy the evening.
She's going for a nice stroll down streets of the mediterranean? :)
Sounds like you know how to change the viewport color, but I only found out about this recently myself.
A right click on the circled icon gets you a menu with change background color as an option that brings up the standard color picker.
I discovered this when two panels of my viewport changed to solid black, and two to grey.
I had no idea why and not even loading an old saved file or cold booting my comp made it change back.
I like the original muted light blue color that was the default color, but I had to change each panel individually to get things back to the way I like them.
Just an FYI to anyone that notices a similar glitch.
...best setting I could find in a pinch that had enough open sky space (and didn't take a long time to set up) to test the skydome and lighting.
Very convincing moon-lit render.
Ooohohooh boy...

So many new goodies available @_____@
...and I'm now officially two versions behind xD (Still using Cinema 4D R13)
Very convincing moon-lit render.
..thank you. That has been one thing missing with most UE light sets. We can get great daylight, sunrise/set, and even cloudy day scenes but nighttime seems to present a special challenge.
The UE light is turned way down just to give enough ambient and skylight effect yet not washout the delicate moonlit shadows cast by the distant light (which is also at a low intensity) . LDP2 was set up to do that perfectly.
Complaint: 16 stickies and 9 real threads on the front page (well, 8, if you subtract ours ;-) )... Commons are getting overly sticky...
Thank you everyone. We had a nice time. And we have enough leftovers for tomorrow night!
KK, so why are you using Light Dome 2, if you can't use the lights? I'm confused. I guess that might be because I never used it myself...I have it, but never used it. That's part of the trouble with not doing many renders, and most of them being for the Freebie Challenge. I haven't gotten to try out a lot of things that I have. I must rectify that someday.
I like the image, though!
Dana
whoa a day of crowds and queues in the 'hood, didn't know we had so many new neighbours, I guess that's what happens when highrise towers get built everywhere
This thread is just as real as any other...well, technically, anyway...it occupies space. :)
I agree that 16 does seem overly sticky though.

Yeah, far to many stickies on many of the forums. Half the ones in Commons could be moved to somewhere like Latest News & Announcements since that's what they are.
I realize the response to that is going to be that not everyone will see them if you put them elsewhere but if that's the issue why do we have a news & announcements section that gets nothing in it. Seems to me if you put actual news & announcements in there people would find them.

What a Novel idea, putting Announcements in that forum

I know, right? Sad that the latest post in there is a happy fathers day message and it only has that and 1 sticky message. Seems like a wasted forum to me.
I may be strange but when I first go to the forums for a new community I always look for something like a latest news section. If I go there and see it's basically dead I begin to worry that the product/community is dead or dying, depending on how interested I am that might be as far as I go before I decide to look elsewhere.
At the very least all of the product release and beta announcement stickies should be moved over there as they're really hurting the Commons forum. The only time I go to the second page of a forum is if I'm looking for a specific thread that I know is there - such as this one when it gets bumped - so I'm probably missing a ton of interesting stuff because it gets pushed off the first page by half a page of old stickies.
Trust me, these consuming stickies are nasty on a mobile phone. I thought there was too many when there were 9 :-P

inhabitations of unoccupied spaces, like windchimes for whitespace :)
I have a whole post on the sticky situation but I'm thinking it needs its own thread (http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/28602/).
Going to go look for my hard hat before Cho starts whacking me with that club. ;)
Complaint one:
Mother-in-law picked a Chinese restaurant for us to go celebrate their 60th anniversary. I have a deadly allergy to soy sauce.
No other complaints.
does she know about your deadly allergy?
mother-in-laws, y'know?
