I just finished watching Onward via YouTube.  (I have a FireTV and YouTube is the only way to reach Google Play movies on it.  I am lending my Roku to someone right now.)

Right now trying to get smart content to work (aka show anything).  Arrrgghhhh!

Colorado will go on 'Stay at Home' at 6am tomorrow until 11 April. We can go out to shop for food, exercise, and emergencies. Those in emergency fields can go to work.

I am not allowed to leave my yard for exersise.  Not state rules but the rules of the place I live.

Since I have not left home for 14 days now and my cat doesn't smell any outside smells on me, he thinks that he is my boyfriend. He sleeps next to me in bed like a human with his head resting on my shoulder and his arm around me and this morning literally tried to kiss me! I woke up with him trying to stick his tongue in my mouth! This almost feels like some kind of movie where a dead ex-boyfriend comes back in the body of a pet!  But today is the big day, I will venture out for groceries. I hope he's not offended.

Well, made it out to Trader Joe’s. It was all really civilized. They only let in about 20 people into the store at a time and had people wait outside 6 feet apart even putting blue tape on the ground like they do to hit marks on a movie set. Unfortunately it seems that at least three stores in the mall, including the restaurant to the right where I just ate two weeks ago, are all out of business! They were fully stocked except rice and pasta (but had quinoa and quinoa spaghetti which is actually much healthier!)

Came home and washed the packages of the food I was going to eat right away for 20 seconds with soap, put my clothes in a laundry bag and jumped in the shower to wash my hair. I’m decontaminating as if I just walked into an ICU filled with Covid-19 patients!

Never been so happy to eat an organic spinach salad with sunflower seeds in my life! Now for some mango!

...the Safeway down the street has special times for seniors to shop on Tuesdays and Thursdays to beat the hoarders.  Got up early this morning and it was actually rather nice no long lines, and first pick of what was available.  Sadly half gallons of their house brand milk (which of course were on sale) were totally out and still no paper goods (running low on paper towels as I only have room to store a couple rolls, not a big 6 or 8 pack).

It has now been over a week that the fresh butcher counter has been closed (but oddly the seafood one hasn't) so all meats are still being pre-packaged, and either in too large a quantity, or are too expensive for the small "boutique" brand packages.  Need to head back to Freddy's and Trader Joe's  again, but it's going to be rainy, chilly, and windy for the next several days so no long walks for a bit.

  • I had gone to the supermarket the other day. I walked there and all the streets were barren like in the Omega Man movie. When I arrived at the grocery store, there were hardly any cars in the parking lot. The store was still open but it was going to close soon at 8:00 p.m. Usually it closes at 10:00 p.m. every night.

When I got in there, hardly anybody was there. A few shoppers in this huge space and some staff stocking the shelves, or tending the cash registers. A lot of the shelves were empty. We are talking about a Super market. I was thinking maybe this was not a matter of items being purchased to the extreme but rather nobody to produce enough to ship to the stores to replenish the stock.

When I filled my cart enough to require a taxi ride home, I stood in line at the check out. Each person stood two shopping carts away from each other. I would say more than 2 meters or even nine feet apart. Nobody butt in line between the empty space.

Sure enough, I have attracted the one person who comes over to me to ask if this is a line and coughs in my space. Now I am not saying that tomorrow morning I will be waking up as a zombie thinking "shoot, I should have purchased more brains in the meat department..." and that this is my last posting here in the Daz forum.

Yesterday, I was notified that Friday would be my last day at work, since I was a contract employee and the company was making major cuts across the board. Today, my wife was furloughed from her job. She'll be out of work until at least mid-April, unless she gets another job in the meantime, which would be pretty difficult. I have an interview for another job tomorrow, so hopefully I get that, because we definitely can't both live on just my disability payments.

Honestly, if someone were to walk up to me and cough in my face, I'd have a hard time not wanting to punch them in the mouth.

I asked my husband if he wanted to actually go to the store this time around or do another online order and sure enough, he didn't even hesitate in saying to do another delivery. We're lucky to have a store that is less than five minutes away that does delivery and last week we got everything on our list, or at least variations of everything on our list. Stores here are gradually getting stuff. A few days ago my mom braved Wal-Mart (eeech) and they had toilet paper, paper towels, bleach, and *gasp* hand soap. They were limiting to one per customer on all those items, as they should, but it was nice to know that our stores are getting stock in. I'm in central Connecticut and thankfully Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey have been coordinating together on a state level when it comes to social distancing crackdowns, etc.

We had a story here in Quebec of two grocery stores kicking out a shopper who'd just returned from Florida and was supposed to be in quarantine for two weeks.  Lots of people still don't understand that nothing is the same anymore.

...as convenient as online shopping and delivery is I still would rather pick out my own items, particularly produce, seafood, and meats.

The Safeway nearby has an introductory offer for one free delivery, but the catch is that the order needs to be a minimum of 50$.

  • Round where we are, the next delivery slot available is a rolling 3 weeks away. The stores only allow 3 weeks waiting list and at midnight open the next day's delivery slots. By 12.03, they are all taken.

As we need food from tomorrow, I guess we have to go shopping today.

However, I am working from home & have been since Wednesday. Our Elasticband rather than broadband connection is proving to be a bit of a problem with 4 people using it (me, wife & two daughters who need to attend online lectures).

    Regards,

    Richard.

Normally I would be there with you not wanting to trust someone else to pick out my food for me, but in this stage and being in the NY metro area (I live in central CT), I'd rather not risk going to the store if I don't have to. Last weekend, I was pleasently surprised at the quality of meats and produce that I got. We normally buy whatever chicken boobs are on sale and we ended up with organic instead, sirloin that looked fine, baby arugula clamshells that looked great, organic bananas that were green and ripened up perfectly, a bag of clementines that were wonderful, and a bag of navel oranges that were also amazing. Normally I strike out hardcore buying oranges myself (I detest punky, dry oranges), so for some other rando person to score me amazing oranges where I'm not throwing half of them away, I was totally happy. We don't eat seafod other than frozen shrimp once in a while, so that's a non-issue for us (my hubby could eat fish every day but try as I might, I just can't do it...nope).

The facebook post is missing the images of him taking a baseball bat to that POS, I know I would have!

I had a shopper kicked out of one of our stores 2 days ago for walking around unprotected and coughing and sneezing everywhere he went. He honestly didn't seem to understand the issue and looked shocked when I explained to him that his actions are akin to walking around the store waving a loaded gun. He kept yelling he didn't have the virus, but i explained that getting others sick lowers their immune systems and makes them more open to getting the virus. Even though he was an idiot, we took his list and got his items for him.

It's really hard expecting my employees to deal with idiots like this.

I read an article that says that "By the end of the summer, the pandemic will have directly killed 2.2 million Americans" that is frightening if even close to the truth considering we are only at 1288 deaths so far..

I was in our little town grocery/gas store a few days ago and I heard a woman sneezing repeatedly over in the next aisle.  I didn't see how she sneezed or if it was careful, but I was tempted to yell out "if you're going to sneeze, get the hell out of the store".  But I didn't.  However, at this point in time if I witnessed a cougher or a wild sneezer I would do exactly that and make sure that everybody around me knew of the offence.  To hell with niceties.  Sometimes a slap in the face is what people need.

I already have a reputation in this town for not putting up with ignorant behavior, like the time in the same grocery store that I complained about the extremely fat woman in spray on tights who was gabbing with her friends while sitting her bloated ass on the edge of the fresh meat cooler!  Simultaneously blocking the aisle as her friends blocked the alternative path to the next part of the store.

And the time that I complained to store management about the Amish farmer trampling horse manure throughout the store.  Yes, I could recognize it as horse manure, and yes,  I actually followed the trail of trampled turds right to the offender.

A year or so ago I was in the the hospital for a blood test.  While sitting in the waiting room a wild sneezer just sprayed away a couple of times without attempting to stop it at all.  That was the point in time that I decided if it ever happened again I would not be polite anymore.

I can sometimes stomach a tuna steak or fish n' chips, but it's iffy. If I get even the slightest taste of game or actual fish, then nope nope nope. I can eat tuna from a can and tuna salad, provided it's solid white (meaning no fish taste).

    Reminds me of a joke:

A man asks the waiter on a restaurant what they got on the menu. "We have some excellent boiled tongue, sir".  "No thanks", the man says, "I don't want to eat something someone else has had in his mouth".  "Well how about a boiled egg then, sir?"

Hubby and I freshly caught these this morning. 8 - 10 inch rainbow trout &1 - 14 inch fresh water salmon caught off the furnace creek that runs off in the back of our property.

I'm going to clean and bone them out. bread them in corn meal and fry them in sunflower oil,  serve with them  new baby potatoes and canned green beans I put myself up last fall.  with homemade sweet bread

So lucky we are able to live like this, we had such a good time this morning catching this string of fish and seeing all the wildlife this morning.
