It turns out, if you use DIM or manual install, that Atlas Hair installs in the wrong place. It installs to Genesis 8 Female/Hair instead of Genesis 8 Male/Hair. Heaven only knows what the metadata looks like for the Smart Content people.
That said, it actually looks like a female hair, so. (And given that the existing paths are in the readme, was probably designed to be a female hair.)
With Leroy 8 you got 2 Gen 8 pro bundles, one older bundle plus 100 dollars worth of other DOs. So 6 bundles, most of which are very old was not that unbelievable. With the somewhat reduced offer now, it is way below that for Leroy in my opinion.
Regarding Ashan, I like the base and hair, but as with most of the last few bundles none of the clothing is something I personally would use. I prefer contemporary or historical clothing whilst the new items in this sale so far seem to be mostly Fantasy or Sci-Fi.
That was me, so i was mostly wrong. Bodies are certainly different. But they still share some genes. Side to side, they seem good as brothers or cousins. I still prefer more variation, but that is more personal note.
Sure, but that takes time, and shaders. Lots of people probably love to do that, but i'm still too new here to be fast at that. I'm slowly gathering shaders (free and paid) when i can. But the time it would require me (again, i'm not very skilled at this) is certainly not worth for its price. Now, i'm not saying this is expensive; just that for spending $32+ (pro+3xaddons) i would prefer something that is more to my taste out of the box.
Since fantasy already got so much love this month (in term of DO bundles), i think my complain of wanting better offers for other genres is fair.
Getting Ashan 8 Pro bundle was pretty much of a no brainer for me. With the discounts and my purple banner I got a decent bundle and 3 addons (including the HD addon) for $39 and got Alawa 8 Pro free. Since I had already bought Alawa 8 Pro less than 30 days ago I was able to get a refund of the $28 I had originally paid for Alawa 8 Pro. Thus, effectively I only paid $11 for the Ashan 8 Pro bundle and addons. Since tomorrow is my birthday it was a nice early birthday present. Thanks, DAZ

Actually your post inspired me to do a sci-fi scene with the Ashan bundle stuff and I'm rendering it now. Changing shaders on material zones is really very easy and for me it's really fun to do. You can totally change the look of an outfit and use it in many different ways which is great if you're on a budget. Shaders are definitely worth investing in!
I mentioned before I’m pretty sure the HD add on is actually being used in the base promos, cos I’m not getting that definition when rendering the base.

I think so too. Romulus71 said to make sure the normals were on and turn them up to 1.5, but he meant WITH the HD.
I'm kicking myself now for not getting the HD morphs as one of the three addons. Somebody said it only came out to around $8.00.

Yep, it's one of the HD addons that are well worth it.; just look at all the extra detail in the promos.
You can still get it by itself for about $13 or you could repurchase your original order with the addon included and request a refund of your original order.
Sadly I don't have a way to prove if it was or not because I didn't feel the need to take a screenshot at the time, so yeah, I could be wrong (And cool! Now I will have the need to screenshot every sale). All I know is that I'm almost always awake at the time of the store's daily switch, so I check it out, get in the cart anything that interests me and go to sleep (because you also can miss good sales for buying too early! yay!). That was the case today and all I can say is that I understood it was all that so I got all the bundles in my cart, and how it's written now I don't think I would have thought I could get all those bundles. If I was the only one I would lean heavily on it being my mistake but I wasn't.
And sure, it could have been a mistake but I own a business where I live and here that kind of thing (changing it midway) can get you in trouble due to something called "dishonest marketing" (or something like that). Sure, it could have been a honest mistake but how can you tell when it was not? You can just make it really good so people go around telling about it, then change it saying it was a mistake and a lot of people will buy it anyway (like some did in this case). It's the business responsability to make sure to avoid those mistakes. I would be more emphatetic if it was a small business with not that many people to catch these mistakes but Daz is definitely not small. So yeah, Ashan 8 is nice, I could still get a gen 8 pro bundle and some stuff with it, but I don't need them so I won't get them now on principle. I'll just get it someday when it's free while buying another Bundle I really want and I don't see shenanigans happening.
Rebuild your order in the cart. Add the HD Add-On. Take a screenshot. Buy a gift card for the amount (if you dont already have credit). Fill out a ticket requesting that it be added to your Product Library, attach the screenshot, and tell them the money's in your account. By next week, at the latest, you'll have it.
No, initially it did not. In fact it read like how people were finding they would load into the carts: buy this bundle get: 1 of this, 2 of these, 3 of those.
n.b. that timeframe was very short and the pages were then changed to read as you've mentioned.
AFAIK the offer was written correctly from the start (or at least since I first saw it). However, people misread it and added all the bundles, thereby discovering and sharing the news of the glitch. The glitch was in effect while I was building my cart but I didn't check out. Later on, the glitch was fixed so that the offer worked as intended. I purchased as intended with only a G8 bundle in my cart because 1) it's a great bundle 2) it's a great deal for me 3) the offer worked as advertised.
Just as glitches work in favor of DAZ but they get corrected. So too should the glitches in favor of the customers should be corrected just as swiftly. Daz is, after all, a business. So while I understand your frustration, it's important to also understand that the offer mentioned an "choose one" not "choose all". Therefore there was no false advertising done here. :)
Ashan looks pretty good. His head's on the narrow side so I widened it slightly. It is a bit odd, he has such a narrow head when his body is fairly broad. He also really is a into brow plucking and shaping which I find kinda tiresome. But the skin is totally awesome, and no real complaints, except I prefer men with natural brows.
"Glitches in favor of Daz" (ie. things having a price higher than they should) actually will hurt their business more than really be in favor, as they won't get as many sales as they could most of the time, so it's more obvious it being just a mistake.
If it really was written like that from the beginning, yeah, it would be ok. But that's the thing: I don't think it was and, though I don't have proof, I wasn't the only one that read it (as the post above suggests)

There is a preset for removing his brows and another character in the bundle has the fibre brows.

You shouldn't have to, but select Atlas Hair and then click on the "Preview On" property file and then it renders.

ah ok. I didn't install that hair - I don't like it so don't want to use it. Didn't realise that is the one that was posted.

Yeah, the hair loads looking weird like that. IMHO items should load 'normally' so we don't freak out when seeing stuff like this lol ...
