OMG, lol that hair! You had me cracking up @Divamakeup! "Have I finally lost my mind?" "Crypt Keeper hair"
I wonder if that's the reason he's bald in the main icon image, whoever made the render loaded the hair up and was like "Oh my.... let's not"
Glad it works in the end, we all make mistakes. It looks great when that little button gets pushed.
His hands are a bit too small for my personal taste so I increased them with Hand Propagating Scale, I also increased his Base Bump and Normal Map settings. Other than that he's "out of the box":
I'm glad I'm not the only one who got a laugh out of it.
The situation was just too strange, I had to laugh.
oh I noticed in my render and your comment was going to reply but read rest of thread too, also in my first test render on page 3 roughly half way the back of Ashan's head skin tone don't match and show seam. And as usual with the clothing dforce explodes instantly on me the dresses are stiff in posing. Back on the hair if it doesn't get fixed I could still use it as you saidlooks like the cryptkeeper's hair
The lighting I find in his promos make his skin look really light. Most of the renders I see of this figure have him a lot darker.
I get promos are made to sell product, but if a figure is over lit. ...then you sort of make them look a lot lighter than they will appear to the average user when rendered.
They might be using one of his other Translucency presets (he comes with three) which would make him look lighter.
Couldn't resist....
ROFL!!
Creepy but fun!
that is actually pretty close as the cryptkeeper, vaultkeeper and the old witch were pretty much intact shall we say in the original comics they only became more decayed in the tv series, movies and cartoons
I rendered him on the lowest translucency setting and he was still pretty dark. I thought he looked a lot lighter in the promos too. If I want him lighter I'll just run him thru Altern8...problem solved ;).
just though mention that in smart content Abasi does not show up in male section but will show up in people but only if you have the filter by context box unchecked. No point in reporting it as this happened with another I couldn't find we eventually found her again this is the only way she appeared and was told qa may look into fixing it but may not bother as she showed up that way
I use smart content but I see that option there andclicked it and it worked looked as should, there's also a turn off preview for easier use, kinda weird but when you think of it this gives us two completely different hairs for one and that cryptkeeper style look will be handy methinks
Not sure if they would honor that. I might see if I could actually exchange it for one of the texture addons I got that I don't really need...
Someone had mentioned they were upset the clothes were fantasy and not sci-fi, so that inspired me to try a sci-fi render lol. I made the legs a little longer and thinner because in the pants they looked short and stubby and the tunic made his waist look too large, so I decreased his waist a bit. Otherwise out of the box except the arty post work of course! I really like him, he has an interesting exotic look.
But that was *pages* ago XD
I'd gone to hit Save Draft, but I'd just gotten up and had sleep face.
They'll honor it. I've done it more than a couple of times. They even thank me for making it so easy.
ETA: Of course, it doesn't hurt to start off apologetic, accepting full culpability, and being profusely thankful.
My problem with these base characters are that the translucency makes them appear darker. I usually lower it to around 40% and up with a character that's too light, like Kala and Alawa. If he's darker than shown, this might be good for me, at least.
I really like the lighting here Serene. Which light set did you use? I assume you used some postwork too?
Thanks glad you like
He definitely renders darker than the promos, but at a translucency of 40% his skin tone would be getting pretty light. I used Altern8 and set the trans at 45 and he turned out pretty light skinned. I never did check to see what the settings were on his default skin.

The lights on the promo for the base figure are also extremely bright. You can see the white shining on his face, and so, even with a lighter trans setting on the skin, he's being really exposed light-wise.
I did use the lightest translucency skin setting. And received nowhere near the look in the promos which makes his skin look almost like Gianni light tan. This is not an accurate representation of the way this figure renders or looks for the average user.
Thanks. I use studio Light PRO Iray HDRI - Soft Light by dreamlight on a white background and a free filter I made using Topaz Labs Studio (free original version), to make the skin pop.
Ive never purchased something so quickly as I did Ashan. Almost broke my wrist pulling out my check card
Here is Ashan HD using Snow Sultan's comparison method
used the low translunecy option and Club Noir Photometric Lights
Ashan 8 pinup 321am 250620
there's a another version on my da page
Here is Ashlan 8 in Everyday Two and shoes from Aeon Soul's G3M outfit. I used the low translucency setting and Painter's Lights 'Classical 6' and he seems to have come out medium brown on my screen.

I may be overreacting, and reality will set in a week or two, but right now, this is easily my favorite daz/poser product. Skin is just a littttttlle pale, but on the otherhand that means very customizable. Daz has always led in morphs and design, but they've outdone themselves. Very much up there with Olympia7, V8, Darius 6/7/8 and Monique, M7 and Lee of course. (Edit - had to keep adding characters I like)
Love it!
