curious how the dream home prices look from the plus side?
what would i do the rest of the month, after using up the 2 monthly coupies?
in all honesty, i don't think i would spend more money and time at the store cuz the prices are higher.
what i don't understand is - we're talking digital, not like manufacturing and there's only so many to go around.
10 customers spend 1.99 vs. 2 customers spend 5$?
happiness times 10
is it a bandwidth restriction issue?
That same thing you did when you had one coupon
Just adding my 2 cents worth - I comprehend the issues involved, and why Daz would be interested in doing this, but I'm in the Platinum Club to buy $1.99 items. I usually even skip over the $2.99 ones. I understand why Daz might believe that item X or Y is worth more than $1.99. Some of those items cost more to make (and, thus, for Daz to purchase or reserve for the Platinum club). However, if that $1.99 item becomes $4, I probably won't buy it. So even if that $4 is what Daz, in some sense, deserves, they'd be opting for $0 instead of $1.99, rather than $4 instead of $1.99. Don't get me wrong - I have no sense of entitlement to that $1.99 price (beyond the PC time I've already paid for). But neither does Daz have an entitlement to my money.
If the PC disappears, to be replaced by PC+, I'll likely stay a member - the free items each month are worth it to me, and I usually put the $6 coupon with an intro sale to buy some bigger ticket item I normally couldn't afford. But my PC purchases would dwindle to almost nothing. If Daz wants my money continuing to head in their direction, this would be a bad move on their part.
Understanding is one thing but being able to afford it is something else, the prices are tripling not doubling.
Can't you let her out if she's not used the coupons.
I've already been told NO Scorpio.. I'm in it til July... I just want everyone to be careful before they decide to become a PC+ member... Happy rendering everyone.
maybe a support ticket? they can manually opt you to normal?
i think, if you have to wait it out, is till eom July.
if you're not in the contest, i'm not either.
Misty.. I've already been told no... I'm in it til July... Just everyone.. PLEASEEEEEEE.. be careful... If you mostly buy the 1.99 items then maybe you don't want the PC+... but if you'd like better discounts on the PA items... then I'm thinking PC+ is for you... I'm a cheapskate... I'll just not be spending as much... My hubby will be happy about that.... Besides.. It will give me a chance to render with the boatload of Victoria/Michael 4 items I bought earlier this month. ;) (trying to look on the bright side)
Ahhhhhh... the sounds of PC changing... again.
Daz and their ever-changing PC rules and complicated sales gimmicks is what drove me away from PC and Daz... and thats a shame as at one point, i really LOVED this place. I think Daz does itself a disservice when making spending our money here acts of mathematicians and/or rocket scientists to figure out; "Buy this and get 30% off the first of that, etc." and rarely does one thing have anything to do with the other.
Im convinced Daz STILL doesnt understand their customers, and thats really too bad.

I've been thinking about this all day - and I can see where this is coming from and some of the implications for the future. As someone with perhaps more money than sense :-) I already own all the $1.99 PC items I'm interested in, so I'll probably sign up for the beta.
One of the reasons given for the 'value items' that went to $2.99 was to act as an incentive to pick them up immediately and not wait for several months; this new approach drives that home because that introductory 30% becomes significant.
Also, please remember this is DAZ we're talking about. I anticipate some interesting PC item bundle sales and some interesting discount sales during the PC appreciation month if and when something like this becomes permanent.

Good choice Misty ;)... I have both gentleman.. (fans self)... Happy rendering!
Greetings Fellow PC Members!
I'm sure this question has been asked already, admittedly I haven't read all 20+ pages of this thread. Sorry for any inconvenience!
My question is about the freebies. I've read the FAQ, and understand that the weekly and monthly freebies will still be available, but will items like http://www.daz3d.com/dagger-dreams?cjref=1 still be available for free? Or http://www.daz3d.com/inside-the-asylum-bundle?cjref=1? I'm new to DAZ and the PC, so it could be that these items are available to everyone for free, regardless of membership. I'm just asking to determine if I should "purchase" these items before switching to PC+?
I'll agree that one of the biggest problems DAZ has these days is an apparent inability to distinguish between how DAZ would LIKE the market to behave and how it actually will. Unfortunately, applying "Everything Is Awesome" thought mechanics seldom works as well in real life as it did in the Lego Movie, and with even once mighty Apple's reality distortion field beginning to crumble, the average netizen is far less susceptible to the kind of gung-ho, no questions asked fervor mentality that DAZ's marketing seems to be pitching at. After all, there's more than one toy store in this town, so I'll go to any store where they talk nice to me and give me cookies.
Those are unrelated to PC, they're free to everyone, so PC+ won't change anything. No telling how long those will be free, however.

tee hee, which gentleman to be the happier though ;)
they certainly have enough jiggagigs of pc item content to play with :) having a 'what was i thinking' surreal moment.
“ . . . they'd be opting for $0 instead of $1.99, rather than $4 instead of $1.99 . . . ”
Yep.
As this page says, there will still be five monthly freebies with either version of the PC http://www.daz3d.com/platinum-club-plus/
Whether future freebies will be of approximately the same relative value is unknown.
However, if I read your question correctly, the answer is that under the current rules, if you're NOT in the PC, you can still pick up four of those freebies, one a week, by purchasing another item at the same time. (Until recently those four were simply free to all customers.) The fifth freebie, on the other hand, is usually only available exclusively to PC members.... though actual experience has shown that if you're willing to wait a few months, the majority of those will also filter their way out as parts of various later non-PC promotions.
PC+ seems to benefit people who already have everything they want from the PCs back catalog and focus more on new releases and PA items.
Before I join and I plan on it, I wanted to know about my conversion I just did to my PC to PC+ account. It says it will be converted back to the original account at the end of the beta. My PC payment is payed yearly so it's good till Jan 2015 so how does this all add up for me?
Your renewal date won't change, after the beta we'll all switch back to regular PC.
I just added some stuff to the cart. O M G! Well this is very nice I have to say. Finally can get Stonemason's Streets of Asia 1 & 2 at an affordable price. YAY!
Jumped in just now. Thank you dzfire for the weasel, that is a very nice bonus.
Interested to see how this goes - I deliberately bought several PC items I've been eyeing before I converted, which feels a bit like cheating. Other things I know I can wait til August if nothing pressing comes up, so I don't know how closely the beta will track what my behavior would be if I was really in this plan instead of knowing it will revert. I am one who likes the idea of access to PA items. Will see how the checks and balances work out, keeping an open mind.
The Platinum Club Plus seems more like Platinum Club Minus to me.
The PC membership is becoming less and less valuable these days (IMO). From what I can see, you don't even have to be a member to enjoy the freebies now... just purchase another item and the freebie is free to anyone. So that leaves the $6 coupon for DO items and $1.99 PC items.
Now with the PC+, we're stripped of the $1.99 items, leaving just the $6 coupons. When I first joined, we could use our coupon ($5 at the time) on PA items. Now we get that feature back (kind of), if we spend $18.
I'm just not feeling this PC+ thing. I can't see myself eagerly logging in each day to pay more for PC new releases
And I'm with you on the last sale. Every time I logged in, I was surprised to find I'd not purchased one punch item. I used to overspend because the deals were too good to pass up. These days I feel more like meh... I'll just stick with what I got.
I had my doubts too but just convert over, if you don't like it when the beta is done you will be converted back to your original PC Club membership. I just saw even new things in my cart get greatly reduced. And yea, so the coupons are for older stuff but I've been wanting Stone's Streets of Asia 1 and 2 and I paid less than half price for both so I can't complain!
<--didn't purchase any PUNCH items either... Don't feel I missed much... And I've just deleted everything on my wishlist... I'm still trying to keep an open mind... but it's hard when I know an item USED to be 1.99 BEFORE I decided to opt-in.. <br /> I'm going to bed.. my head hurts... Have a great night everyone.. POOF!!!!
I thought about opting in for the $6 PA coupon, then thought better of it. Maybe I should make sure I knock out all my PC $1.99 items first.

Or you could just save what's on your wishlist now for after the beta, so you can at least use the beta to knock out some more expensive PA items. If I see a PC tag though it may just go straight to my list for when the beta's over. lol
Greetings,
My concern is actually that the PC+ period is going to have a specific problem, and that is an inability to use it's most powerful asset. The ability to buyout higher quality / larger / bigger name content. (Not to besmirch the amazing Jack, or any of the excellent PC PAs, mind you.) If the idea is that with 70% off, you can make 'bigger bets', like a $50 style set that's offered to PC+ members at $10.50, then this beta period doesn't really offer that, because the folks who aren't PC+ members would get it for $1.99, skewing the results and leaving a little bit of a bad taste in the PC+ members mouths.
Or you create a new category, PC+ items, which are DOs (so regular PC members get 30% off) but for PC+ members they're 70% (79% during intro) off. I...don't know how that'd go over, but it's probably the best option. But in order to do that you have to gamble in the PC on doing a buyout for a bigger set, because the income for the higher price PC items wouldn't be there yet...
Man, I don't envy you folks.
Still, I'm curious if this sort of thing is going to be tried during the beta period...?
Or, more to the point, can we have one of those intriguing but not specific 'Oh, we have some fun stuff lined up for the PC+ members during the beta period!'-type answers? ;)

P.s. I ran some numbers based on what I believe the number of PC members is and how much they pay in subscription fees on average, and so how much baseline money The PC has to do buyouts, and I'd absolutely LOVE to know how much buyouts cost DAZ on average. I suspect that the PC has difficulty making it worth the PA's while consistently, based solely on subscriptions...
+1
It was the not knowing which ones will go up in price that made me buy ... exactly nothing. I don't like being manipulated ...
It didn't even occur to me how the PC+ would affect the contests. Hmmm
Thanks for the math! Now I KNOW I don't like this ...

I have pretty much everything I want from the PC backlog. However, I still find new release PC items that I pick up for $1.99. My understanding is those $1.99 will be 70% off now, which sucks (IMO). I see myself going from it's just a $1.99 to thinking it's not unique enough to purchase. As for the PA items, I often wait for sales to pick those up. I don't see a single $6 coupon on a $18 item spurring me to go hog wild on PA items.
What I foresee is waiting for a PA wish list item to severely discount then apply my $6 coupon... but then again, maybe not. I've noticed my wish list has been rather sparse when it comes to sale items these days. I used to have 50-60 sale items in my wish list. Nowadays, I'm lucky to have 5.
