My purple banners and store credit get both bundles down to about $52 total. I despise the marketing scheme of including old stuff that I already own. I dislike junk like a monster being thrown in where it doesn't match the theme. It's dumb to offer a new bundle that requires owning a previous bundle that you didn't purchase. The core of these new bundles have some really good stuff but unlike a salesman who can sell refrigerators to an Eskimo, Daz couldn't sell water in the Sahara desert.

It is frustrating. Because most of the stuff in these bundles I will never use, but if I a-la-carte it, the total is almost what i'd pay for both bundles. It's annoying. If daz isn't going to do proper pro-bundles any more they need to just switch to a build your own bundle format. then the discount would be more even and i wouldn't have to wind up with (probably) several gigs of content taking up space on my external. indecision I'll have to let this sit for a bit and think on it.

    I'll keep this short.

The bundles look pretty cool, but even with purple banners in play I'm underwhelmed by today's offers, as compared to fairly recent past sales.  I may end up just wishlisting these as they aren't immediate needs for me.  Plus, the unresolved 'Feed The People' sub-bundle items missing thing isn't instilling a lot of confidence ATM, waiting to see if that gets resolved first.

Some fun items in the bundles though!

  • Seams a fairly good deal to me, aside from all the recycled content, seams Daz is taking after some game developers (I'm looking at you Bungie). With the three banners and the $30 credit rebate you can get both bundles for the price of just the main one. What I'm wondering about though is how you get the HD add-on for free. I put it in the cart but no joy there, asking $20. Are you supposed to leave it out? The page says all items simultaneously.  I mean, it is probably one of the weakest HD add-ons I've seen, so it's not like it's all that much of an loss or incentive, I'll likely use a different character's one anyway to give him some definition. The face adds a bit, but the rest.... there's barely even any wrinkles in his hands which i where I find the most use in those addons, hands and feet, with lips being a close third.

All in all though, I like him a lot, as well as the characters. For $35-$40 bucks I'd say the characters alone are worth it to me. Gonna give it a night's sleep before pulling the trigger though to see about that HD thingy.

P.S. Buying that Horse Bundle all that time ago has sure paid off, there have been so many discounts from having that already... I can think of like three now at least. And for newer people that don't have some of that stuff already a pair of cowboy bundles is a great place to pick them up. Just wish there was maybe a new horse (character? morph?) or saddle or something to go along with it for those of us that have the noble steed already.

In the past offers for the free HD morph with Pro Bundle purchase it was automatically added to my product library, so it didn't occur to even add it to my cart and checked out without it.  I'm sure it will get added to my product library one way or the other.

The store credit isn't exactly a savings. You still have to pay the $$$ up front. Holt 8 Bundle comes to $49.38 for me which is still $49.38 that I have to pay out of my pocket. I'd rather a deeper discount and then just hand myself $10 tomorrow.

I already have DH2...so other than Holt 8 and Eli, there's nothing in the bundle I would want or use. Those two outfits (and textures) that come with him look...really...not even...I can't put words to it. Flat? Like there's nothing to them?

And RE dForce...I prefer to use it and will add it to items that aren't even made for it. 99.9% of pants don't bend at the knee properly and dForce is needed to get that right.

  • I was offered 10% off because I owned western guns BUT some of you mention Horse 2 is part of this I have Horse 2 Pro Bundle and several other Horse 2 products like Daz Horse 2 Iray so shouldn't that mean get more off. Currently both bundles are at $34.57/56 each

As for the monster - well I like monsters and yes I thought at first weird to have a monster - BUT this is called Weird West Bundle and there are a ton of and I own several on dvd a ton of Western Horror, Fanatasy and Sci Fi crossover movies and some shows so it works makes sense

I've bought new releases from several sales last few weeks and quite a lot of items have not installed properly or missing files or very hard to locate haven't reported because the response on last time waseven though it wasn't showing like it should/where was able to locate use it and was good enough and that it maybe fixed if when they can be bothered

For people which pay with store credit it's a saving yes

  • ok personally now we have some new cowboys/girls 'm hoping for some natives with various styles/looks so real style as well as fantasy which can draw from the rich diverse mythology as inspiration like wolf/bear headwear and gloves/footwear for example

  • Nah, don't work for me.

The Weird West Bundle says required products are Jonathan 8 Pro Bundle and Honni 8 Pro Bundle. But when you look at each product in the bundle, none of them indicate these two bundles are required. This is an error or the details are buried in various products (which means Daz will need to deal with multiple refunds from unhappy buyers). Can we please fix the products to show what is required in the REQUIRED PRODUCTS field or correct the bundle itself if those two bundles are not required? And get rid of the monster and Fire Marshall which would lower the price of the bundle. I like it (mostly) but it's a NO SALE if I'm paying for peripheral junk and I am not buying Jonathan/Honni.

There appear to be bits missing.  I purchased both bundles, but have:

    No Sunset Rider outfit
    No Western Brawler outfit
    No Banker's outfit
    No Wild West accessories

    No Holt HD add on

Honni was a single bundle + addons for $30 in credit, overall a lot cheaper and provided extra discounts on other items.

Tara mega bundle also cheaper than this two combined and provided $50 in credit and also triggered big discounts.

I combine 2 banners to get this bundle to almost 78. Minus $30 this is $48 and the is no other extras.

Sorry, but this promo is missing something.

At least Banker's Outfit isn't dforce.

Can we STOP with the dforce for no good reason?

Sunset Rider's chaps. I hope that's not expecting me to simulate via dforce. Genesis 3 Cowboy and Luthbel's Desperado have more detailed chaps without needing dforce.

What is all the dforce getting us? I just don't see the benefit in the pants, vests, shirts.

    Thank You!

I can truly understand dforce for some things, but too many clothes need it now. Why would a catsuit need dforce? Why jeans or tight fitting clothes?

I also don't mind dforce optional outfits.

Sometimes I use dForce to drape clothing over chairs, lay them out on a bed, or drop them on the floor, etc. For the above-mentioned items, I usually don't run the simulation if they look fine while being worn, but I do think of it as a bonus. Though ones with parts that are set to be ignored, like buttons on some jeans, act weird when I try to drape them and then I need to edit the settings.

Dforce outfits always look puffy on my characters without dforce. This makes them unusable. I think a lot depends on how custom and muscular your figures are.

I spent 19 minutes recently dforcing  an outfit only to have it blow up at the end of th simulation. The outfit in question was just a sweatshirt but could not handle the pose I chose....    I am done with dforce clothing and hair. I won't buy it unless I'm forced to in a bundle. The short dforce men styles I buy hair-wise barely move. Why waste all this energy simulating,

So, now we know why A) Daz chose to give away their HD Add-On and B) they left out these promo shots.

@sade, Thanks, but it's not my render. I took it from Holt 8 product page.

Say what you want about Joe Quick's monster, that is the scariest creature---by far---in the entire store.

Regarding Ceremony (the monster), the theme was "Weird West".  Jonah Hex, Cowboys Vs Aliens, Wild Wild West...

I guess I was just the only PA who leaned into the "weird" side of things.

Suppose some promo renders incorporating the creature into a supernatural western scene may have better sold the connection.

No problem Joe, I understand why the critter was there, and it didn't adversely affect my decision to buy the bundle.

    I'm just not into monsters.

We leaned Weird West too...Eli's description ;-)

"Grit.....that describes Eli HD for Holt 8 in one word. A Weird West hero without any of the traditional heroic characteristics, he's not chivalrous, he's not forgiving, he's not even a diamond in the rough...

However, while he's hunting zombies and aliens, chasing outlaws, or running from the law himself he is still a leading man with a rugged side."

    I LOVE your monster!

  • They could've pushed the variant Western in a few ways. Kung Fu Western... nope. None of that. More Steampunk? Kind of got a little of it. "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies"/RDR zombie DLC? Nope... didn't go there.

I like the bits in the "weird" bundle more than the Holt 8 bundle, but I think it's not that weird of a weird West.

The figures between the two bundles are the strongest part, IMO. The outfits... mostly nothing I haven't seen before, but at least there's different fabrics than past outfits.

At the very least they could have made iray textures/upgrades for the horse saddle, considering it is so old it isn't iray.

I agree. More saddle options, more saddle gear, like Western/cowboy saddlebags. Let us trick out the horses

There ought to be more Horse poses. It's tricky to deal with Horse 2, the Western saddle/gear, and a figure all together. It just seems like a pain to do it well, so that mostly falls on the end user, I guess.

Given the weird west themes of Honni 8, I was kinda hoping for something like Ceremony in Holt 8's bundles. Now just trying to decide if I want them to be monsters from deep in the bowels of the earth or aliens from space. Or both. :)

I like a lot of the bundle content, and it's hard to say no to a male character who looks like a cross between Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer with maybe some old school character actor thrown in, but money is very tight right now. Sorry, Daz.

Another issue is Ceremony is very similar to an existing monster in the store. I like the products in the Weird bundle but Ceremony increases the cost when purchasing items you don't want. Fire Marshall doesn't help selling the bundle either. The individual products are all good but I'm shaking my head over how this was bundled together. It's not a good value when you are forced to purchase items that don't fit the theme and not a good value purchasing the items you want individually. Into the wishlist they go and wait six months for a better offering.

Seriously. DH2 is dated. Like seriously dated. Time for more tack. Faceplates that don't look like buckets on the head (think practical leather faceplates). Breast straps. Feather. Braided mane and tail options. Fur. Like actual fur and whisker. No need to change the model or rigging...that's fine...just update it with more stuff. Seriously.

The Weird West bundle more or less requires Holt, and thus the Wild West bundle. That said, I really like Holt and its characters. Most of them have what I consider regular shapes, instead of the way too common way too buff characters (with only two or three notable exceptions). The faces are pieces of art as well, each distinct in its own way, but still believable.

Hairs look fairly usable as well.
As for the clothes, well, Wild West isn't really my thing, so I didn't investigate those very thoroughly, but I'm sure I will find some kitbashable odds and ends with them.

3 purple banners bring down the prices to $34.57 and $34.56 respectively, which doesn't seem too bad.
