For what is supposed to be a PA sale, there seems to be a lot of focus on Daz Original bundles and other items.

Yep.  I think the entire point has been lost and it's just DAZ doing business as usual.

yep  looks like the usual to me too.  over 30 bux for a new g8 variartion, not interesting at all. frown

i still remember when she freak 4 cane out.  fabulous debutante

So, looks like a couple dozen inactive PAs have been quietly removed from the premises in the last couple of weeks. Most of their products were not retained (just over 100 products, many old, some not), but there are a couple of DAZ Originals still available.

Aine's Realm, deci6el, Dexsoft-Games, Dream9Studios, GKDantas, Hal1, Hatton Slayden, Jason Fang, Meipe, MetaGanic Designs, Mirage, Raphie, Red Crown, RingoMonfort, Spheric Labs, TabascoJack, Talon, Tempestart, Theme3D, Ticketyboo, Will2power, Wowie, Zoe, 3dOutlaw, 3DWolf.

yeah I have learned, never put off buying something you really really want before the next annual PA sale comes around

Maybe the name of the sale should be changed to the PA Survivors Sale.  frown   It's not as though all of those artists only had older products in the store, either, and several of them are still pretty prolific.

Maybe pretty prolific somewhere, but none of them has released anything new here in at least two years, which seems to be the danger zone.

If you got the purple banner for the Khesmit bundle + add-ons, along with the gift card promotion today, you can get a whopping 42% off a gift card today!

  • yeah I am beginning to think the only purpose of the PA sale is an annual cull of ones that have not released anything in a year or so, a very selective cull maybe based on sales?

otherwise I honestly don't see anything different about this month to any other

The one thing that is different is the marketing approach to lure in Maya, Blender etc users and expand the asset market a bit further. With the standard DAZ users somewhat back in the fringe. Not to mention the people still using Poser. I think the main focus is on the new bridges, now. And getting new customers.

I think Stonemason might prise some coin out of my impovished hands today

It is beautiful but not something I can/want/need/justify  use at the moment.  I was hoping for something with an Egyptian theme but I guess there are plenty of that about.

I look forward to seeing what you create with it :)

    It's in my cart now!

Another cobbled together bundle mix of old and new. The steam scene nice though. Might just grab that and the hair.

For me the Streets of Steampunk scene plus the hair is only $2 cheaper than getting the whole bundle; so, I'll probably get the bundle.

Yeah, I had a banner since I already have the clothes and the carriage. There are some interesting props inthe office set as well. So didn't need to do a lot of internal debate.

The Steapunk street scene doesn't look as modular as some of Stonemason's sets (Like the Old West one), but it looks like it might combine with the Streets of Old London fairly well.

I owned 2 things too but the savings were not great for me with my banner

was $53 and only wanted the Stonemason and that under $17

  • My first banner in ages... but I can only use two things in the bundle, and only the Stonemason set has 3DL and makes my heart beat faster!  Of course, I don't need it for anything, but that might not stop me :-)

Yay for Blender export that does more than just Gen8 people - but it only supports Blender 2.83, not 2.9?

  • edited September 2020

I have started reading the sales error thread before looking at the sales and don't even bother with promos that don't work right or new products with serious issues. I think I will continue this after the PA sale.

This both saves me money and makes it easier to prioritize my wishlist when I do buy.

Speaking of PA Festival, my newest theory as to why it's still being called that by Marketing is "PAs make a lot of DOs, so it counts ."

Then, not surprisingly, DAZ needs to update the product page: "Supported Blender Versions: 2.80-2.83 Note: The HD Version of the script is with Blender 2.80 and above (we’re currently working on a version to be compatible with Blenders 2.79 and below)."

Everytime Daz updates product pages bad things happen.  Descriptions rarely get changed.

  • The 'blowout' sale is a bit underwhelming, especially for a two-day (or longer) event. The deals aren't bad, just not enough to motivate filling a cart with low-priority nice-to-haves.

A flash coupon could liven things up - a small stacking discount would push a whole bunch of items into the "okay, I'll buy that" range.

Same here. I bought about $14 worth of medium-priority stuff yesterday because it was all at its best prices in the last year, but there's plenty more I would have bought if there had been a stacking discount. I waited until late in the day in case there was a flash coupon, though fortunately not TOO late since it seems like the store broke.

There's stuff I'd happily pick up tonight if it stacked, but if it doesn't I'll wait until the PC+ sale or later.

I did plan on waiting until the textures for the Men's Night Life outfit hit the $1 mark, but I'm getting those today with or without a coupon because I was so pleased with how incredibly well the outfit fits to G8M (it was one of my buys yesterday). I own modern G8M clothing that doesn't look as good on him as a Genesis outfit from 7.5 years ago!

Hmm.... I did take a few good offers this month, but almost all of them were older DAZ originals.

    Strange PA Sale......

(Too bad Stonemason's new set won't work in Poser - it looks breathtaking)

I am pretty sure an obj export should after running Code66 instances to objects script

it worked fine for me in Twinmotion out of the box, not tested Poser yet.

  • Most of my things were DOs as well, except on the rare days when we got really good coupons and I went wild on big-ticket PA items. It feels like DAZ pushed their own DOs more than any of the PA items, even though the PC+ sale is up next. Plus their own aggressive bundle release schedule didn't let up at all. Not what I expected during the PA sale, and I ended up not buying very many PA-only items (unless I had a coupon) because the deals on them can get significantly better outside of the PA sale, if you're willing to wait. Even a garden variety flash sale can give you 60% off or better.

Now the question is, is today really the final day, or is DAZ going to "surprise us" and post a big, bright carousel banner on Monday morning proclaiming, "2020 Premier Artist Festival EXTENDED for one more week!"

Or two, who knows. It feels like years since it wrapped up before the second or third week in October, maybe it has been.

There's a separate OBJ included when you buy it.

I did buy more new items than usual due to the combination of the 40/50% PA Festival discount and various "buy a new item, get these older items at a discount" offers.

Looking at my orders and wishlist, a majority of the new items that most interested me eventually aligned with an acceptable offer. The exceptions were mostly the more expensive items, relegated to the wishlist until a future sale.

But I'd probably have made another couple purchases if Daz offered more flexibility - there were some daily sales during which I'd have made a purchase if one of the previous days' new releases could have been used instead of Debut New Releases only. The 'catch-up' days offset this somewhat, but not entirely.

If I hadn't been willing or able to accept the Twosret deal (getting more in store credit than the cost of the items), I'd have had less store credit and been less likely to buy as many items.

Overall, I feel the PA Festival was decent but not great. The highlight was definitely the CAIRO-GIFTS coupon - it combined with other discounts to produce some amazing deals, unexpectedly moving some big ticket items from wishlist to cart (along with two of the nicer new releases).

Now the question is, is today really the final day, or is DAZ going to "surprise us" and post a big, bright carousel banner on Monday morning proclaiming, "2020 Premier Artist Festival EXTENDED for one more week!"

No. Please, no. Don't do it, Daz.

    Lol. ;)

The best two days of the sale for me were when the power went out in Utah.
