Could we get different icon colors for "Add to cart" and "Purchased", please?  They're both small green squares with white icons in the square, which makes them spectacularly hard to tell apart at a glance.

This. I have to look. at. every. single. icon. to. know. whether. or. not. I. bought. it.

Yep.   And for anyone thinking "but you can just hide the ones you bought"... That doesn't work in places like today's sale page "Select $5 Items" section (and for the record, that slider thing has never actually hidden already-purchased items since they started using it).

    +1

Could you make the download icon a different colour, or invert the colour, compared to the shopping cart icon?

On one of my screens the icons are so small and the screen's resolution is not high so it is very hard to distinguish them.

I posted this in Novica's chit-chat product review thread but since I really like the new website design I'll repost it here too:

It appears to be the new look and it's much more flattering for DAZ 3D than the older style which still had a 10 - 15 year old freebie HTML turnkey online store look template to it. Seems a smidgen faster too.

You know what I would really like? Is if DAZ 3D did their new page breaks for the store front on the main landing page by release day.

    That is:

page one is only current day (I'm not talking about those best selling, trending and other sections of products and banners on the top half of the page but the Debut New products released on the current day)

page two: only yesterday's "Debut New"

page three: only two days ago's "Debut New"

and so on for every day's "Debut New" products.

Then they could add a feature where you can go to a day in the store in the past via the date:

    Example https://www.daz3d.com/shop/20101010

takes you to the "Debut New" products released on 2010 Oct 10.

    ++++++

I'll add that I think the new amount of white space between rows and columns is optimal on my 1920x1080 monitor wth MS Edge at full screen. It looks like the product icons are enlarged and it's enjoyable to browse them instead of it seeming like a job to look at too small product icons using promo images that aren't condusive to those small icon sizes.

My only complaint (besides wanting the page breaks to match the products released on a date instead of some set number of rows & columns) is that the price & percent off should be in bold.

OK, I checked the wishlist icon complaint too and the others are right. The heart needs to be 100% larger. Yellow's a weird color instead of bright red but I guess also the one least likely to be in the promo image in high quantities so I guess that's a practical choice.

Old layout was much more simple and easiler to browse at a quick glance.

New layout looks too cluttered and hurts my eyes.

    Agreed.

Also +1 on small hearts size.

  • The new layout seems like a step backwards. It is too cluttered, and the tiny icons at the bottom of the product image serve no real purpose at all. specially against a white background when everything just merges into one (it would have been better to give each product image a border)

    https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/440317/the-new-store-overhaul-solved#latest

I guess they did not know what I meant by "the new store overhaul..."

My discussion got closed without them even asking me if I wanted to continue the discussion. Was this really necessary?

This makes the second discussion I have had closed on me.

The fonts for the prices need to be bold so I can speed read down through them.

My eyes are erratic trying to navigate this change because the prices do not stand out enough.

It is nice they are redoing the store but it needs more work.

Whatever. Getting my discussion closed kind of makes me not really care anyway.

Forgive me if I repeat anyone else's comments:

I first saw the sales page late yesterday when I had a severe migraine and it spiked with the bright white glare that shocked me. I am light sensitive and can actually be thrown into a migraine by flashing lights.

Diva had an image with a gray background as a suggestion, may I endorse something along that line?

Also, a few years ago, when I was envolved in the design of a reading site, we went to a lot of trouble to consult with our members who we knew had vision problems, and tested fonts and colors with them. Your font is particulary 'thin' and hard to read for me, and I have computer glasses and a good monitor. I might also suggest spacing the products just a bit further apart.

As I went over the sales page today, I agree with others about the hiding of names, and unnecessary 'Sales' icon on a new item. Of course it is on sale. It wouldn't be where it was if it wasn't.

Try to keep the icons for Ati's plug-in visible, I can't tell you how often I use that to twig me to an item I want.

Someone suggested a different icon for clothes and texture pack, I agree. Not sure how you are treating shader kits. Poses, I use on both sexes within a generation, normally male to female, except for 'Those Things', I use those pose kits for the guys too.

Do you have a test site where you can try your changes out and ask for a selection of customers and PAs to give you feedback on what you are doing? Before you mess with the live system.

What is it with DAZ that they try to scare away customers with their new changes?  Product library ist half good again, now the store itself looks like ... Better not mention that word. I was starting to buy again. Now I have serious daubts about this whole store and compagny. Why can't they ask the users before they make these dismal changes? Like inviting a couple of us as beta-testers before annoying the whole lot?

  • LOL. The Sword is okay, but it's no Eggplant or Peach emoji.

    I don't like it. Sorry.

I agree with most. This is a WIP.

... and as such, it should stay in the design dpt's computers, or maybe as far as some beta testers, until it's ripe, functional and visually attractive enough to be presented to the customers... it's not our job to put up with it and "help" them improve, i don't get a paycheck for this - they do. too high imho for that result btw...

I hate it. Just more confusing clutter and this looks REALLY unprofessional! They can’t even line it up correctly? And making a promo sideways?

Also what you’ve already purchased needs to be a different color from what you haven’t purchased.

how did you even get the purple background??? is it part of your personal browser settings, like color scheme/style, whatever? or did you colorize a printscreen in a 2d app?

if it was part/a feature on the daz site, i personally wouldn't pick bright purple i guess lol, but something more toned down, or any shade of grey to black, or better a customizable theme  - ANYTHING would be better than thumb descriptions/icons/prices on a white background as part of a product "rectangle"... on a white page background. hey, why not white blank thumbs too, who needs pictures anyways

The purple background is the PA sale page. Except for me there are a bunch of other pink and white designs on the purple, too.

I find it hard to concentrate now on the items. It is like my eyes and mind is rejecting the white space and images. Strangest thing, but there again, I figure whoever suggested this change, do not understand how people purchase or how a person's eyes move across a web page. It just means I am less interested in browsing now. :) Probably a good thing, since the last couple of days have actually deterred me from looking for items.

What is the point of covering the info in the product thumbnail with garish New and Sale banners? Sometimes I can't even read the title of the product.

Wouldn't those have had problems on the old layout if they were wishlisted? The Wishlist and New "unsafe zones" have switched places, but I would think their extent remains roughly the same (maybe that's why the new Wishlist heart is smaller).

  • srieschsriesch Posts: 4,241

I find the smaller wishlisted heart harder to find as well, although I see the benefit of not covering up what's behind it.  I wonder if a colored border would work to replace or supplement the smaller heart.  When I need to know if something is wishlisted, it is usually because I'm trying to pick them out of a large list, such as when a large number of items are included in a sale at once (but dependent on another item thus not marked down in your wishlist) and I have to scroll through multiple pages to find them.  especially when half the store is on sale, I'm literally just paging down at high speed and hoping to catch the wishlist icon as it flashes by.  A border would be much larger and more obvious for doing that without covering anything.  An option to filter by "wishlisted items only" would be better than both.

  • I can't quickly glance at the area and see the price anymore, my eyes have to focus to find it. And then in the sale items, the little cloud to say I've bought something looks almost exactly like the cart button, especially being the same color, so I can't quickly see what to scroll past, I have to actually look at the icon to differentiate between the two. And in fast grab, it's still showing sale where the wishlist item heart is, so I can't quickly scan to see what is wishlisted there either. I'm not going to work my eyes extra hard to buy something, I know I need to go and get my eyes checked in general but I don't think glasses will really affect the font used being hard to read.

This is not the new software just yet. This is just a step on the way to that software. Glad to see it is being received well.

How do you figure? There are only three answers above your comment? A little early to make such self-congratulatory statements, don‘t you think?

  • It makes my eyes scream in pain

Will say, one good thing about the old Daz store layout was i think they had perfected ratios between text and empty space.  The hard borders around the store items, unobtrusive 'New' tags, etc., it was compact where it needed to be compact and spaced-out where it needed to be so you could differentiate between items.  It was highly legible and low effort to scroll through.

I think the new layout needs a bit more work so that it is a bit easier to read because right now the spacing is off, just my 2 bitcoins.

    Spot on.

I don't think it's that bad as it seems by reading this thread. of course many different fixes are needed but it's much more modern now.

changes like default background, a line or a shadow under the items cards, small colored dots for NEW and SALE banner for mobile and in general the banners a little up and with less distance between, colored cart for owned item (or a way to hide them) and so on.

I still hope the new store will have new features and filters. and I also hope they'll completely change the forum platform because this is so old, so bad for responsive layouts and with no integration possible for usage on tapatalk

The design needs some tweaking, imo. It's a tad... IDK, what's the word to describe it? A little chaotic almost, I guess (again, just IMO).

    Perhaps borders would help? IDK?

I like that it has information at a glance like the figure it's for, the type of content it is, etc.

I think a little tweaking on the design or colors would bring it up to the next level and help make it a bit less chaotic looking.

    Chaotic, yes. All good suggestions.

The yellow wishlist heart was smaller than the new "New" banner. It obscured less. It was added only if I chose to add it by adding the item to my wishlist. It never appeared on new products just released that I had never seen before.

"New" used to be diagonal in the far right upper corner, kind of out of the way, and if it obscured something, it was the end of the text info, not the beginning like shown in the screenshot,  "Sale" has been added now, even lower on the left, and it obscures more of the product text description. Look at the screenshot. All four new products have part of their name hidden by those banners.

If Daz keeps this new banner positioning, maybe Daz and PAs will start to change the way they create promo images to work around the problem. Right now, those banners look clumsy and ruin the thumbnails that are supposed to attract me to the product.

Instead of color coding little signs plastered over the promo picts, I’d like sales that work and the integration of the non-daz, independently developed,  Firefox add-on for sales. That’s all we need. iI’s extremely time saving and customizably informative.

Both things, if implemented, would return my precious time (life) to me, instead of me being forced to endlessly scroll thru stuff I don’t need whenever there is a sale, or having to wait for somebody to correct prices and discounts (an unending nightmare) just to be able to find something I’m willing to put the buckeroos out on the table for.

Elbow grease should be put into those things instead. What we have so far is a waste of time!
