I notice that the "Puchased" symbol has changed to from a green box to a tiny blue cloud - That's a step back to reality. However, the problem is it looks too much like the "DAZ Claw" (DO symbol) It's even the same color.
If you put it in a black box/border, now that would make it stand out much more.

If they have to add a million little meaningless icons, how about one that indicates 3DL materials?  Then if I can filter out everything that isn't, my screen will be nice and clean, much easier to look at! ;-)

Yes, if I hadn't chosen to look at the Gravestone product pages and noticed the utterly confusing

    Materials Iray:

    • CGV All 3DL Mats
    • CGV All IRAY Mats

I would have skipped over them the way I did the original Gravestone because of the same confusing text.

it looks a lot better now than it did yesterday, due to the changes they made.

clearly they are iterating on the design as they go.

very much. the banners just moved closer together.

Theyre now blocking way less text for me

Sorry Daz, are you being sarcastic here?
The dark red  is a sad joke - And a bad one for people with visual problems!
    Dark red and black numbers?!
Now that is a just taking the wossname!

this does indeed look awful. it also doesn't look like that in my wishlist at all so my guess is its not fully transitioned I would check back and see if it stays like that. the site is clearly still adjusting - if it stays like that you should definitely complain as theres no way that should be their intention

Just look at the post above yours...

Now if we can convince them to put the original symbols and icons back on the main pages, We can shop without migraines :-)

Does anyone else think the newly grey bar with the icons has been pushed down a bit, further away from the item name and thumbnail? It's giving me the impression that the icons are for the thumbnail below. And the uneven alignment with some item boxes taller than others isn't helping.

This has decided me — changing the colour of elements in the item box isn't helping. DAZ, can we see a change to the background colour instead (a distinct shade, not just a pale tint, please) and see if that's any better?

  • I'm not prepared to prejudge because (as I understand it) this is only the facelift for the store.  The new software hasn't been implemented yet.

For instance, if the new Daz store offers a dropdown option to only display wishlisted items on sale pages (and in search results), the  smallish new icon isn't so big of a deal... although I agree with everyone else that they should have left the old one the way it was.

Other than that, my 'plaints are simple: get rid of the superfluous SALE banner, bold the prices and do other small tweaks to make the pages more readable.  The icons are a good idea, but perhaps they should keep it simple for now: Genesis version, M or F, clothes, hair, and one additional category icon that's a catchall for everything else.

Generally speaking, if you need to hover over an icon to just to find out what the icon means, that defeats the purpose of putting the icon there in the first place.

...updates are supposed to enhance and improve the user experience, this doesn't.

Browsing on mobile, those stupid green and pink flags cover too much of the thumbnail. in the sales carousels, all those extra icons make the thumbnails almost disappear. The product name is truncated so much, I can't tell what it's supposed to be. Unless I recognize the sliver of thumbnail, I can't tell what those items are supposed to be unless I click on each and every one. It is making it real easy to pass on the sale.

...I'll never forget a while back when flags also covered the title on the thumbnail, for example, turning "Shape Shift" into "Ape Shift".

I find it a bit tricky trying to see which items are Daz Originals now. The DO logo used to be quite easy to see....now it's tiny and sitting down the bottom near the other tiny icons.

  • It makes my eyes scream in pain

    I agree.

Oh, the plugin symbol is a plug... I had been wondering why a pair of underpants stood for 'plugin'

  • The only thing I like it more then the previous design is the icons showing the category of product!

I thought it was underwear, too, but then I saw the tiny thin prongs and it made more sense.

Well, store redesign gives us something to talk about, other than broken sales, so at least it is a diversion from that monotony.

  • jakibluejakiblue Posts: 7,281

my eyes aren't what they used to be (plus i've got a dang stye on one that is giving me slightly blurry vision) so while I sort of saw the 'prongs', my impression is that they were the top of the glass laugh Hence my utter confusion.

After sales stuff, but just to make a point:

    (1) the product page now having a download button if a product has already been purchased (substituting for just a red "purchased" button), and

    (2) the product library now having a read-me file for each purchased product

... these are two well-thought out, useful and good changes.

I'd like to see the same practicality and thoroughly thought through changes made to the store, instead of just all this clutter and gratuitous stuff.

EDIT: Actually, it might just be the browser add-on that has made those things appear, and if true, then those are two examples of the kinds of stuff I'd like DAZ to be doing.

The readme link is indeed from the Daz-Deals add-on. I do not know about download button though.

BTW .... the correct German is "kleinerfotomann" ... not sure that will inspire you to alter your screenname, but that`s what it is =)

@sevrin   Thanks for showing that. It makes it clear to me it was SO much better "as it was."   And to the person mentioning a forum overhaul-  DON'T TOUCH THAT DAZ!!!!!  Other than the repetitive signin being fixed, that is. I certainly don't want Daz to screw the forums up too!!!!! (Shudder.)

well.. i am one of those who find a forum overhaul would be great because this is one of the most bothersome forum interfaces/software i have ever seen.. the search function? absolutely ridiculous - type any word and you will get full comments with pictures and you can scroll thru 100 pages until you find, maybe, what you're looking for. and there are other issues and annoying UI features i'm not going to list here...

BUT, yup, i actually prefer this crappy forum that i know rather than anything new - because it WILL be screwed up too... me too *shudder*

why? this would be very useful feature - which is obviously not what is aimed for... c'mon it's way more *important* to put a little icon "hair" on a product that is called XYZ Hair and where the thumbnail shows a head with hair... because it's just not obvious that the product is actually hair... ah, maybe challenged 5 y.o are targeted as a new customer group XDDD
but yeah, in a form or another, be it another of the million tiny icons or wisely sth else, this could be an interesting info, 3DL/Iray material (or both)

Oh, and while we are at it: we really need a search function that includes all the products in the store (not just most of them), along with better search parameters.

And if the search function for the store is improved, for heaven's sake, please overhaul the forums search tool (as mentioned) too. It is a disaster. Unless you are looking for something that was recently posted, your only option is to endlessly scroll through stuff having nothing to do with what you are looking for. There must be useful filters created that can help folks get to subjects or specific things they are looking for.

And regarding the store, and products sold in it: if a vendor bolts or looses his/her wiings in the future, please leave the promo picts (at least for those who bought the product) in tact, instead of removing them.
