Ok, the next is the issue with "Smart" Content/Connect... Have you ever installed or updated stuff from within DS?
If you have, those files take priority and if the installation/update was not quite successful, it would render product non functioning even when the files could be found in the traditional location in working order.
If you search your drive/drives for one of the file names in windows explorer, does it find multiple copies of the same file - If it does, what is the complete path, starting from the drive letter?
I am so glad this thread exists... I kept crashing Daz Studio whenever I tried to use the Face Controls on the mouth.
It would be great if merging Face Controls for Genesis 8.1 into the scene would automatically turn off IK for the Face Controls and lock that parameter to prevent crashing.
Application crashes are so hostile... it felt like I was walking through a FACS mine field!
One wrong click drag and KA-BOOM!!!! Unsaved work lost...
The first version of DAZ I ever used on this computer came with some things installed via connect (one of the starter essential packs, maybe Genesis 3 or 2). I did once click "install" accidentally (on some clothing I think), but removed all of those files and reinstalled that product, I've never used the update function. There is a connect folder but it's completely empty other than product icons in "\data\cloud\meta".
There's only one version of all of those files, which are in the directory listed before. Which is pretty much in the normal location other than being on the "G" drive.
Nice tool, but crashes over crashes.
Seems to be buggy coded.
You can't try to click and drag on the FACS pieces themselves, or yeah it will crash. Instead, click on the piece you want to move, and then use the parameters dials or the gizmo (the lined gadget with primary-colored arrows that pop up).
The crashes are related to IK thus if you turn off IK for the tool it will no longer crash. Select the figure and press "Ctrl+K", or select figure and go to Edit->Figure->Inverse Kinematics->uncheck Enable IK.
PLEASE HELP!
I only read about 1/3 of the various posts on the pages so if I missed the answer I apologize.
During a crash using Face Controls it changed something to where every single character I load already has parameters applied to it. (See attached image when I loaded a Genesis 8.1 Female from Starter Essentials).
How do I get rid of these presets?
The differences are in the details. Skin is better, eyes and eyelashes, mouth, teeth, gum. Everything was improved or reworked entirely. And any close-up shot will look definitely better with a Genesis 8.1 figure.

OH MAN! I'll try this later and I soooo appreciate your help on this.
Same for me
I forgot to log back in and say THANK YOU! It worked by uninstalling Xiao Mei... dang it. The crash just somehow seemed to coincide with the problem showing up.
Glad to help.
That's more than I get. If I click on the head, all the dots leave the body completely and I have to click something else in the scene and then click on a limb again to get power pose to show anything. MIne are all installed through DIM multiple times and they still don't work.
Those that don't have Power Pose working for Genesis 8.1, there is just two explanations for Power Pose not working, either you have not updated all of "Genesis 8 Starter Essentials" or the installation of them is botched, which is not surprising if you have used DAZ Connect to do it (Smart Content tab inside DS) or tried installing with several methods (DIM/DAZ Central/DAZ Connect/Manual installation)
If you search your drives for "G8_1F_Head.dxe" and "G8_1F_Face.dxe", how many copies of the files you find and what is the complete path (starting from the drive letter), where they are installed?
You probably found this by now, but for all the other people searching for an answer, this not only makes your v8.0 expressions work again, it will give you all your dials back, including "Brow Squeeze".
https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/477386/how-to-get-genesis-8-expressions-working-on-genesis-8-1
I followed the directions in the link referenced in the comment above and got my powerpose back working again
The lack of brow squeeze is what led me to this thread. 1 step forward, two stwps back.
How to close and open mouth and eyes of a 8.1 Gen female?
Can anyone help to understand the best way to open and close mouth and eyes?
In the powerpose tool I can choose head and face... but I did not see a slider for open/close mouth and eyes.
In the 8.1 face control rig, I also missed the possibility to easily open/close mouth and eyes.
My problem is, that it looks like I accidentally opened mouth and closed eyes, probably with some pose?
This is an old thread, the solution for power pose templates and expressions is the same;
Making the G8 base expressions (and any expressions that are using them) work on G8.1 requires removing dummy/placeholder expressions that are installed to G8.1 morph folders - These dummy/placeholder expression files have no other function than to prevent the base G8 expressions from loading.
The dummy/placeholder files are located in;
...\Data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Female 8_1\Morphs\Daz 3D\Base Pose Head\ (255 files, can be more if you have additional DAZ expression packs)
...\Data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Female 8_1\Morphs\Daz 3D\Expressions\ (24 files, can be more if you have additional DAZ expression packs)
...\Data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Male 8_1\Morphs\Daz 3D\Base Pose Head\ (255 files, can be more if you have additional DAZ expression packs)
...\Data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Male 8_1\Morphs\Daz 3D\Expressions\ (24 files, can be more if you have additional DAZ expression packs)
Please make sure you are removing the files from G8.1 morph folders and not G8 morph folders.
Note 1; If you are logging in to DS and letting DAZ Connect (within DS) to install/update your content, you may have these also in an other location that has "\Data\Cloud\" in it's path
Note 2; Do not remove any files from "FACS" or "FACSExpressions" folders
Hi all, and maybe @Faux2D can help with this.
I know there has been some discussion about duplicate links, I just want to make sure I do not do something wrong here. I need to resolve the issue in order to use an automated scene rendering software that requires automatically opening each scene to then render and repeat the process. It cannot get past the warning that pops up for duplicate data.
I have attached (sorry, attachments dont seem to be working) the duplicate errors from the log specific to this issue. It seems different in this case, in the sense that the two variables it is reffering to are the same. All the duplicate errors are versions of the below
The only thing that varies is XScale, YScale and ZScale and the location, in my case, restricted to the following locations:
I used DIM to install two packets for this product: one version named "Genesis 3 & 8 Face Controls" (131.7 MB) and Genesis 3 & 8 Face Controls (2 of 2) (231.5 MB). Are both to be installed?
Assuming I installed the proper versions, what do I modify in the files to avoid this? Is there a way this poroduct can be updated to resolve this issue?
@Faux2D
Actually, I think I fixed this issue in Notepad++ (hopefully not breaking the morphs) by adding a "GRC-F2D-" prefix to the ID, name and op fields. The error no longer occours.
@Bejaymac
Thanks for some of your previous posts, I think I fixed my issue with your guidance.
