I left Wisconsin but not 41 years ago, but getting closer to that each year.  I think it is thirty three years ago?  Or maybe 34?

Can someone who was vaccinated still get that virus?

Yes, although people who are not vaccinated are at greater risk. Also it will probably be less severe if you are vaccinated.

thank you!  I was vaccinated but I feel awful right now.

..had an appointment for the boster scheuled for today at a clinic two blocks away went down this afternoon only to discover that the vaccinations were actually being done a at another location a fiarly good walk away.  I mentioned I would never make it there in time as I am on foot and had to have it cancelled.

Just doesn't feel right going to a Safeway or other big name market to get a vaccination against a fairly serious virus particularly as there are side effects and when I got my first & second one I had to remain at the site for a half hour due to an allergy I have just in case there was a complication.  Going to check the local Health Sciences University clinic as I heard they are doing the booster immunisations and the street tram stops right in front .Unfortunately they won't be open until Monday because of the holiday.

Joints and bones aching seriously due to a bout of "real winter" on the way that includes frozen water from the sky  Highs will be below freezing for several days, a couple days only in the 20s with lows in the teens.

I got lucky with my shots and the local Rite-Aid did them which is only about a mile away. We have 4 locations in town here that did them. 2 Rite-Aids, Walmart, Health Dept, and a local hockey stadium that were doing drive through vaccines. It's been fairly warm here ave of about 28F+/- 5F. I've been able to run around in just a sweatshirt and jeans. My joints are killing me as well. I so need to move back down south or become a snowbird. The cold weather gets to me even more as the years go on. I walk outside and it immediately goes to my spine and makes it start throbbing. Then the arthritis in all my joints doesn't like it either and causes flareups. This time of year I go through a lot of Biofreeze and Tigar balm.

I'm annoyed with myself... I wanted to put up a bunch of freebies this season, but again I didn't have any time to work on them.

    It's over already cheeky

We go to sauna, have the christmas dinner and then Santa comes with the gifts on Christmas Eve. I just came home after our family gathering.

I'm worn out.  I still haven't finished a housemate's present; a pillow!  I don't know when I can give mum her presents to give her.

I just thought of an idea of what to do!  Give a coupon so she can pick out which fabric she wants her pillow to use!

I always thought that Wisconson was a good place to be from.  And like where I am, in the outback of western NY State, a good place to retire to for a quiet life.  But skipping 40 or 50 years in the middle, anywhere else, is very interesting, exciting and educational.devil

"Put them up" as in to provide lodging?  I wasn't aware, that they need much in lodging.indecision  Or do you mean Furbies?

Oops, never mind, I thought you'd said "frisbees".  It's dark on Christmas Eve, I've already had my share of intoxicants for today as well as tomorrow.frown

I'm thinking my friends Summers and Loki would love some sun dried shrimp for a Christmas meal?  To me it looks like something a fish might eat, but they love it.

Our kids had furbies... the ones that talk to each other... very disturbing... about a year ago I was moving some stuff in the girls' room and the box I was holding started to rattle and shake with giggling and cackling emanating from inside.

I'm sort of a "obliterate first, ask questions later" type of person, so that almost did not end well for the furbies, had I not recognized that sound, they probably would have died a very messy death.

They, by the way, do not sound cute... more like little demonic spirits planning something... I have no idea who picked the sound they make, but I'm sure they wanted something that sounded like the lost soul of an orphan trapped in a plastic monkey-owl.

That having been said they are now in storage without batteries in them.

...at 28°F  I bundle up like the little brother from the Christmas Story film. 50s are "sweatshirt weather£ for me these days.  Of course here it's a more damp climate so the cold feels worse.

There's a Rtie Aid only a few blocks away but, again because I have a condition that could trigger a reaction, I feel more comfortable going to a medical centre or clinic.

...Wisconsin was a much nicer place decades ago before all the industry packed up and moved out and cratered the economic base like happened to a number of "Rust Belt" cities..  Several years ago I was finding nice homes in my old neighbourhood on the south side for around 90k$- 110$K If they were here in Portland, you wouldn't 'be able to touch any them for under 400$K - 500$K..One that caught my eye (even delivered newspapers there when I was a lad) had 4 bedrooms full finished cellar 2 baths and a garage which listed for 98$K (yeah, that's how depressed the economy has been in the state's largest city until recently), and this was in a nice old quiet working class neighbourhood..

Steven's Point in the north central part of the state was "tundra country" in winter but had nice summers Really got to like the slower pace of small town life Could bike or walk pretty much everywhere I needed to go. Living costs were good With the college there had decent entertainment, particularly in the classical music realm.  The downside jobs,. Save for Sentry Insurance (headquartered there) and the college, there wasn't much else than the typical restaurant/pub/retail scene.. If i weren't for the winters and a certain other "climate" I won't go into here, it would be a nice town to retire to. My SS income would definitely go further there than in here Portland.

COMPLAINT: I know damn well that any form of precipitation and cold weather hurt my body severally, but WTH is this crap? No snow and 55F on Christmas day! This is the only day of the year I don't mind being in horrific pain. I wanna wake up to snow on the ground and cold weather. This does not feel like Christmas.

I have told you before, that you are living too far south.

We had just some color on the groud, but yesterday and today it has been snowing and it's a bit more than ankle deep now, which is about as much as I can stand.

Siri told me it is currently 72 and clear. However my weather app says 70.
