It still feels just like 2121.

    Oh wait... it's still 2121.

    That totally explains that.

I sorta shaved my head - well, there's a first time for everything - I guess.

I've gone all over the internet looking for Mistara. Can't find anything newer than her last visit here. I am fearing the worst, and I'm pretty sure the name on her books (Misty Lara Prendville) is a nom de plume. So somewhere in New York... (sad heart).

I believe that name is pretty close to her actual name.

Several DAZ members have tried to track her down as well and with a little detective work managed find a bunch of things that matched up with things she's mentioned in her posts, including an address... a couple of cards were sent, but as far as I know, none of us got a response.

I can only hope that she is living with a relative or convalescing somewhere.

The only New Years eve that was relly different for me was 2000.. worked from 8:00PM the 31st, to 8:00Am Jan 01, in our "war room" for Y2K - monitoring and testing and co-ordinating the verification ofour IT systems one by one during and after the rollover - lots of precautions, including a couple of diesel locos parked onthe main line outside our offices that were configured to provid emergancy power if needed... (and they company fed us well, too!)

One of my housemates is yelling at the top of her lungs to go to the hospital.  It is hard to sleep with that yelling.

...ah but I want it all to be magic and sparkles. peace on earth, free ponies, cats & dogs living together, and the clock on the VCR suddenly displaying the correct time.

...bugger, thought the Holiday ketchup sale would continue though the weekend and not just be one day (was really enjoying that loyalty bonus). Had other things to attend to than fumbling around in the new store format. Had other things to attend to like dealing with being "carpet bombed" by political emails before year's end. Woke up to find 177 in my inbox this morning and was bombarded all day until about 2 hours ago, Also had to squeeze in a grocery run today before the next deluge hits on Sunday which will last into midweek (not sure if the market is open tomorrow because of he holiday).

Second bugger. The latest version of Norton 360 Deluxe I purchased over a week and a half ago at Newegg has been sitting at hte local distribution hub with the message: Shipment Received, Package Acceptance Pending (whatever that means) for a day and a half now According to USPS tracking it was supposed to be delivered yesterday.here isn't evne a phone number to the centre to call them as if I could pik i t up, I'd have a freind drive me over there to get it.  The screwy part is it was supposed to ship UPS but I discovered was contracted out to "Molasses Mail" even though the tracking number worked on the UPS site.

The worst part is the USPS CS has one of those annoying AI bots, but unlike others, there is no way to bypass it by simply contnuing to press "0"  until you get a live person. I had to go through teh whole mess of giving thme he tracking nmber ( which is soething lie 20 digits and was in a very small font)  and after finally getting it to take, I was given the same message and no option to talk to an actual person to get an explanation of what that "Acceptance Pending" meant or log acomplaint.  still miffed that this ervice change was done without my knowledge.I can see it if I lived in a rural area that wasn't served by UPS, but not the middle of a city.

Should have thought about going thorough Prime as they have their own fleet of aeroplanes and vans.  Might have got it last week. The thing is Newegg usually deep discounts Norton software near year's end. Really needed it by today so I could cancel the auto subscription before day's end tomorrow (no mail delivery because it's a holiday). Now I'll just have to pay the full price of 104$ which sets back the system upgrade even further and when I get the packeage toss it in a drawer until next year.

Well, Happy 2022... Apparently the New Year is looking pretty much the same as the old year...

Already my laptop is lying to me... "Installing 1 Item... About 1 minute and 33 seconds remaining..."

Yeah... so far that's a very long "1 minute 33 seconds"... It's been like ten minutes already... lying pile of integrated circuits.

after watching Jen Greenlees's videos on how to make a dress I understand why some clothes cost $18 or more in Daz 3D and Renderosity.

According to the author of the book "Habits of Highly Successful Annoying People" or whatever that book was called, if one has many tasks to accomplish in short amount of time, they should make a list in order of most important to least important and subsequently attempt to accomplish these tasks in that order and when they are done, you should write a smug book about how organized and efficient you are.

You probably don't have to write a book, but apparently every successful idiot who can tie their own shoes is compelled to share with the world how great, effective and focused they are, and incidentally make a wheelbarrow full of cash because so many ordinary unsuccessful, but less annoying people figure that if you write a book about how successful you are, you must be successful and by reading that book they can become successful too... unfortunately, generally they only become successful at being annoying because they keep telling other people what a life changing book the Highly Successful Annoying Person wrote was, and how focused and successful they are going to be now that they read it... which I suppose is some measure of success in itself, but not necessarily the one they originally may have been aiming for.

Reading books about how to be successfully annoying is not a bad thing, unless you are a tree and you aren't opposed to reading stuff written on the ground up remains of your kin... Some of these "how to be successful" books do teach you important things like how not to accidentally set yourself on fire while writing a list or why writing lists is the most important thing you'll ever do.

Which is why I wrote my own book, "Buy This Book or You'll Always Be An Unsuccessful Dope - A guide to being smarter and better than everyone else"... it's got over 200 pages devoted to making lists and then smugly lording that over people who don't... it even has ten pages devoted to making judgemental sounds and expressions when other people tell you they forgot to do something... it's a great read and technically you don't even have to read it at all... you just have to place it on your coffee table or book shelf where people can see it, and they'll automatically assume you are highly successful and smarter then them, and will give you money and expensive gifts because of that.

I hope this helps you figure out how to accomplish all the things you need to... it probably won't, but if it does you should brag about how smart and successful you are now and people might fear and respect you more.

    Cheers!

...I have that happen a lot while waiting for the street tram in my neighbourhood.  I'll get to the stop, see the time on the arrival display, look up a couple minutes later and it's the same or even a minute or so longer before it will arrive

....Bugger had two instances of Chrome open, thought I was on the other when  I pressed the F5 key to refresh and instead did so to this one causing me to lose everything I was writing.

Anyway this year did start out different in one way, no more Terex sized truck loads of emails being dumped in my inbox (finally) as it is the new year.  Slept in lat, not because of partying, (I didn't even go anywhere) but stayed up to get some work in Daz done without returning to another full page of emails in my inbox.  During all of Friday I received a total of 1,013 emails (not counting those routed to the Spam folder) most of which were ones begging for money before year's end.  I have filters to catch and send those to another folder so I can keep tabs on the count) but for some reason lately a large majority have been bypassing them. It's as if the senders got wise to what people like myself are doing and found ways to word them so they wouldn't be blocked (sort of how news sites now detect if you have an advert blocker on and won't let you continue until you turn it off).

Heard a lot of bangs and booms but these days it's tough to tell if it was pyrotechnics or gunfire as shooting incidents have dramatically increased here as of late.  It's become so bad that the police department has been pulling officers off of other duties like traffic parking, public safety, and even investigation for neighbourhood patrol assignment to try and reverse the trend of gun related incidents.

At least  a rather quiet day on several fronts today, I'll take it as a good sign though big wet and high winds coming in form the Pacific beginning tomorrow, could have used some of this last summer.

    Thanks for the laughs.

Edit; I made some hot cocoa, but I am afraid it is too hot.  I am also afraid if I wait too long to drink it, it will be cold cocoa.

I'm upset.  It seems I'm not allowed to watch tv or do anything but clean and organize my closet.  If I'm not doing anything with my closet, I'm called a baby?
