I'm pretty sure Norton 360 isn't worth any money.

I agree, it isn't worth the $80 retail price, but I never buy at retail price.  I wait for once or twice yearly sales at NewEgg and get my Norton360 via 5-license packs at $25 or $30 so the yearly cost to run my well liked Norton360 on my 5 machines is just $5 or $6 per machine.  Good bargain.  And I really really do like and trust Norton.  I have for over 20 years, even through the bad years around 2008.  I don't care what other people say about Norton security products.  They've popped up and protected me several times when I got careless.  And I've NEVER, EVER had a serious virus.  Yeah a few annoying minor malwares crept in a couple times but since I'm normally logged in as an unprivileged user they couldn't do any serious damage.  To cover malware I also manually run the free version of MalwareBytes frequently.  I'm happy happy with Norton.

Complaint:  For the first time in many years I've come down with a really nasty cold.  Sort'a headachy, coughing up lots of phlegm, nose running, body aches.  Started perhaps on Friday, but by Saturday it was getting annoying.  Wastebaskets filling up with soggy Kleenex.  On & off fever.  Short of breath sometimes.  Tired, tired, tired.  Maybe it's Covid or Omicron but unless I get much worse, I'll just ride it out.  I'm fully vaccinated and boosted.  In fact, today(Sunday) is less blah than yesterday was.  I live alone, nobody visits me.  I've got plenty of groceries.  I'll just continue to stay isolated and watch the world go by on TV.  Besides, it's so much fun to yell obscenities at the newsmaker people.

I had a minor cold like period a few weeks ago but that turned out to be something completely different and was over in a little over a day.

None-the-less you still should get tested ASAP. Medicare should cover it so there probably wouldn't be any cost to you and just waiting it out is pretty risky even if you are vaccinated.

I got tested even though it was a small chance I had it.  Turns out I didn't have it but it was nice to know that.

(Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Chapter 9)

The White Rabbit put on his spectacles. “Where shall I begin, please your Majesty?” he asked.
“Begin at the beginning,” the King said gravely, “and go on till you come to the end: then stop.”

I think I'm coming down with a clod (sic).

There is no cure for the common clod.

i'm trying to understand what normal maps are.  I wonder if unusual or abnormal maps exist.

  • A normal is a unit vector orthogonal to an entity. In other words, it a line one unit long that sticks out from whatever it is normal to (usually a polygon or vertex). A normal map uses colours to specify a differnt direction for the line, and the surface at that point is lit as if it was facing in that direction instead of its real facing direction.

Even Summers and Loki have the blahs!   They could be swimming around and pecking at stuff, but they are resting in a corner.  The same corner of their tank.  Also the snails are MIA (hopefully sleeping under a fake plant or out of my view.

I found a way to play a playlist on YouTube over and over.  It is the album of Enchanto.  It is the music of a Disney movie with same name.

i was about to edit my comment saying that I found the answer but the forums stopped working correctly.  Thanks for the explaination though.  From what I understand is normal maps add subtle details to the whole material.  Gonna play around with ambient color property now.

I quit using Norton about 15 yrs ago cause it was causing to many conflicts with some of the software we were using at the time. I know its not a problem now but it's getting pretty expensive anymore. I just use Avast which I think we are gonna get rid of and try something else. I just haven't found one yet that I know has a good track record with catching things. Avast does really good but they are getting pricey and pushy to add extra features to your plan which is why we are getting rid of it. I'm really tired of getting a add twice a day from them pop up on my computer to "add this to your plan and save" Yeah I am going to save, but uninstall you butt and not renewing.

I use AVAST and like it. However, if you want to change, the paid version of MalwareBytes would be a good alternative. If you catch it on sale it is not too expensive.

It gets confusing.  When she is upset she would call me a baby, but when she isn't upset she is nice.

I'm sorry, but I don't see it that way.  If I am infected, then because of how contagious Omicron is I don't want friends to drive me to hospital or doctors.  Nor do I want or currently need ambulance service.  And what if they do test me and find out it's Covid or Omicron?  What are they going to do about it?  They'll park me in an overcrowed hospital hallway teaming with other patients and people wandering around.  If I'm lucky they'll send me home and tell me to stay in bed and stay away from people.  OK, I'm doing that.cheeky  And I'm going to keep on doing that for probably another year.  No, sir.  I'm going to trust the vaccinations and my own body to handle the situation.  I'm being kept track of by friends so I'm not panicing.  But if I do get worse I'll reassess the situation.  If I survive, is it important for me to know that I had Covid or Omicron?  Someday, I'll have a blood test again and one of the things they'll find is my Covid status.  But I really don't need to know.  If I'm one of the very rare people susceptible to the virus even after vaccinations and it flares out of control in me, then so be it.  I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.  I've already taken my precautions and trusted the science to come up with a functioning vaccine, and they came up with at least three.  Good on 'em.

Yeah, this is a miserable feeling, head feels stuffed with cotton, nose drips, phlegm breaks up and gets coughed out now and then, I have 1 degree of temperature, but I've handled worse than this even when old.

I do use the paid version of Malwarebytes and it's worth every penny even not on sale. I absolutely love that program. It has saved me many times over. Actually just reupped my subscription 2 days ago. I swear it flags everything that even resembles malware. It stops it and tells you what it is so I can go look it up and see what it does. It catches crap no other app will catch. Another one I like for spyware is SuperAntispyware to remove all the tracking cookie and PUP apps.

Blechhh...:  Miserable night, went to bed at 9:00 PM, woke up about 8 times during the night, tossing, turning, sweating, peeing.  The latter has turned a miserable night into a celebratory incident because this morning I weighed-in at 199.4.  Wheee... under 200 pounds for the first time in decades!smiley  I was 160 pounds when I was about 19 in college  I took-up body-building and struggled to get up to 180, then 190.  I was so hot! (yes, I had a mirror addiction).  But then life threw me a curve and I slacked off, but after another decade, I got back into weights again and pushed my way up to 200, 210 and finally to 220 where I peaked at a deliciously bedable and lickable 223 and even entered some contests (without significant winningssad)  Then age started to peek into the situation and I slacked off again, and kept eating like a body-builder but was living the life of a couch potato and came perilously close to 250 pounds (249.8) of lard in a sack.  Not a good combination.  I freaked out when I saw 250 on the map again about a year ago and just started eating less and eating more wisely.  I'd hate to give up my couch potato life by forcing my old bones & joints into action again.  They already scream enough as it is.   It's taken me at least a full year to lose the 50 pounds, nice and slow.  This method has worked for me.  Your milage may vary.

I think the thing that most distressed me most about my excess weight was my fat fingers.  I've always been a pianist and have always been proud of my strong, lithe, elegant fingers.  But when they started looking like sausages I knew it was time to do something about it.  And of course the fat ankles, droopy jowls, and permanent tire around my waist weren't desirable either.  I'm almost thin enough now that I can get into my favorite leather jacket again.  Wheee...  Just another 10 pounds.  190 here I come.enlightened
