Forum Changes?

marblemarble Posts: 7,500

Unless it is something I have changed in my browser settings (or I am imagining things) the forum looks different today. Different font?

I have been clicking on pages and posts and the response has been good (for a welcome change). I do hope that is due to updates and not a fluke.

yeah, I noticed the new fonts a few hours ago.Very clean looking and easy to read, for me.

Don't know if anything else has changed though.

  • i don't care for it either. but that has never stopped them.

    This new font IS EYEBLEEDING

    Really worse for me.

Hoped it's a temporary glitch. Will give up on reading most themes from now.

    yeah, not a fan! no

  • akmerlowakmerlow Posts: 1,124

Problem is. It's one of those fonts. Which should only ever be used for titles or subtitles. And for "overall" texts.

Yeah, this font takes up way more space than the previous. It's extremely hard to read for me.

The font seems smaller to me. I've had to wear glasses snce age 2 as it is. This is harder to read for me.

I also have near-sightedness and wear glasses. Maybe one of reasons it impacts us more?

I love the new font. Believe it or not, its easier on my eyes (well, good eye).

I'd love to know if its a font that's avaliable online, or if its "Daz use only".

    font-family: "Poppins","Roboto",helvetica,sans-serif;

  • Actually, this is only terrible for me because it's on a BLINDINGLY WHITE background. If they gave us a dark mode, this wouldn't be so bad.

+1 That would help me, too. Then font type wouldn't really be so much of a problem.

My eyes are amazing, so I don't have a problem with the font on that basis. It was a little strange at first, but before too long I'll probably forget that it was ever different.

The change that bothers me is that a description is now required to post an image to the gallery.

...when I saw this, I was about to go into my browser settings to see what happened to the font (Arial) I have it set to.  Chrome often updates without telling you.

Now if they'd only fix the forum search engine....

[Tried to insert a solid underline to separate the the streams of thought but that shows up as individual dashes now.]

Hmm so you now have to write something up to submit a work.  Other sites make that an option.  Maybe I won't bother opening a new gallery page.

Deleted it several months ago when the NFT thing began.

The new font is too wide, makes it more difficult to read and wastes space (I hate space being wasted angry)

Please post something there or on forum... my ISP have blocked dA again. So i'm cut off from dA-only dazzers again (and dont want to use vpn and risk 15+ years account)

When I used to have a web site I would tinker with different fonts but it soon became obvious to me that there is a reason the same fonts are used on most web pages - they just look right. I don't know why that is but I gave up trying to use fonts which seemed appealing only to find that I didn't like it the next time I looked.

More importantly: have they made any other changes? Has the hosting improved or the search function? I am fed up of waiting minutes after clicking on a post ...

[EDIT] - Nope - I just got another timeout waiting for this post to be submitted. The hosting is as bad as ever.

    ...DA or the gallery here?

I can't access deviantart without "special means".

DAZ Gallery, of course, reachable as ever for me.

It's how anything new is mostly done nowadays... Change the colors, fonts and make the "productive" space smaller than it was, who cares about functional improvements.

...as I mentioned I closed my gallery here because of the NFT thing as Daz has the rights to use any images posted there.  I have been hesitant to post anything there since..

Also, as Gordig mentioned you now have to compose a description or the image won't post, which I also think is ridiculous.

    Which ISP do you use?

The new font is hard to read, smaller, even on my large monitor, and increases my snow-blindness when I look at the main page.

Rather hideous. The problem can be seen clearly in the phrase "Leave a Comment". Look how stretched out "Comment" looks compared to "Leave". This is especially apparent when enlarged and bolded, as it is in the Leave a Comment box.

Count your blessings - on my terminal (at the moment Firefox running Windows 10) entering a message still calls up a regular size, 5:7 ratio Arial or Tahoma-type sans serif font.

Hey DAZ why not go all the way - 24 pt. Railroad Western font for everything! Or my personal favorite - Railroad Roman!!! <DUCKS>

Seriously - wider fonts for text by default... nobody does that. )-:

  • At first, I wondered if my browser had been hijacked by (insert foreign bogeyman here).

I'll just deal with it if it's a style sheet change or whatever.

  • It's not only the forum... currently the entire store is displaying in a new font -- store pages, my wishlist, everything.

Not sure about the image description here, but on Twitter there's something optional like that called Alt Text, and it's supposed to help describe the image to people using text dictation tools. Without the description it just says something like [IMG].

So... just asking for a friend... was Comic Sans on the table too at any point?
