I quite like the font. it's nice and...."rounded" (no idea how to describe it) It feels weird to realise that I'm actually liking something daz has done recently laugh

New font does take up more space - which expands my already full sig-line beyond what I'd consider polite ad-space. I wonder if mods can confirm if my sig needs to be clipped as a result of changes?

So... just asking for a friend... was Comic Sans on the table too at any point?

     I'm gonna guess no, lol

  • New font is a little too wide for my tastes. Too spread out. The boldface look makes it more readable for me.

Honestly, I would have preferred Comic Sans. It reads pretty easy aside from being used for totally inappropriate things.

I'm waiting for a Dark Mode for sensitive eyes, it would be more interesting than a new font.

Note: At work we use "Work Sans" https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Work+Sans

Too sparse, leaves too much whitespace. Someone said snowblind? That's exactly what it's like.

I think the new font is harder to read. It shows as smaller. It's also "finer". Does Daz realize the mean age of it's forum participants? Or is this exactly why the font was changed to this? LOL

Completely 100% agree in regards to being harder to read when compared to the previous font, and my vision is damn near 20/20 when it comes to reading stuff. This new font reminds me of a freakin printer that is running low on ink or has some kind of issue with printing consistency. As was already pointed out, its not an ideal font to use at that size and for this particular purpose, unless your goal is to give people eyestrain, migraine headaches, or make them not want to use the forums... For crying out loud, stick to the original font and call it a day...

    ..+1

I acually would expect "A Charming Font" which sort of fits with all the fantasy & horror content here.

...definitely  +1 on the dark mode.

So I wonder what was wrong with Arial as it is the usual standard font for most documents.

Arial and Helvetica are really similar. But this appears to be set to a smaller default point size.

Traditionally web pags tried to use fonts that were already installed on most of the presumed audience's computers. But with webfonts availble that may no longer be the case.

It could be a lot worse, but if modern web design is supposed to be so damned flexible and responsive, there ought to be some way for the audience to choose what they are going to be looking at.

  • Glad it is not just my tablet playing up. This spread out font makes multiple quote posts much more likely to show as a stack of single words to a line in portrait mode which is remarkably irritating. Going to have to turn the brightness down a bit on the screen. All-in-all it feels a bit like I'm being asked to read a child's first reader with spread out words so as not to frighten the child off. Personally, I thought I was an adult who could read. Glad someone prefers it, 'cause I don't.

This is simply painful to look at.

Very much not a fan of this font -- WAY too much space between lines, looks too 'wide' as well.

Reminds me of the days when Burroughs supplied system documentation in print format on tape - eight lines per inch double-spaced. At least they had an excuse - their drum printers never synced the print hammers properly so the lines were all wavy.

I may kill some time tomorrow looking for a browser add-on that will let me override the font selection on specific sites.

I use this extention to get a dark background for pages in chrome - so much easier on the eyes

I wonder if those who are OK with it are browsing from mobile/tablet and not desktop PC with monitor.

I don't have a problem with it on either.

I really don't like the font and any realted changes that have affected the readability.

I have colour-defective vision, and damage to an eye from metal fragments.

It makes it much, much harder to read.

I've been using the same dark mode extention as Mada for a while now, it's much easier on the old eyes than white backgrounds. as a result the font change doesn't look too bad to me.

I find the font nice but unfortunate. The width to height ratio is not ideal, too wide but not enough height. The new line looks like a paragraph, lines should not be separated by more than 1.2, perhaps 1.5 but not 2. The readability is not optimal. There are reasons why Arial, Helvetica or sans-serif are used for most web pages: readability.

This new font actually gives me a headache :( and on top of that I just find it harder to read, feels less smooth for me

    typewriter

    computer code

    <kbd>keyboard phrase</kbd>

    <kbd><samp>sample text</samp></kbd>

I like the new font (I was always a fan of Apple's old 'Avantgarde', which looked a lot like this one), but it's way too small and too fine. It seems to be a fashion at the moment to make fonts almost disappear. Why not no font at all then?

Reading and skimming threads tonight, I've found the new font to be an improvement. It's nice and big on mobile browsers and seems quite a bit easier on the eyes.

Perhaps it's simply sized too small on the desktop version of the site? I only visit on PC when I'm downloading something.

The forum texts are too small on my iPad; I didn't try it on my iMac.
