Complaint!
Co-worker has some kind of creeping crud. Comes in sick Monday. Comes in sick Tuesday.
I turn up with it last night and I'm sick at home today! That son of a sea urchin spread his disease!!! :shut:
So here I sit, just took Dayquil, nose running, slight fever. And KAFF KAFF KAFFFFFFFFFF all the time! :shut:
Thankfully I have plenty of Progresso and Campbells soup I had stocked up in case of getting snowed in, and plenty of creamer for my coffee, so it's less miserable than it could be. :blank:
Going to render and compose when I'm not in my death-bed. :blank:
Grind grind grind more coffee.. this time a mix of the espresso beans and dark roast beans.. yummmmmmmmmmmm.. :)

Some complaints, dunno how meaningful they are but whatevs.
1. Got Baldur's Gate 1. Played through a bit, and consistently get killed at that first Assassination Attempt every single time. Obviously you can't avoid it (Tried every dialogue combination), but nothing I do in comabt seems to work.
Weapons do nothing. Or if they do, I can't tell if they're working (Message Box isn't saying anything, so I guess not).
So I swing and miss, party member swings and misses, he zaps her and she dies instantly. Guards come in to help, they swing and miss, then he zaps me and I die instantly. From dialogue to death, in less than 30 seconds. And I can't walk around this either if I want to continue.
Someone suggested grabbing the two evil dudes earlier and using them to assist (four vs one instead of two vs one) but I dunno.
2. Running into an issue with combat in Age of Wonders 2 again. I'll go into this battle and have a Cannon with me. The AI starts the battle by attacking it with a Ballista, and every single time... Once the bolt hits my Cannon and does damage, the game CTD's with no warning or sound.
Ugh.

I played Baldurs Gate I a long time ago.. I faintly recall dying repeatedly but i don't recall what I did to move on.. :down: I did get past it somehow, so I know it can be done...

I'm insanely pragmatic.. it's not likely to happen. It's mostly for bragging rights, and I seem to have an audience.. so, I figure if I can make beer money I'd qualify as "successful". ;-) Plus, anything on the various compilations goes to help support and promote ambient music, so I get to give back to the community! :cheese:

Hehe, I always figured if I ever started making games, it'd be for the fun and enjoyment and less for being 'successful' or making money. Both great side-bonuses, but I'd rather have fun telling a story or making a game then exploring my own creations than worrying about it being a hit or something. Same goes for art - rather have fun than be popular. :)

I remember Baldur's Gate 2 being pretty merciless too, especially if ye went to wrong place at wrong time. Not so fondly recall getting killed multiple times after stepping out of main city gates by random encounter multiple times, and losing a character to a Petrification trap on a locked door INSIDE the first city. Joy! (Oh and for good measure, there was a bunch of ancient vampires inside. Double joy.)

Yep, that's pretty much my feeling - if I do it for myself, or friends, or like-minded souls I can be very creative. But, I tried to go commercial with my writing and it flat-out killed my creativity. :down: :down: If someone buys my stuff, great, if not, I still get the satisfaction of making someone happy or entertained. :cheese:
When my album is done, it's likely to sell for "anything you want to give".. Bandcamp has a "Choose your own price" option, which I really like. I tend to pay 4-6 bucks for an album, to show my appreciation of the artist and add to his beer token collection (lol).
I'm blessed to hae a talent that I CAN use to make money without the "gotta pay the rent" thing ruining it for me. Whew! :gulp:

Not a bad day today at all. Yes I had to go to work. Yes its cold as all heck outside and there is a winter storm warning on that we are getting more snow tonight but, I checked the site on my phone and caught a Stonemason flash sale. Now I have five new toys to play with when I get home and a coupon to use in March Madness.
Definitely a better day than yesterday.

...yeah, had a few things to sort out, a lot of it surrounding ongoing software issues I commented about on other threads and forums that have made me rethink my investment in all of this. Hopefully if there is ever a 4.8 update it will fix some of the things that were broken in 4.7, though for me, Reality/Lux is pretty much a lost cause.

--Meh weather, barely 50° with rain today and tomorrow.
--Nagging cough from the creeping crud I had the other weekend still annoying me.
--Will have to move by September as the landlady is selling the house. While it was nice to get notice so far in advance, not sure I'll find as good a deal as I've had here the last 17 years. Rents in the city are getting obscene and as I don't drive, don't want to end up out in the burbs.
Non Complaints
--Sunny & near 60°for the weekend though.
--Spring is coming very early daffodils already in bloom with Tulips on the way soon. Many of the flowering trees have already gone into full blossom and leaf buds looking very "fat" on a lot of trees.
