Not sure how the Portland thing will work out, it's early stages yet. :blank:

Why do these cold places have job openings? Why? Because it's COLD in those places, TroutFace. Think about it.

...also Milwaukee's,economy is in the pits, it is the #2 poorest major city in the nation next to Detroit.and one of the less desirable cities to live in based on quality of life.

Many jobs there are inaccessible by transit after MCTS was totally gutted during the recession. (it used to be one of the top transit systems in the nation).

There's much more, but I would mean testing the limits of TOS.

...ah well, enough talking about cold places to live. just finished a plate of Jambalaya using fully organinc non hormone/antibiotic fed pork & beef. Sausage had a bit of a kick to it which was perfect A side of buttered baby carrots and glass of good wine made for a nice simple yet satisfying dinner.

Yeah buying meats from range and organically/vegetarian fed cattle, pigs and chickens may be more expensive, but I don't feel "ugh" the next day.

Trying to eat a lot more healthier as much as I can. It's hard with all the over processed chemically infused, rubbish out there. but I have been feeling much better (save for a nagging cough from a recent virus).

Haven't been to a fast food "joint or even one of those "higher quality" chain restaurants in quite a while now either.

Interesting that the psychologists consider people like myself to suffer from a new "eating disorder" called "Orthorexia" because we try to do the best we can to eat healthy. For once I'm glad to be considered "out of the norm".

Complaints from a raptor: "We can't wear socks or shoes so our feet are always cold when it gets snowy."

I have to show my 3-yr old grandson this raptor in the morning. His problem is that he is always losing his socks, so he shows up at my house with unmatched socks. He has decided that he won't lose them if he never takes them off though. Kids!

At Snoopy's in Corpus Christi, the seagulls got so bad that the owner completely enclosed the outdoor area with chicken wire. You can still enjoy the view and air, but the birds are stymied.

The less people losing their socks the better! :)

    More dromaeosaur fluff
Even dinos need their tea (There's an alternate version of this image that replaces 'tea' with 'coffee')

I try to eat as healthy as I can, but sometimes it's unavoidable in my situation. I've switched from Campbells soups to Progresso (less junk), cut back on McMeals, and now try to hit mid-range local chains or one-off family-run places. I'd move to a place with a kitchenette if I weren't so dead-set on getting out of here ASAP.

Anyway - good for you! Keep it up! :cheese:

I try to not eat at McDonald's

I prefer Carls Jr. myself :)
Some while ago though I was traveling and the folks doin' the driving wanted to go to Mc's. It was SO HARD to read their damn menu, I had to lean over the counter, and their burgers? Not all too great. Fries were super greasy too urf.

I love Carl's fries - they're not TOO greasy or TOO salty, and they look like they're made from potatoes too :)
I always get a Bacon Western there - love those so much. Went there yesterday, the burger was soooo good - had a perfect amount of sauce in it, was just lovely.

As far as true restaurants go though, Sizzler and Applebees are my places to go to when I have the time to sit down and get something awesome :-)

My local haunt is Hardee's, which is owned by the same company as Carl's Jr. Even has mostly the same menu and Happy Star. :)
And both places use the same advertising. It's more or less a meaningless slogan, but you gotta love "Eat Like You Mean It."
Like I'm gonna eat, but my heart isn't in it. :)

    - Woke up at 4:30AM, couldn't get back to sleep
    - 15F outside, high now supposed to be 27F
    - Snow and sleet predicted for Saturday
    - Freezing rain on Sunday
    - Intestines hating on me for the spicy tamale I ate yesterday
    - Need to shop on the way home before the bad weather hits
    - Computer at home is running slow but the antivirus and malware programs say the system is clean
    - Eyes burning a bit today

    Non-complaints:

    - Gonna get a raptor mug :cheese:
    - Payday :)

I bookmarked the mug too for when my check comes in 2 weeks.

Misty, what was wrong with the laptop? I was thinking of getting one like it.

Only twelve hours for that much snow, tjohn. I think you could put all the snow I've experienced in 73 yrs together and still not have that much.

I like Mickey D's. Usually only have the double jalapeno burger. While traveling it's the only place I'll stop for a potty break.
