Isn't that the same thing Facebook is named now?
Really not liking the direction this is going. NFTs are bad enough, but joining Facebook's absurd metaverse?
"Explore the convergence of AI, Blockchain, VR/AR and more"
Ugh. These guys really think that enough people own VR headsets and want to have live chat with 2000s-era looking virtual avatars and spend real money on imaginary collectibles to hold a conference over it?
I used to worry that Adobe or Epic might buy DAZ out. If you guys keep this up, I hope they do.
I would love to share my opinions on this but they would be unwelcome.
Your company your choice but causing me lot's of distress to continue justifying buying stuff from you.
I'd rather have an answer about 3Delight's future rather than gimmicky crypto stuff.
Is daz in some dire financial trouble or something? Seein some worrying things this past year lol
Wait, no complimentary bottle of melted glacier?... Hardest of all hard, hard, hard passes... Metaverse and NFTs... I honestly don't know which one is worse, but props to y'all for taking that to the next level.
LOL
I knew Daz would be getting into the metaverse by providing game assets for crypto-games.
I knew it.
Writing on the wall.
They can't add figure posing tools like IK to their figure posing program, but they can find time for crypto schemes?
Please take this thread to the NFT subforum and bury it where it belongs.
No. Just no to more NFT garbage.
Glad I'm not the only one that wanted to throw up a little. LOL No thanks Daz, on both subjects ;)

Poor Jessica ... trying to post an upbeat invitation with free tickets to something that nobody wants anything to do with. I do worry for my hobby with DAZ heading off in this direction. Am I just a cynic or is this bit laughable ...
Shouldn't this be in the nft forum? ._.
Wait a minute, Metaverse - isn't this the new Second Life that Zuckerberg has renamed his whole corporation after, and which has received such a lukewarm reception from critics?
And then NFTs too... Oh no, thanks.
Metaverse refers to a whole cottage industry of MMO """""""""""""""games""""""""""""""" that use cryptocurrency for microtransations. They rake in millions of dollars, not from gamers, but from cryptoinvestors who want to make money quickly and then cash out before the speculative bubble collapses.
Look up the controversy about "Earth 2" for a prime example.
Something like this?
I can't stop shaking my head. I can't believe Daz would get involved in something like this. Even more incredible in the light of the current conference in Glasgow.
Wot?
/goes back to posing the dolls/
You know, IMO, instead of peddling NFT, maybe they can go back to selling skimpwear, naughty things, and such?
I still don't understand how naked shoulders are a societal problem, but NFT is not at all problematic.
No joke. It would be somehow less embarassing if they sold lewds than that NFT crap.
I'm out.
If I really need an avatar I'll create one myself (note that this forum is the only one I've bothered to use an avatar on).
I don't do VR, because as far as I'm concerned it doesn't exist. What passes for VR is immersive audio/video that may, with work, lead to genuine three-D television - but there's no "reality" without full sensory feedback. Objects need to have weight, inertia, momentum; surfaces need to have texture; and the environment needs to be present - smells, temperature, and wind.
And I refuse to have anything to do with Facebook.
I can.
Providing game assets for these totally-real, not-at-all-a-speculative-bubble metaverse "games" might be a lucrative business opportunity for Daz3D, since one of the main criticisms of these "games" is that they have no actual gameplay, just a storefront to buy and sell items.
THIS.
if they are could they please sell Carrara and maybe Bryce to someone who will develop it
Dear DAZ, have you been reading any news at all lately? Does the name Haugen ring a bell maybe, or COP26? 'Share the love', indeed. Share the hate and pollution, rather. Please stop this. I really want to go on buying here, you have such great assets, but you keep going in directions where I can't follow.
No, seriously. STOP THIS!
I'm looking forward to attending - there's an impressive list of speakers including digital fashion, futurists, AI, game studios, Epic Games and a lot more - not just NFTs.
BTW for those under the impression that the Metaverse is Facebook - its not, even if they would love for it to be, to the point of changing their name to Meta. The one good thing coming from that is the unlinking of XR from facebook accounts since you can't be platform dependent if you want to create the Metaverse.
7 Rules of the Metaverse
Rule #1. There is only one Metaverse.
Rule #2: The Metaverse is for everyone.
Rule #3: Nobody controls the Metaverse.
Rule #4: The Metaverse is open.
Rule #5: The Metaverse is hardware-independent.
Rule #6: The Metaverse is a Network.
Rule #7: The Metaverse is the Internet.
Here's the link to an excellent article that has a clear explanation on what the metaverse is - well worth reading.

Worrying how? They're expanding the customer base with bridges to other programs, and bringing in more customers and professional studios, plus creating opportunities for a lot of artists that's not necessarily visible to users that only get to see the store and forum side of the company.
I have like the only VR game I tried; a freebie space ship travel flight 3D game I got for buying a cheap Google Daydream (or something like that) headpiece for my iPhone. If metaverse is like that it's OK, but I know Occulus is expensive extra for people that already have forced obsolescence of their phone, tablet, and computer hardware and I'm noticing ISPs have been jacking up prices, using every trick in the book to raise them.
And right after Mark Zuckerberg got through telling us he's focusing his entire company on building the metaverse John Carmack comes on and says that he disagrees and the way to get a metaverse is NOT to try and build one but let it evolve. Interesting times ahead.
Rule #8: The Metaverse is full of scammers and griefers.
Once the Zuckster gets involved in the Metaverse, which was already careening towards a microtransaction morass (just listen to the aspirations of any company getting into it, about how microtransactions are the wave of the future and stratospheric profits), is anyone thinking that's not going to have the same exact repercussions it had with the previous "social media" venture... that started out as a "fun way to connect with friends and family"... how's that working out now?
Unless you don't read any news at all it's not exactly hard to see where this will go and how the desire to use cryptocurrency and NFTs as a new way to hook people in will make the situation even worse than the previous VisageTome incarnation... and not for nothing, Oculus is pretty much going to take over the market and unless you buy the way more expensive and subscriptioned pro or business version, you are forced to use Meta to connect... and yes, if you really want you can avoid Meta, but more people will just chose the cheaper more popular option... And Meta/Facebook in its own words has made it pretty clear it's intending to dominate the market, both to share holders and anyone who will listen, so it's not really a misinterpretation to believe this is going to benefit Meta eventually...
I'm just spitballing here, but if we are just trying to do the worst things possible, maybe offer to club one baby seal for every brand new platinum club purchase, or burn an acre of rain forest for ever $50 spent... I'm thinking that's gonna line up real nice with the current direction of travel.
Whatever, the money is still green no matter where it came from... right?
Rule #9: The Metaverse is a dystopian construct.
