It's raining!:  And raining! :) And raining. :-S And raining! :blank: ..and... raining :bug: AND RAINING! :ahhh:

Cab straight to the biker bar tonight. :gulp:

Friday, Payday, had content money so got over $100 of goodies for about $60, then ordered my fancy work socks AND an electric coffee bean grinder with my leftover discretionary income. Shopping therapy! :cheese:

No sign of, or word from, the hardware dude. I feel left out to dry AND thrown under the bus, all at the same time. :shut: So, to Hell with him..

As the character Tallahassee in Zombieland said, "It's time to nut up, or shut up"! :snake:

So here I am, researching how load capacitors can cause a crystal oscillator to fail, AND learning how to determine what the proper load capacitance is computed. :shut: I am now learning complex circuit design. :blank:

Definitely beer and vodka tonight... :snake:

I hope you've had an enjoyable evening. Mine was spent with PayPal Customer Support. Finally gave up trying to access my account (need to update card info) and the manager and I decided we should give their system until in the morning to catch up. ??????????????????

Maybe your hardware guy already has a new job...with PayPal.

Ian passed out after his rose bubble bath. It was the only bubble bath I had and he didn't bring his Mr. Bubbles with him.

Just think of this as an excellent way to learn so many new things. :coolcheese:

Dealing with Paypal has always been an awful experience for me. :shut:

 maybe he did bail so he could go mess up Paypal! :bug:

Bubble bath.. I could use one...

Yeah.. I keep thinking this is a great way to learn new, valuable skills.. but it's a PITA right now because I really want to ship this thing. I suspect that I should just build up my savings, stay here until the project dies, then bail and not have to say I jumped from the burning ship (which is kind of explainable, but still).

    Meh, I guess. :blank:

Going to send out for Chinese today, stay home, be lazy.

More playing with iRay, just for grins.. still horribly show on this machine but I can go off and do Other Things(tm) while it renders. I need to RTFM on lights, though.. scene appears quite dark, I know there's a thread on this somewhere... :blank:

Got my coffee into me, 2 mugs i my fave Raptor mug! :cheese: The pic on the mug always makes me smile.

Chinese food ordered, should show up in about an hour. Ma Po tofu, dry fried green beans with chicken, wonton soup, hot and sour soup, and a pupu platter! :cheese: Enough for the whole weekend since this delivery place is closed Sunday.

Will start a new album tune called "The Unquiet Void" today, when not rendering. Only 4 more songs and the album will be done! :cheese:  Well, it'll need mastering.. that's going to be fun. :blank:

Got hungries, I skipped breakfast.. not too smart.

Take a look at [http://www.daz3d.com/forums/viewreply/778481/]posts 26 and 27 in this thread. SickleYield and DAZ_KatBriggs give some advice about lighting. You want to use the new photo lights. Sorry, I forgot the term. I'm away from my fast computer now.

Also interesting: Using a null as the sun. There is a post about using the sun dial to position the sun in the latter pages of that thread.

    edit: forgot something as usual.

It seems Monica has dropped her contact lens. Can you help her find it? :snake:

Her right arm and leg look washed out on my monitor. I think the LCD monitor is set too bright. I'll look at the render on my older computer. Thanks for sharing.

The lighting is kind of iffy, this done in DS4.8 and I might have done something wrong... :red:

At least your issue with the lighting is easy to solve. I'm stumped with my scene. I have Calais in the scene with no other characters. I believe someone said that this is a bug related to renderman software and sub surface scattering. Re-applying the texture didn't solve the issue.

Go to your DS Temp folder (usually in the AppData folder>Roaming>DAZ 3D>Studio 4), then the Shader>Brickyard folder and delete the contents. That should force DS to rebuild the Shader Mixer shader when you render.

Why do some shaders not work with iRay?

Shaders are specific to a render engine for the most part. DS can make a reasonable stab at translating settings for the standard shaders to the Iray uber Base shader, but custom shaders or unusual settings for the standard shaders may well defeat it.

    Subsurface Shader Base
    http://docs.daz3d.com/lib/exe/fetch.php/public/read_me/index/16324/16324_subsurface-shader-base.pdf

Post SSS diffuse tells the subsurface portion of the shader to consider the outer surface as being solid white. :shut:

Here is a 3delight render and a iRay Render of the same thing.
