Canceled my Digital Tutors subscription last night. Was tempted to take up the 20% Off coupon offer they had, but honestly I haven't been doing much in the way of 3D'ing these months or even launched the Offline Browser in like, well... Months. So it was pretty much $47 a month going towards nothing.

I do plan on renewing it later, but right now I just haven't been using it enough to justify the monthly cost.

Sounds steep for a web service, can't believe how expensive traing is in places. But the rates for VFx and mograph ppl are going through the floor is just another thing that don't make sense

Well I'm using the 'advanced' plan. Basic is half that much, but doesn't give you access to the Offline Player. Really cool tool by the way. If you have a shoddy internet or are camping, you can still watch the training just fine.

So much for shopping today - rain all day. :blank: Will have to send out or walk in the rain to the Mexican place. And no shopping tomorrow, no bus service on Sunday.

However, my laptop cooling pad came in yesterday - installed it today - 4 fans :bug: - and now the fans rarely speed up in the laptop unless rendering (like it is now). :cheese:

Nibbling cheese and cashews for breakfast, listening to the rain. Thank Heavens the ba is close enough to walk to without getting soaked, I'm down to 4 beers! :ahhh:

I hope everyone is having a great weekend! :cheese:

Try something different then like making silhouettes and when you are happy with those add a point light in front of a face and adjust a fall off parameter for a while, see how that works :)

I just realized that distant lights make skin look unnatural. Thanks for the tips.

I have the same issue with Bryce. Textures look like a low resolution image on a terrain. I should play around with the texture settings.

This is why I specialize in pinups and album/song cover art.. most sales don't do anything to help in those areas! :smirk:

Still fun to window shop.. :red:

...I do notice in 3DL that Distant Lights tend to wash out skin sometimes or look too "hot" even though the rest of the scene looks fine. Playing around with SSS can help, but you really have to know how to use it's settings.

I also often use a low intensity Advanced spotlight (set as a point light) for "fill" lighting on figures. While it is also possible to create a "soft box" with an uber area light one has to be careful that it doesn't over illuminate the rest of the scene. This is why I like the AoA lights I can just flag the skin to be illuminated, thus not throwing off the lighting for the rest of the scene. One needs to also colour match the point light to the Distant light so it doesn't t look like a flash was used (unless that is the effect you want). In 3DL.

...it's tough though when you are into illustrating stories and your modelling skills sucketh like mine.

...hmmmm, Mythical Weekend Sale, looks like I'll be saving money. Only thing that interests me are Ironman13's Fae poses collection as I like partial body poses.
