Mystery Grab Bag?

Has anyone bought it? I'm not plunking down thirty bucks for someone unknown stuff.

  • My guess is it's like the Noa & Knight series, or the infamous Season Pass. Only you get the unknowns faster and without some fancy Exclusive Freebie.

Iam also not going for unknowns that would probably be mostly 8.1, which I don't use, or dForce, which I seldom use plus a few things for genres I'm not into.

I know better than to get "mystery" stuff from this place after the whole Season Pass fiasco.

  • Well at least all the items are advertised as "Never before seen"; so, there shouldn't be anything you already have. And at $30 for 10 items that is only $3 per item. I know better but I may go for it anyway.

I'm tempted to do this with, "You can return it for a refund or store credit" in mind, but my luck would be nine items I HATE (and don't want cluttering my library) and one item I can't live without, but can't get anywhere else, so...

I was thinking this, too. It doesn't say anywhere that you can't return it, so I'm probably going to buy it. And if I hate it, I'll return it.

$29.95 is not bad for 10 PA items.

xtrart-3d and Alessandro_AM are good names, but who are the 8 other artists....?

It's a bit of a cat in the bad. If the USD exchange rate wouldn't be so bad, I would try it with a Save6 coupon

  • I just bought it ... I also got a brief look at the mistake page that's since been edited. Considering anything by AM tends to be worth that price to begin with, I don't expect to be disappointed.

AND it is a 'new' item so one can use the coupon to get a Starter bundle for about $12 AND for those into buying printing rights, snag that for the bundle @ $1.99 fast too!

    ...totally in agreement as well.

With my luck, 9 horror and/or "sexy" items which I'd have no interest in..

...and what if one or two of the items needs somethign as a reperequisite that you don't have?

    In a telegraphic shortcut:

1 - Character assets are for Generation 8+

    2 - It's a no-theme mixed bag

3 - The usual store pricing-wise, even the half of the bundle is far more than about $30

    4 - It's all new

5 - At least half of it is not lingerie

I'm happy with x-art and mousso so the rest will be nice to have for $3 each. In for a penny, in for a pound.

...being on a tight budget (retiree on pension) I do not purchase items that I possibly or likely wouldn't or ever have a use for (and definitely wouldn't do so "blindly").  This is why I've rarely even purchased figure/character bundles and just went with the base figure along with maybe separate clothing and hair content included in the bundle that I liked.

  • I am told the Mousso character should be appearing in people's accounts now.

The marketing schemes they come up with always amaze me in that I almost always think "who's going to buy into that?" but clearly they do because the schemes keep coming. I don't buy bundles (never seen one that contained more than one or two items I would really want) and I don't buy in conditional sales ("Get this at 50% if you buy any New Release").  Judging by what the DAZ marketers usually want to offer in bundles, I wouldn't go near one that is a buy-blind risk. Yet it will attract a lot of punters and I will end up scratching my head in amazement at the next scheme, next week.

Aye, aye... Pssst... buddy... yeah, you... you look like a smart fella... how's about I show you this mystery box here... one of a kind... and what's more, is it's fer sale... oh... no, sorry, you can't see what's inside, but it's guaranteed to have never been seen before... I swear on my dear mom's grave, god rest her soul... I ah, just thought that such a smart looking fella such as ya self, what was dressed so sharp too, would know a good investment when he saw one... but I could be wrong... of course if you aren't interested... What?... why certainly... here you go... uh... just don't open it unti tomorrow or you won'ts be suprized.

See the other thread on this for thoughts on what "never seen before might mean."  Also, keep in mind that with the recent habit of doing breakout items, this may actually only be three or full full items.  It IS cheap, but not that much cheaper than a lot of the breakout items have been...

  • The mystery grab bag is a *far* better type of promotion than artificial exclusives. If you don't want to gamble on its contents, or if you can't afford it right now, you can buy the grab bag items later.

Both the total price ($30) and the price-per-item - which is comparable clearance prices - seem appropriate to the nature of the promotion. It's much better than "spend $100+ now or miss this exclusive forever!"

It does irk me a bit that the product list has been removed. As it released this morning, customers had just enough information to decide if they were comfortable chancing it. But now it's a fully blind purchase for later buyers.

I was wondering about that. As I understand it Daz have a 30 day unconditional return policy and I can't see anything saying it doesn't apply to this. But it doesn't make sense. Usually the reason for making the contents of a sale a mystery is so the buyer has to take a chance and maybe get stuck with something they don't want. If everyone who doesn't like it can return it they might as well just tell us what is in it and save all the sale/return hassle.

    Gasp!

  • So non-purchasers will never know the contents of the mystery bag!..?..Unless someone squeals.

  • DAZ really confuses me with it's convoluted deals and offers, yesterday I had 12% off for streaking today I have nothing in spite of a purchase yesterday, presumably one that somehow didn't qualify maybe, who knows, not buying anything today then that's for sure as a sunk cost fallacy surprise

I got it & still have no clue what was in it lol :) How can I tell in DIM or Product Library what the items were? I splurged as an early Bday gift lol. --- Oh I missed the area on the page that said they'll be revealed 9/5

I love this lol:) I can picture these peeps hiding near a dark alley doing the deal like in the old victorian type movies.

The cynic in me, predicts very little, if any, will be useful to male characters.

DAZ changed the display on the sale page and it no longer shows what your discount is. Did you check in your cart?

  • While I saw what was (presumably) a product listing before it was altered this morning, and there were products in there I felt I probably wanted, I have specifically opted out of buying this bundle, as I don't think this kind of "loot box" marketing is ethical.

Also, count me in as someone who wonders how this is even supposed to work with Daz's 30 day returns.

interesting (yes says day 6 of streaking) but also nothing I need on sale for more than 50% and I need to save money so still a sunk cost fallacy

    Mystery Bag?

Is this Daz's attempt to delve into the lootboxes abyss or something?

Hard pass, even if I saw the list of items before it got deleted, and if my memory serves, there was something intriguing with Steampunk in the name.

  • Never in my life have I bought something without knowing what I was buying. This has zero chance of changing that.

This. I don't need female stuff. Got a ton.
