I took a chance on it. Kinda wish I'd seen it early enough for the list so I'd have a vague idea of what I bought, but otherwise, it seemed an ok deal.

What I saw from the list, it seemed pretty varied and decent. But, there were no images, so it was still a guess. I think it wouldn't be bad for a promotion like this one to at least give either the product names or the names of the artists/developers involved. It'd still be a bit of a gamble.

Say, a product is named "Martian Spacefighter", then we still wouldn't know whether it was in a style we'd be interested in, or whether it has an interior or not.
Same with listing the artists instead: Alessandro mostly makes animals, but also made a couple of environments, props (still, very nice ones, I must say!), and even some meshmaker tool. So it'd still be anyones guess what it would be. And that goes for most artists and developers here. At best, listing the artists would give a crude idea about the category of the contents and the quality.

So listing either the designer or the productnames (I wouldn't list both) would probably help mistery promotions like these.

At work, to cover living costs and not willing to spend money at the current exchange rate on items that have DAZ excited as past experiences have taught it that what DAZ considers exciting differs substantially from what I do.

I'm afraid I didn't screenshot it, as I didn't expect it to be deleted.

In addition, it is possible that Daz now changes some of the contents to keep it a surprise to the early birds as well, and not give us an unfair advantage.

Don't give them any ideas!!! {they hopefully would never do that. I really want that {____}.

That would merit refunds for dissatisfied customers, if the contents were changed from what was listed at the time of purchase.

But I don't think that's likely - it would be a needless disruption to their release schedule, for no real benefit.

At first it was a hard no for me because I didn’t see Mousso as one of the artists and I love all of their characters. I do like the three artists mentioned but not knowing about the rest is still keeping me at a soft no. I especially don’t need any more male characters which will probably be included to balance it out. Would anyone who saw the original list be willing to share? It will only help sales and lower returns. This concept is silly.

    I sent you a PM.

  • I literally only bought it because they mentioned Alessandro. He makes stuff I can use. The last thing I need is more girls and lingerie. If it's disappointing, like all girl stuff, I'm returning it.

You don't think Daz doesn't know their customers and what they want. Don't forget that 90% or so of the customer base isn't in or on this forum. How do anyone in this forum know what that 90% wants? The only people who do know is Daz. They have the sales numbers by promotion, not us so, any discussion of what the customers want is a moot point and purely speculative and does noting besides cause confusion and unjust anger so lets refrain from those types of statements please.

Well, I AM a customer, too, right, and I'm not into these gimmicks at all and have been coming less and less to the store because of the weird new sales policies. I understand that you're saying there's tons of other people who don't voice their thoughts here, but it's not exactly like the people in the forums should be completely disregarded because they're such an unimportant minority. Especially since many, many of us are not only active forumites, but quite heavy buyers as well. So, I do see your point, but some respect for us, on the other hand, would also feel appropriate.

No one ever said anything about disrespecting the forum users and I'm sorry if you took my post that way. I was merely pointing out that Daz has to also consider the bulk of their customer base as well. However, if it wasn't for the forum members we wouldn't be able to catch all of the store and sale problems every day. We wouldn't be able to quickly get products fixed if it weren't for the forum members letting us know about it so we can get it quickly fixed with QA. There are so many things I didn't mention that happen on a daily basis that make the forum users very important. The forum users do play an important roll in Daz's business which is why they take yours and our opinions into consideration (even though it may not be noticeable, but believe me it is and does happen quite often) when we are fighting for you guys on a daily bases trying to get you guys some of the stuff you are requesting and wanting to see happen and to make things fairer for all. You guys aren't the only ones that don't agree with some of the decisions and choices that are made and we make it known to them in some cases. We are also customers and have opinions and want to see some things changed.

Ah, but you assume that there is any logic at all in what DAZ does and it's not just throwing linguine at the wall to see what sticks.

Hah-hah, at first glance I read that as "...and it's not just throwing lingerie at the wall to see what sticks"  and got a good chuckle. Seemed appropriate.

    Day 1 - wear underwear

    Day 2 - wear backwards

Day 3 - wear inside out

Day 4 - wear inside out and backwards

Throw at wall - if it doesn't stick go to day 1

I'm sure DAZ knows what their customers want, which is why the Mystery Bundle is probably full of opening toilet seat, rigged doors, doorways into other rooms, and historically accurate ancient Egyptian and Greek lingerie for Spuggles and Henrietta Hen.

Mark my words on this and see if I'm not right.

It's a mistake to assume that marketing knows what they are doing. In my experience with a very large entertainment company, they spend most of their time running after bandwagons that have left the station, trying to reinvent the wheel, and assuming that their customer base is stupid.

Okay, saving your words -- I saw the Product before they changed it so I already know whether this is right or wrong ;-)  However the entire bundle you suggest does sound like a wonderful package for April 1 or some such date ;-)

Yep, that's pretty much been my experience with marketing people as well, and lately it's been made worse by the attempts to use only tangentally related web analytics to justify results as positive.  I'm constantly amazed at how many seemingly rational people just don't get the fact that it doesn't matter how many more hits one is getting on one's website if the actual end sales results aren't actually going up.

But... if the items are supposed to be "never before seen", doen't the fact that you've already seen what's wassupposed to be in them mean that they'll have to change it to something else so that it remains "never before seen."  That said, I'd actually buy what McGyver proposed.

Oh nobody saw pictures!!! We just saw the name of the product and PA. No pics ;-)

All product page links were 404.

My take is that the store has a large numbers of new items offered every day, but not all of them are of interest to eveyrone. Don't need more lingerie, no problem, there's lots of other stuff but there's also people who do want more lingerie. A new clothing pack for males is exactly what you were looking for? Great, but the people looking for a new female toon character aren't interested.

This is just one more thing that will be of interest for some, but like everything else, it's not for everyone. While $30 amounts to 10 $3.00 items is a pretty decent price, if you don't have that much disposible income for the DAZ store you'll probably find something that you want more rather than buy a pig-in-a-poke; smply put, this isn't for you.

It is for people with that much disposable income who treat it like a game, they pay their money and they takes their chances not because they're sure they'll get exacatly what they want or need, but because, for them, the gamble is fun, and at the end of the game they *will* have something to show for it (unlike playing online poker).

So, nothing in the store is for everyone, but I'm sure that this is something that some people will enjoy very much.

  • Will note that I have a library full of things I may only use once, or only use part of, so possibly not using all of it isn't necessarily an issue. Just as long as it's mostly useful

  • Well no automated addition of anything to my library yet. Any no new products in the libraries of the said vendors. Might take some time obviously.

Either there IS an automated procedure that adds the items, and that one is not functioning. Or they have to add the items manually.

Either way, given that it is Labor Day, I have little hope that the items will be added today.
