OK forum team, what the heck is going on with the constant signout bs that's going on today?  3rd time I've had to log on from that ANNOYING message "hang on, while we sign you out" ..... Not very friendly regardless of how that's stated.  You got a paranoid code monkey heading the team or something?  Trust me, it's just me on this computer so please lighten up with this log on thing.  Sheesh no

...since we are stuck with "auto save draft", we really need a Cancel Post button if we decide not to post something.

It is irritating to come back to a thread and still see something you wrote (and even deleted) from a comment you decided not to submit still in the edit window.

Would eliminate a wasting thread space with "NM" posts.

After a draft auto-saves you can get rid of it.... you need to refresh or something, but click the gear icon in the upper right and there should be a My Drafts item...you delete them from there.  When you click on it, you'll be taken to a page with your drafts on it.

...again more hoops than need to be dealt with.  A Cancel Post button would be so much simpler.

Updates should make online life simpler, not more complex.

Drafts appear when a post is edited and it doesn't help to delete what's in the field. Next time you come back, it's still there. A CANCEL button is all that is needed. This forum software or its implementation is so convoluted that a handbook for users wouldn't be amiss.

...yeah, it seems that anything which was once a simple "one click" solution now requires multiple steps and convoluted actions.

It's as if the Blender development team was called in to redesign the Daz Forums.

Still looking for an answer as to how all this is supposed to improve and enhance the "user experience".

I said it in another post. It is the worst forum software I have used in the twenty five years or so I have been online frown I am using it and getting used to the way it works, still doesn't mean I like it or that it is easy to navigate laugh

Just click on the gear and go to drafts and delete it

  • ChoholeChohole Posts: 33,604

I must be unique in rather liking the drafts. No more losing a long, well thought out post before posting it, due to unforseen circumstances. That to me was more annoying than having to delete the occasional unrequired draft.

    Agreed!

The auto drafts are OK, I suppose, but that's just one among a handful of plus points set against so much else getting on all our nerves. E.g. will anything ever be done about the jumpy-scrolly-bouncy loading-in-fits-and-starts of forum pages that leaves the top of every single page hidden under the breadcrumb trail? It might not be a showstopper of a bug, but it's beginning to fray at one of my last remaining nerves. I'm getting tired of seeing what seems to be a blank post, and having to scroll up to see what someone's actually written.

I made it a habit to write my posts in a text editor and copy paste it. I haven't had draft versions before and I don't need one now. If it is available for those appreciating it, that's fine with me. Just add a delete button, that's much simpler than going to the gear and locate the draft to delete it.

...did the same here using notepad for a while. Had one too many posts go *poof* because power outages, the site go offline or being logged out from the previous forum after I clicked "post comment".

Then I discovered the Lazarus plugin, which is my secondary backup, that allows me to recall everything I had written up to the point the connection was lost with just a simple right click.

...and just to note, the spelling "connexion" hasn't been much used since the mid 20th century.

I'm having problems with the forums and the site logging me off too often. This is especially an issue when trying to review something on my phone.

I dislike that the site also wants me to sign in to view responses sent to me. Terribly inconvenient on the phone. I should at least be able to hyperlink to the post in question.

One other thing, would it be too much to ask to have hyperlinks open in a new tab!? Other forums have been doing this for donkey's years. It's really frustrating having to click 'back' all the time after you click links. I did ask for this in a feature request, possibly while these forums were being worked on. Surely it can't be that hard to implement. I'm well aware you can use 'ctrl click', but, we shouldn't have to.

That seems to be under the control of the author of the post.  You can choose the target of the link.  There are several options, one being "_blank", which is the one you are requesting.  Perhaps it would be best if they implemented that as a default.

Yes, that would be good. I don't think anyone realises there are options, they just paste and assume that's it.

Attached images also don't open a new tab because the target is not defined. Hyperlinks in a comment can be given a target in source mode but attached image files are different.

My avatar has vanished again.    ....fine, I'll be back in few months,  if ever

I don´t know if someone brought up this annoying issue:

Lets say the Forum Search comes up with something useful where someone is quoted. Since the posts have only a date and no longer a time, thats really a pain. Good luck finding the original post or the initial question  in a 37 pages dicussion. :-P

....fine, I'll be back in few months,  if ever

Well, I know what you mean.

They came up with DS4.8 and Iray, my first thought was: Thats really cool! By trying to figure out how things work, I totally lost interest because the only thing people discussed was their Graphic Cards.

They came up with Genesis3, my first thought was: Thats really cool! By trying to figure out, whats new and whats improved, I totally lost interest because the only thing people discussed was, they cant afford the additional Morph Bundles, because they have invested in a new Graphic Card last month.

They came up with a new Forum Software, who cares?

Whats coming next? Couldn´t care less!

    Hello to a fellow Brit!

It doesn't always bother me about spell check, even if it's not right folk will get the gist of what you're saying. At least we all use proper sentences here and not text speak.

Yeah not the be all and end all but I do like to use real English. ;)

I tried searching to see if this has been discussed but got so many irrelevant hits that I figured I'd post.  I apologize if this has been covered.

All of the e-mail messages I recieve for threads I've subscribed to have broekn links.  The hyperlink includes only the first part of the URL.  The rest of it appears as text after a CR (see attached).  IS nayone else experiencing this?

That's what I'm getting too, and at least one other member.

It is happening for a whole lot of people actually.  I am tending to think I may actually be in the minority because it doesn't happen to me

WE are told that it is email provider specific.

Open up your email client, under preferences set the word wrap to 72 and see if that helps. If it is already 72 then keep increasing it until all the link is on the one line. Save this and close the progrm. Reopen it and see if the link is still split. The = sign at the split means that the line has been wrapped.

The thing there is that we are using Windows Live Mail, a program that opens and displays the emails we get from our provider. There is no word wrap function in Windows Live Mail. I also checked Outlook.com itself, there is no word wrap there either. It displays what you give it, so, I'm not sure it is provider specific. The email links show up broken no matter where you look and we can't fix that. This issue only arose after the new forums came into play, so that would suggest that the problem lies there.

I'm not on my main computer that has Outlook Express on it but I am nearly positive that it has a word wrap setting in the preferences. I use Mozilla Thunderbird on this laptop and I don't get the split links.
