My DIscussions should be threads you started, while My Bookmarks should be all threads you've bookmarked.

My DIscussions should be threads you started, while My Bookmarks should be all threads you've bookmarked.

Same question as before then - where is "My BookMarks" ? It's not on the drop-down from the coggy-thing top-right of the page...

...neither is it on the drop-down from the coggy-thing on the right of my posts...

(Edit: once you know the answer it's sort-of 'obvious' - you need to manually bookmark* at least one thread before "My Bookmarks"appears as mentioned a few posts below)

Hmm, I have it right above "My Discussions" -- can you post a screen shot?

  • SpottedKittySpottedKitty Posts: 7,232

And I have a "My Bookmarks", but I don't have a "My Discussions". Does this mean I haven't started any threads since the forum changeover? I'm not quite sure whether or not I have.

Which brings up another please-tell-me-it's-not-supposed-to-work-this-way question — does this mean we don't have direct one-click access any more to old-forum threads that we started?

  • fixmypcmikefixmypcmike Posts: 19,613

I have threads I created before the changeover in My Discussions.

  • SpottedKittySpottedKitty Posts: 7,232

Well, since I don't have a My Discussions, I can't test that. Time for a bug report?

  • fixmypcmikefixmypcmike Posts: 19,613

If you would -- I've reported the issue, but it would be good for them to be in direct contact with you and 3dcheapskate

Will it save confusion at CS if we both call it "the coggy-thing dropdown menu"...?  devil

Something else, just in case we forget who you all are, can someone reinstate a designation showing your role if you work for Daz? Just so we can tell you from regular members.

    CHEERS!

    I second that request!

Here's a fresh screenshot from a different angle.

Hmmm... maybe it doesn't show "My Bookmarks" because I haven't created any?  Every star thingy that's gone orangey-yellowish for me has been automatically coloured in. I wonder if "My Bookmarks" will appear if I manually add a bookmark?

Okay, that makes sense. You need to manually make at least one bookmark to see "My Bookmarks".

Next question(s). Why do I suddenly have 83 bookmarks? I expected to see just 1, or possibly 60 ( =59+1).

Sorry if this has been answered before but I don't have the time to plough through 40 pages of thread! There does not seem to be a way to "follow" a discussion, without actually posting to it?  And also, even when I have posted to certain threads, I am not receiving email reminders about it (but I do on other threads!).  Help!

You need to click on the little arrow to turn it orange, like in the image 3DCheapskate posted below, if you reply to a thread, it does not automatically subcribe you to it like the old forum used to do.

Agreed — I don't use an animated avatar, but some of the ones I remember from the old forums were fun.

Especially when they moved unexpectedly...  wink

Agreed, I would like to add my vote to this. Where-as I do not have an animated one, I do enjoy seeing the other ones, and I think I may wish to add one in the future.

That was uploaded on the older forum softwear, and you didn't fuss with it (and pleas dont mess with it). The new forum softwear breaks animated gif files when there uploaded to the forum, both with posts and avatras... or did they fix that.

    Nope, still broken.

Animated gifs work if loaded from an external source and inserted as an image

Well, it's not moving from my HDD, and there is no 'insert link' for your avatar. Hmmm.

  • ChoholeChohole Posts: 33,604

Yes, not quite certain why they won't work with new avatars.

  • wizwiz Posts: 1,100

    Yay!

The default avatars are gone. Thank you, whoever pulled the plug on that horrible mistake.

  • RAMWolffRAMWolff Posts: 10,249

Yea, those horrid "smiley" faces are gone but in their place is nothing so all you no avatar folks get to work and put your avaies up!

On the animated gif thing.. yup, my WolfBlink avatar came over just fine from the old forums but I changed mine to a dark background to match the slate of the dark theme and no more blinking Wolffie so I just put my own mug... kinda bummed me out.  I have my Wolff head in the banner now... doesn't blink but it's OK!

Folks, the images are missing from the last two pages of this thread that I visited- didn't go further back. The avatar images are there, but the textbox images aren't.

Thanks to you and JimmyC.  I almost forgot I had posted the question, as I didn't get a reminder! Is it just me, or does it seem they are changing things for the sake of changing things rather than actually making anything better?

    It is NOT just you.

I get that feeling too, there was nothing wrong with the forums as they were.

    CHEERS!

Well I'm constantly reminded of the title of this forum thread so unless they go too crazy (like with making the thread notifications turn off and log on issues become an issue again for god only knows what reason, I just try to keep an open mind about MOST of this craziness.... as they say "there is a method to ones madness" let's hope so!  devil

I do agree, the emoticons sort of suck though!  lol

I am flabbergasted that there are so many people who thought there was nothing wrong with the old forums.  I never heard anyone say that over the past 3 years.

  • SpottedKittySpottedKitty Posts: 7,232

Oh, there was plenty wrong with the old forums, right from the start, that was never really fixed properly. It's just that this is such a completely different and much more extensive "plenty wrong" — it's going to take us a while to get used to it, find all the wrinkles, and fine-tune our complaints and aaaiiieee-mails to Support...  cheeky
