I don't think the log in problems are forum software...I think it's browser/security software.

If it were site/forum wide it would be a much larger group being affected.

Weirdly enough I don't have to log on here at work but at home I have to all the time... I use the same browser with the same plugins (since Firefox has a sync option that I use to make sure both experiences are the same) so not sure if it's really about the browser security...... I'll guarantee when I get home tonight from work I'll have to log on...

One of the BIG annoyances with the logon is that the page, once logged on, takes you to your account.  I'd dearly love it if the coders would PLEASE take the user back to the page they were on previously.  This is a really annoying issue I'm having with the new forums and store.

    Thanks!

It's a hard bug to track down I'm assuming cause its only happeneing to a handful of people.

I'm struggling to work out who this new arrangement is benefitting. As a user experience it's an absolute nightmare, and the only thing I can see Daz getting out of it is a reputation for dogged and fruitless persistence in the face of disaster. It must be costing them a small fortune in man and woman hours trying to sort it all out, and I know I've only really bought cheap sale products since it became it became harder to find user experience and discussion on the forum (with decent-sized pictures!) relating to anything else.

If one exists, I always find the forum connected to anything I use or purchase regularly and have lost count of the ones I've been involved in over the years. I have encountered many bugs hiding in forums, but this is the first time I've ever come across a forum hiding in a giant bug. It reminds me a lot of using the free Wordpress blogging platform, finding it does the job well and so stuffing it with plugins to do the jobs of other standalone apps you can't afford and then wondering why it keeps falling over and can't do anything at all. As it is, the forum screams 'unprofessional' and suggests that whoever owns it lacks the funds (or the sense) to use the better solutions that their competitors are employing. It certainly doesn't hint that it's the home of a thriving art community that's being encouraged to hang around and grow bigger.

If getting people to stay is the idea (I'm beginning to wonder!), start by having the (woefully small) images open in a new window again. More than once I have clicked the 'X' in the corner of the image, only to find I've exited the entire forum. Often I just don't bother coming back again, and I suspect I'm not the only one.

It's neither, I haven't made any changes to any settings there. It only happened when the new forum software came in.

Not making any changes doesn't mean much. Yes, the change in software could mean that in order to maintain functioning you would NEED to make a change. What security software, if any are you running? It seems Bullgaurd was causing problems for some...

I'm using Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes Anti Malware. Nobody else that has reported this has said anything about software other than the forum sofware. Considering what else it has been responsible for, it's a safe bet that it's causing this too. Until someone from Daz confirms what's happening, I suggest we quit speculating and wait for hard facts.

..++1.  This has been an issue since the previous forum software. Same for the store  The account landing page should only appear if one intends to go to it.

..and please find some way to keep SCAYT spell checking active or accommodate the Firefox and other browser spell checkers.Getting really tired of always having to turn it on and make sure language and any custom dictionaries are selected.each time one writes a comment. there are times this stp can be forgotten which then requires reopening the post to spell check it.

Also, please remove the misspellings for "the" ("teh" & "hte") from the main dictionary.

A couple of days ago when I view an order, the links at the bottom of the screen are now appearing in the middle of the browser window.  It was fine, appearing at the bottom of the screen, prior to that.  I'm using Windows 8.1, IE11.  When I move the screen up and down, the bar remains in that fixed vertical position and does not "float".

I wanted to know if anyone else is experiencing this before I report the issue.

EDIT:  The vertical placement of the offending menu bar varies with the IE II Page>Zoom setting.  I have a work-around so this now a non-issue for me personally.

We saw that on one Product Page and reported it, I've pointed them to this post as well.

Me too, just last night. Only one store page for one of the brand new items; every other page I visited was stable. And it's all OK now.

Anyone else having trouble with image attachments not taking on the first one or two attempts to load it? It's been that way for two days now- and not consistent. Sometimes it loads on the first try, other times it takes two or three and the little square comes up and no image. I checked it after posting thinking it might still show up, but no.

I tried a test in another forum, as some were having problems, and I attached 7 images to the same post, each one attached with no problems, They were random images, all my own renders and done at various times. This is going to be another one of those glitches which does not affect everyone, thus making it difficult to track down.

    Oh, gotcha,

I had trouble with attachments in the first week or so, but none since. I attached some yesterday and they went through first go.

Yes, I've had that problem for at least a couple weeks. It is intermittent.

it happens to me every once in a while, I just figure it something getting dropped along the way to being loaded. ( a Traffic thing)

once I had to load 6 times before one loaded. it's not consistent and not repeatable, it's just random for me

  • NovicaNovica Posts: 23,905

It's doing it all times of the day and night- with varying amounts of traffic. (Aka no difference between 6pm, 9pm, 2am, 4am, etc)

logically, i'm signed in, returning to the forum page, shouldn't that be fairly apparent i want to be signed in?

and sometimes my safari browser gives me a certificate warning, do i really want to continue...

and sometimes when i hit my backspace key to correct my spelling, it back pages instead?

Could we please get a date back on individual comments?

The timestamp displays the time if it's a post from today, month and day for previous days this year, or month day year for previous years.  Hovering over the timestamp gives the full date and time.

Pretty sure Pwiecek is talking about the same thing I brought up yesterday. Now I have quoted both of you. We know what Pwiecek wrote, we know what Fixmypcmike wrote.

But we don´t know when they wrote. This is a pain if you are monitoring search results. How many pages in this discussion do I have to go back to see Pwieceks Original post?

In the old Forum it was easy to do, just go back to a page near the time and date, scrolling up and down until I reached the initial question.

And now? Maybe Pwieceks question is on Page 38? Or Page 25? Page 2? How to look up the initial question in a 39 Pages discussion?

So I second the initial question, could we please get a date and time back on individual comments?

Actually, I was saying that there were no dates on the posts AT ALL.

Looking now I see the dates. The problem is that the dates are located in the exact place that used to show the join date of the commenter, so I ignored them.

Uhmmm, why are all my messages suddenly gone from my inbox, including the one I had just received a notification for?

Is there a way to get rid of that gray navigation bar at the top of every page?  I constantly have to scroll down to see the top line of text that's underneath it.  Not a big deal, but starting to get vaguely annoying every time I'm taken to a page that you can't read the first sentence of without scrolling.  Wondered if there was some configuration option to hide it.
