It hasn't happened in this session....yet...
CHEERS!
sometimes i have this problem with the bottom banner in the store pages, it floats up and blocks product information
signed out when I went to page.
Not quite sure what the advantage is to that but maybe somone could make me stay signed in like I was in my last session and if I want to sign out I can do it manually.
Known about, reported some time ago, acknowledged. Intermittent occurrence
Does the cookie in question time out? Could the time out be set wrong? Some sites have a "keep me logged in 2 weeks" checkbox. Maybe this is just a "keep me logged in 30 hours only" checkbox (or whatever value, haven't figured it out yet, don't actually know how often it happens or if it's totally random), and it works great, and the problem is the opposite direction, people AREN'T supposed to stay logged in? haha. ::sigh:: maybe not.
Is there any way to fake the login? Like have something set up to just auto-login every hour or something? I have no web skills... Of course that's no good when my computer is off. Or alternatively, is there any way to block the auto-logout without blocking the rest of the site? I don't actually know if it really performs "log you out" logic of some kind or if the logout just happens automagically when the website detects (or doesn't detect) something else.
Since yesterday I haven't been kicked out once. I'm not saying it's fixed, but....
CHEERS!
Sometimes I stay logged for several hours and the next day for a few 10 minutes at best. Yesterday I left the browser open (minimised) with the forum page and stayed logged all the time.
Yes, I always leave the shop main page open in a browser (minimised) mostly so I can go in periodically and hit refresh in case a flash sale has appeared.
Possibly as a result, I have never been logged out from the shop nor from the forums from day to day, unless I shut down and restart Windows (I tend to do this only once a week or so, leaving my laptop in hibernate state overnight the rest of the time).
Same here. Now my question is rather simple, lol. Did someone get a little overzealous with the black-out marker before they 'declassified' the text for the product?
It's all good, I was only curious what that PA targeted product was all about. Clearly I don't have the 'clearance' or 'Need to know', so I'll move on to non-PA stuff.
(EDIT)
It's kind of messed up, hiding what the 'requirements' are with that bar, or covering up the description of the product with it. I'll pass, as I don't like situations involving 'False pretenses'.
Yea, me as well. Ongoing for days now.... that silly banner is like in the middle of the page. Code needs tweaking... again!
Seems they fixed that annoying logon issue where your taken to your account page rather than the last page you are on. At least it happened one time.. not sure if it will happen again but it was an annoyance so hopefully that's fixed....
If you log in from the top, you get the 'Keep me logged in', but, if you go to the bottom of the forum page and do it, you're taken to a different log in screen. I think you get kicked out when you log in through this screen rather than at the top.
CHEERS!
I don't see any login option at the bottom of the forum pages, where is that? I see and have used the blue person icon in the top right, but that hasn't prevented me from getting logged out repeatedly in the past, so I don't think logging in that way is the solution.
If your logged out and you scroll to the bottom it's there. And your right, the top logon takes you to the account page when you log in. I REALLY wish they would fix that for both. I had to log on again this AM, top log on and sure enough, back to the old messed up set up of taking me back to my account page rather than the page I was just on! What's with that? It's stupid!
Excuse me, when did a case of formatting gone wrong become False pretences. Every time we come across a page like this we let the right people know and it gets fixed, as the one you showed has been corrected.
Quite true Chohole. Calling a 'Glitch' in the page layout that ends up obstructing important information about a product, as a form of 'False pretenses', is a bit harsh. Even if the timing of it all was rather 'unfortunate' for the products that happened to be on sale, especially for the new releases that I'm sure others would be less willing to take a 'gamble' with them being compatible with there needs.
It is somewhere between how I feel about how it just happened to go wrong, and an attempt of sarcastic humor. I know full well that Daz3d did not intentionally do that to the page. However, there are simpler 'ways', to make a webpage that dose not have parts that can spontaneously obstruct other parts of the page, especially for things that are not meant to hover as the page is scrolled. I admit that my knowledge of HTML tables is rather limited, I know of the existence of something called 'Frames', and I don't know much at all about other web page formats.
Thank you daz for fixing that 'obnoxious glitch', That and the forum has been improving considerably.
Its probably been asked and answered but since I can't look it up. When will the forum search be up and running?
There is a search available here: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/search?Search
It doesn't allow you to choose by forum, or pick the subject vs. the body, or any of those things though, it's a basic search.
Uou can use the Search Forum box at top-right of this page too, no need to go to a separate page.
That is one of the areas that was a rather important 'fix' for the new forum. Mostly because of what the new post URL format did to all the other search engines for at least the first few days. I don't recall the old forum having any "such refinements", tho for the most part it was a search. Honestly, I use to use that old forum search and Google on a daily basses. After that forum change, I gave up looking for tutorials.
wow, this spell/grammar check truly is lobotomized, and no thesaurus, lol. Some times I just don't see the correct word in the list, other times I haven't a clue what is the correct one (akin to/too for example). The busticated copy and paste thing isn't much help, as a compounded limitation of the new forum.
I still run into that logout rapid-page-load-loop-glitch when I come back after a few hours from an e-mail notice. It's almost a dreadful thought of what it's doing to the servers as I try to click the 'stop loading page' button before it's onto loading the next one in rapid succession. I don't think that has anything to do with the download notice I've seen the past few hours, at least I hope there still separate servers after the forum change-over, lol.
For me, the trick to a good forum is for it to be easy to navigate, with everything where you expect it to be and good solid functions, key to which is a good solid search engine. Most others I go to may look more primitive than this does, but, they work and keep working. It's one thing to be proud of something that looks flashy on the surface, but that pride will soon fade if there's nothing solid under the hood.
CHEERS!
...+1.
..and misspellings that have been saved to the dictionary for the spell checker still have not been purged. Apologies I'm dyslexic and thsse "saved" misspellings are more than annoying as well as the oft ridiculous suggestions for common typos..
What would it take to allow the browser's spell check to be used instead?
When you're busy, like admins seem to be, you don't have time to check spelling. Most of their recent posts have had glaring typos, but, when you don't get the wavy orange line under it, you just assume it's right. Your own work is always the hardest to proofread.
CHEERS!
I am fluent in typonese
Now that most of the major major problems seem to have been resolved - more or less...
...how about fixing things so that the old URLs for posts before the latest forum change work ? For example:
Old link (doesn't work): http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/23706/P120/#802083
New link (works): http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/802083/#Comment_802083
To me an automated redirect looks trivial...
(Edit: (response to chohole's post below...) LOL, really bad example - the post in question is actually the first post on page 5, and all my old-style links to posts on that thread go to the top of the final page - page 5. See this post for a better example!)
Both those links take me to the same post
A beter example would be the thread for my test chamber. I had links that lead directly to the post with the maps in it, now they don't work. For example;
The "Tile01002spec1" Specular Map [ CC0 (Public Domain) ].
http://www.daz3d.com/forums/viewreply/685452/
The "Hematite2" diffuse map floor tile [ CC0 (Public Domain) ].
http://www.daz3d.com/forums/viewreply/685503/
Hmmm. The actual posts are near the bottom of the page, somewhere, lol.
http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/685452/#Comment_685452
and the 'Hematite2'
http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/685503/#Comment_685503
So yea, it's been rather discuraging to consider how to fix that entire texture map thread mess, lol.
Those links work for me just fine. I don't understand your comment. Am I the only one?
Dana
It's doing it again...
That just made me hope there's a flash sale that includes Ninive 6 as I really like that character for her.
CHEERS!
