...arrrgh!!!!!! I hear you. Clicked "Reply" and I was sent to the store sign in page, then after signing in to my account page instead of back to the thread.
Fifteen bleedin' months and the forums as still not working right. Really hate to see you go because of this, but then others have left since the changeover after getting tired of all the ongoing glitches and failures of this supposedly "improved, upgraded" site. This would have killed the former company I worked for if they had to deal with this for the same amount of time.
Still, keep in touch. I believe you have my email addy. If you don't, PM me and I'll give it to you.
Good news for chocoholics:
...I'll go for that.

Each to there own, believe what you wish but I prefer blaming the right thing and not the wrong thing. And I hate Cloud myself. I see no reason why another form of security could not be used by this site.
ate 2 packets of oatmeal, still hungry. i think it's cause Autumn is coming. my body wants to ready up for winter hibernating. :) luv the smell of cinnamonmonmon

...I've been told by others it isn't due to CloudFlare.so there are mixed signals as to where the fault is. All I know is...
1. It is very annoying if not overly frustrating.
2. It is not mitigated by proper browser maintenance on the user's part (despite what some have been told)
3. It appears to happen to various community members at random and can persist for a while.
4. It doesn't seem to matter what type of connection one has, it affects everyone from wireless, to dial up to high speed cable.
5. It has been going far longer than it should, and thus to many, gives the appearance that Daz management/development doesn't care about the community who buys their products.
This is about the only place where people can come to learn about what they have purchased and what they are doing. The product Wiki is a broken down incomplete mess and there have been no updates to software documentation, in some cases, for over five years. How many more months are we going to have to deal with this? If the forums and site continue to fail as regularly as they have, others will eventually leave out of frustration as well.
Heck, when it comes to coding and development, Ed is definitely no slouch, so I tend to consider his opinions/critiques about this sort of stuff to be meaningful and valid. I can see his point when he spends his workdays debugging hardware and software, and then comes home to relax, only to face the same sort of thing here but is unable to do anything about it.
Egad, sorry to see the Woolyloach depart (v_v)...
... and whether it's a coding problem on the DAZ end, or a Cloudy problem somewhere else, the latter was still CHOSEN as the distribution mechanism to use - therefore it is in their ability to FIX the problem by REMOVING that element of the chain and using a system that functions.
On the flip side, I've noticed that problem only rarely now (across IE8 and FF20-something)... perhaps once a week *touch wood*, which is odd, because usually the bitstream tends to degrade by the time it gets down here (as distinct from y'all on the mainland with sub 50ms ping times >_<).</p>

Oh, and nummy chocolate! :9
ETA: a little positive news, for those who remember, I should mention Fisty's getting married (^_^)d.
I took some ranitidine (yes, I know about the potential side effects) afterward, which helped to settle it. Thing is, I'm stressed up to my gills, as days trundle onwards to 30th. On 30th, I have to head to regional hospital with my mom, and docs will poke and prod and see what's up with her brainmeats, and depending on what they find... well. That's when things may go interesting. :/ So I'm anxious and stressed and generally being anything but my cheery avatar.
Damn ebots! Haven't heard from them all day for this forum! >:-( Useless piece of...
I used to take ranitidine. Omeprazole works much better. Again, see your doctor, don't try to self-diagnose. Assuming it's because of stress may give you a false sense of well being. Don't mess with this, it can hurt you...badly.

Seems you got the green fog working well enough.

Oh, Wooly...don't go. We'll miss you!

i'm seeing a new ds ad following me around the internet today, it's not the powdered donut beastie, it's the girl6 naos. i'd rather be stalked by Aiko.
which one is a kewler title font? herculanum(1) or morpheus(2)?
if they change to a new forum s/w, but still have the cloud in the middle, prolly won't help with the synchronizing the login?
Good morning everyone!

i just signed up at the twitter. added you to my follow list.
same thing happened to me last night when I was trying to edit my post in the Art Studio forum. In fact, the whole website (forum and store) seems to be five times slower than usual.
I personally prefer Morpheus :)
Thanks. Morpheus it is then.
anyone else on the tweets? it wants me to follow 5 for a timeline thingee, so far i have 2. :)

...there is another site I'm on that uses Magento and it works just fine for the store and forums there. No timeouts, no long waits, no misdirects.
Heck, I get on to one of the busier sites on the Net (ESPN) regularly and experience none of the issues I see here. It opens quickly, takes your sign in and sends you back to the page you were on, it doesn't lag when changing pages, it doesn't timeout users who are currently active online, and it doesn't misdirect you in any way (even during "peak load" days like on Sunday during the NFL season or a major playoff/tournament).
So it has to be with the way in which the software and servers are set up here which is why we have continued to experience these instabilities for over a year now. What this says to me is that, quite possibly, the hardware here may not be up to the task of running the site and software adequately. Instead of a true "mirror" site like other services use, there is this cloud service to maintain the appearance the site is still operating when in truth, it is not. Try to do anything other than browse the front page, and a CloudFlare message/error page pops up, often with some server location elsewhere in the world (I've seen a number of different cities both here and abroad). Add to this the fact it appears to have a major and persistent impact on the site as a whole as it tends to affect what should be routine operations such as sign ins, forum posting, and user account status.
With regards to the forums logging users out, apparently the setup has somehow substituted the store login (with it's timeout function) in place of the forums login (even though there is a separate forums sign in, I know, I have seen it, though not recently). Also, login timeouts should be triggered by a set period of user inactivity instead of how long a user has been signed in (or randomly as it seems here).
Nothing is more frustrating than writing a detailed post on a particular process when trying to help someone and then after clicking "Submit Post", to be taken to the sign in page, be misdirected to one's account page, or in some cases, getting a blank "Post a New Reply" form.
This has been happening with far too much regularity for far too long and patience is starting to wear very thin with many here. Again these forums are pretty much the main source of online "help", training, new product announcements, and what serves as as a soundingboard for new ideas. In short, they are important to the business of developing and selling software and content, yet given what we have been seeing, they seem to be nothing more than an afterthought.
The old site may have been held together with bailing wire, chewing gum and duct tape, however in comparison, it seemed a darn side more stable and reliable than what we have been experiencing over these last fifteen months.
Amen!
