Where all of this becomes extremely irritating is that, as I just snapped to when a product I just purchased two days ago disappeared from the store without warning,DAZ seems to have stopped publishing Read mes completely in the WIki section.  The highest number range that's even shown in the documentation center is 700000-70999, with 70999 being the Samue outfit by Tentman that was released in mid-July.  So, whether by intent or not, they're making it increasingly harder for purchasers to manage and spotcheck the actual contents of each product, even on NEW products that are just entering the store.   .

The Index might not be there, but the individual ReadMe's after 70999 are definitely available. Pick one, any one, from the list, then type in the SKU in the address bar, replacing the one that's there (i.e., docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/read_me/index/72987/start)

Okay, so they are available if you go sideways like that... but you can't just enter the sku number in the search bar that's sitting right there for that purpose >_<   ???  It's getting to be unreal how badly this site is being maintained.

Thank you Daz!!  The new layout of the product download page is awesome!!

    You are joking I assume

Possibly not showing up for you yet, but for me all the info and touch extra is there

As Novica said, We are still missing information.
Plus at one time we could jump to whatever Product Library page we needed.
When I was redownloading my purchases (when they changed from .exe to .zip archives)
This was very useful because it took me a few sessions to get the lot done.

Having seen it go from that much functionality to a page dumbed down to the level of a bag of hammers, I'd really like it returned to it's former glory.

But it's the same thing they did with Daz Central.  Maybe they believe that it's more important to make a UI pretty to help reel in newbs than it is for it to provide functionality.  It all seems really short-sighted and desperate.

Alternatively reeling in newbs with pretty uis and bright colors is the more finantially stable option and rational choice- If the rate of new users coming in exceeds the people getting fed up an leaving then, financially speaking, that is the correct choice.

... I'm not saying that's a good thing, for the record, just potentially rational

i wonder... will newbs, especially those who respond to things like a pretty UI, actually have the financial power and the steadiness (i.e. stay with daz for a longer time) of more seasoned users that have showeled cash in here for years?

If newbs are put off by a functional store interface I cannot see them sticking with the DAZ|Studio UI.
    Seriously.

so. i just noticed that 1 of the items i had in my priority wishlist has disappeared from the store - and it was someting unique, irreplaceable, absolutely necessary, not just one more cool outfit/figure/prop... i have no clue why the PA (who isn't in the vendor list any more!) decided to go, and if it's related to the recent massive annoyances in the store/daz in general. it might or might not be. but if it is, i wonder how many awesome products i won't be able to buy any more neither here nor somewhere else.

and it pisses me off big time.

i mean, it's sad anyways that people feel they have to quit, and to lose members of a community due to poor management and other failures. but from an egoistic point of view as a customer, especially since i don't know many people personally, it's absolutely enraging for a more practical reason: i don't have the means to do a quick panic shopping of all the products that i really "can't miss" because they're unique and special or whatever, just in case they would disappear from the store - i can barely feed myself and my felines. and if the current ambiance here goes on, other PAs will leave and so will their products.

so please daz, stop pissing off people in clusters, I WOULD VERY MUCH LIKE TO BE ABLE TO BUY THE URGENT STUFF FROM MY WISHLIST, THANK YOU!
or i dunno, gift me with a GC worth 2000$, this should cover the most urgent purchases... just in case.

Sometimes you get lucky and the artist decided to sell their stuff to Daz3d ... and if you are even more lucky Daz3d adds that stuff back to the store in a timeframe that is earlier than "Daz Soon".

Crossing my fingers for you ...

Haven't been here in awhile, but I too am not happy (under statement) with the 'new' product library layout. Many items had info, text, that weren't on product pages, now that's all gone.

Believe me, we've all been there.  Unfortunately, this probablem is getting worse rather than better, as PA seem to be disappearing from DAZ in large groups now... there were apparently about a dozen who vanished right before the PA sale started.  If they're a newer PA, they might show up over at Renderosity or CG Bytes.  If it's an older PA, you're probably out of luck.  All I can say is that if you see something that really catches your eye and it's NOT by one of the ubiquitous 40 PAs who appear constantly in the promotions, you're best off trying to buy it as quickly as possible, as things can  disappear after only being in the store for a few hours now.

So right.  Glad I picked up Zoe's Jackyline outfit when I did.  The textures by F&D are still there.

actually, a miracle has happened: the item i wanted is now available for free, generously offered by the PA on rendo freestuff! (it's wovie's awe system) - mega yay!

but you're right, a catch should be bought as soon as possible, it's what i always intend to do (hence the most wanted from my long wishlist). i just wish my paycheck would follow too. i just spent 1 week on oats or rice with just a sprinkle of salt+herbs dry mix... cuz no veggies/fruit left ~ got my check today and ordered a truckload of produce, lol. probably no daz purchase this month beside the PC+ coupon i think.

Thanks :)  Yes, they do cull vendors who haven't had products in X amount of time. Don't know what the cutoff is for that.  Hope all is well for them, wherever they are, or if they just left of their own volition to do other things.

Dang, that was actually 25 of them...  Now, IIRC, LAST year when that happened, a bunch of those items suddenly resurfaced as DAZ originals with the PC+ sale and were the main fodder in the PC for a day promotions, so maybe some of those items will resurface that way...

At least a few, like Meipe, are still selling and releasing new products at other stores.

As mentioned over in my Art Studio thread, 1stBastion released a list of what was going to be pulled- which was very thoughtful, but they were pulled before/as he posted! (he has no control over the exact time they're pulled. He's a great guy and I know he thought we'd have time to buy them.)

  • Yeah it seems DAZ had an unfortunate moment of efficiency and pulled them really fast

1stBastion said he thought it would take them days

The last time Daz pulled a stunt like this I stopped buying from them for five years.
Not only did I save a load of money, the time I once wasted here was used it to explore and render with the products I had bought in the sales from this and other stores
I was already in a phase of winding down buying products.

Looks like I'll be saving a load more money.

Well, the Product Library has the Product Page linked, and the Read Me. Don't know when that last one got added but this sure is NOT finished so far as "fixing" it. Those descriptions and photos need to be ON THE PRODUCT PAGE. Daz, you ain't done!  (And see the thread on the new store look with the new fushia labels, the little icons showing what type of product it is, etc.)

Must have been just in the last day or so, that's when I last used the Product Library page.

Aaaaaand it's still not quite right — the ReadMe link (and, apparently, the ReadMe itself) isn't there for inactive products. Getting closer, DAZ, but still needs a bit more work.

  • KeryaKerya Posts: 10,943

Funny thing I just learned about Daz Central: you can't download Poser files with it. Sooooo on a Product Library Page for a Poser product there is that prominent "Don't have Daz Central, Install Daz Central" for product where Daz Central doesn't work. LOL

File type still says "Daz Studio" for everything including Bryce files.

Inactive products still have no Readme or Product page information.

    SIGH!

Unfortunately the order number and date have gone ... and some product pages are loading, some don't and only show the black swirly thingie ...

    See this thread: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/446771/a-new-store-will-come-out-tomorrow-2020-11-01/p1

Yep, no order number, no order date, and no SKU so the ReadMe by the plug-in won't work. And it's not exactly the same old page, that "what's included" section is now a scroll up and down section. Appreciate them putting all that information back in, just need the other to make an appearance :)  (And good riddance to DazCentral advertisement.)

I'm not able to download my purchased products at all.  The items show up on left panel, but the right panel, that used to show the item and the download links, is has only a "broken image" graphic.  No way to download anything.

I hope this is a temporary technical difficulty.

Some people have a Product library, some people don't and some people have a partly working product library ... but it is a know issue and they seem to be working on it.

The code for the product library looks fine, they just haven't got all the data fields synced with the database yet, they can't be displayed on the page before that has been fixed.  Just details, they're probably working on more important problems right now.
