Huh, yeah that's not going to be obvious for people who haven't used Discord or Slack before.

If you're not seeing any channels on the left hand side, it's because you need to click on the left-most icon below that "verify-here" message. The icons below are reactions, some people have used other ones which makes it confusing for people not familiar, but the correct one should be staying at the left. I don't know how much time it will take between clicking that to prove you're not a bot and being verified. You should see the other channels after that.

**(Yeah, yeah I can't quote the person with the screenshot, but if you're trying to join and are confused, I'm referring to the screenshot a couple posts about this with the verification message with the discord server rules)

NFTs are bad, very bad for the environment due to the amount of energy needed. That alone should be enough not to participate.

I think Daz/Tafi is just expanding into new areas. I went to the Enter the Metaverse event and it was fascinating. NFTs/ crypto is just part of it. I’m in AltspaceVR where everything is free unless you want to buy something from specific individual creators through their Patreon in USD. (Although some people are creating NFT art galleries.) The Metaverse is coming. It’s like saying you don’t want to use the internet in the beginning years. They are calling it Web 3. I spent a good portion of Covid lockdown in VR and met so many amazing people. AltspaceVR is free and although best in VR can also be used in 2D on a PC. It’s so much fun and a great intro to the Metaverse. I have art galleries there where I blew up my art huge and put it in a cool martini lounge nightclub or on a sci-fi island.

No one is forcing anyone to invest in crypto or NFTs. Most people I meet are creators. I watched the COO of Daz speak on the panel and he was great! And wearing a funny monster avatar the whole time. I think if people saw that, they would lose the whole “Evil Daz Corporate” thing. I wish more people had seen the conference. It’s not some future apocalyptical thing at all, but a way for creatives to market themselves better and get paid in new ways. It’s great for artists! Especially Unity creators!

Dear Daz, could you, pretty please, remove that bloody fugly NFT banner from my gallery page? Those are not my images, they have no place at all being there. Besides, I seriously dislike anything related to NFT and I do not want that in my gallery.

    Thank you.

Lmao, this just keeps getting worse and worse. For anyone holding out hope that Adobe will buy them out and fix this mess, Adobe are big NFT fans - even going so far as to add NFT export options to PS (as far as I know).

Definitely agree with Wendy - all this NFT BS is very helpful in figuring out who to unfriend on social media! I've pruned all my social media, it's amazing.

"Anyone" is probably only me. I don't think the NFT export options have been implemented yet, but Adobe is saying it's more to cement your ownership of an image for better crypto security or whatnot. Their being fans of NFTs is actually news to me though because they don't bombard me with tweets and hideous images of them.

I might, *MIGHT* be more open to NFTs if they 1) weren't so environmentally destructive, 2) weren't so ridiculously expensive, 3) didn't have a community mostly made up of annoying little twerps who act like they're in the days of Studio 54 and believe they're all going to be the next batch of internet billionaires, and 4) if 99.9% of them didn't look like the garbage that you delete during browser maintenence. That's the ONE thing I'll give DAZ credit for here, at least with their NFTs, you get a usable 3D model and the images are at least somewhat artistic.

Still a no from me though.

I'm not joining the discord, but that name looks like it's a specific channel in that discord server. Are you on mobile or desktop? On desktop the channels should be listed in the second column from the left (not the one with the large icons, but the one with text names). On mobile if you click the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines) in the upper left, it will bring up the list of channels on the server and you can click on the correct one.

If there is more to it to get the freebie than that, someone on the server or who has gone there will have to help. But if it's just getting to the channel hopefully this helps!

Discord is a major app for communicating online, a funnily enough one that just held off on exploring further integration with crypto and nfts due to intense negative feedback from users!

ok, thanks, that helped me out.

As always... nothing works with Daz.  Maybe Daz could write some instructions (I know.. LOL) or maybe state what they want Discord to do or how to in some way I can cause it to function on some level?

"Oops you're not verified." just p***es me off when I'm doing what you tell me to do.

I must admit I was impressed at how well the facial capture worked for the avatar he used -  and set up with Daz Studio and Unreal - it showcases the expanded uses for Daz Studio really well :)

The whole metaverse/NFT/crypto kerfuffle seems to split along generational lines and probably makes more sense to people who work in gig economies - and reminds me of the resistance against mobile phones :D

For those interested in getting a better understanding, I found this was a great article and helped me get a better understanding on why people invest in NFTs

Most discord channels do this - its to prevent spambots :) Look for the channel that looks like this on the left of the screen

and then read through the rules and click the hand icon that looks like the first one to show that you understand the rules and agree to abide by them. After that you will be verified to be a person and not a spambot :)

I was super-keen on the new phone technology when it started appearing but I was much younger then. I just don't get Crypto (and yes, I'm now over 70) even though my software developer son has tried to explain it to me. It all seems so insubstantial and dependent on the whims of investors so, rather than the analogy of mobile phones I tend to think of another - that of the Dutch Tulip bubble.

[EDIT] By the way - I didn't see anything in that artcle to convince me that NFTs are worthwhile.

...when I first heard of Metaverse it sounded like the beginnings of the world in a near futuristic dystopian role play game I'm involved with. There instead of the Metaverse they have the Matrix (no affiliation with the film franchise) which is the "net of the future".  Basically everything is connected to it, your commlink (smartphone of the future) home, your job your shopping to even your car, gun and cyber implants.  It's also a Decker's (hacker's) dream come true as it takes the IoT to new highs (or lows depending on your perspective).  Hard currency is a thing of the past (save for the UK) and what we today refer to as "dark money"(untraceable) is the normal medium of exchange in the shadow underworld  Your crabstick is your life, your financial account, your means of transaction, and your identity.(known colloquially as your SIN [System ID Number]) without which you cannot function in the day to day world. Those who fall though society's cracks are referred to as the SINless denizens of the shadows as thy have no national or corporate SIN and thus must rely on the grey and black market to survive, using fake SINs and what are called "certified credsticks" (basically connected to a shadow bank) to get by. The SINless are their own unique subculture that represents a large part of hte population in the world.

In 2065 the Matrix was crashed which pretty much sent the entire world into a deep economic depression for several years. Looking at the situation today ,We've already seen that happen on a smaller scale with all the coordinated hacks of major companies and services. There also is a "shadow underground in RL which uses untraceable currency as its means of exchange and even has markets that sell the latest hacking toots and malware along with schools that train would be hackers.

Yeah, the idea tying everything together like the Metaverse will do somewhat unnerves me. I'll stay on the outside as much as I can

...I basically use mine as... a phone. It also came in handy when our transit system dumped paper tickets (there was a phone ticket app and now a tap card you can "refill").. About the only other use it gets is checking sports scores, weather, when the next bus will arrive, and finding directions.  I' never watch a video or stream on it with that little screen, and as it is an old phone such activity drains the battery dry alike a frat boy chugging a pitcher of beer rush party.

Being from the days when a telephone sat on a little table with a cord leading to the wall, whenever I'm on the phone and someone asks for my number, I have to look it up in my phone's settings as I have trouble remembering it (particularly as I get older) since they added more numbers.  Back in the day, the number had a two letter exchange followed by five numbers and was printed right there on the centre of the dial.

Funny though, I still remember that old number we had when I was growing up.

    N.O.

In every known, unknown, lost, forgotten, yet to be discovered, programmed or otherwise invented language anywhere in the universe and beyond, my answer is a big honking NO to this NFT crud. And not just "No" but "Blankety-Blank NO!" You couldn't pay me enough to even pretend it may have potential for anything other than flim-flammery and disaster to both the economy and the environment. There may very well be one born every minute, to quote Mister Barnum, but I am not that one.

tl;dr: "Thanks but a great big NO,Thanks! to NFT/Crypto/Whatever-you're-calling-it-this-week nonsense."
