I have a question about that gaming NFT you posted, Crypto. You said it changes over time - do the changes improve how that character performs in-game? For example, if a new player bought him from you, would having him help that player be better? That would be pay-to-win (also bad), but at least I would understand the demand. If not, then I'll ask for the...what, fifth time in this thread, why on earth would anyone buy it?
...the bottom line is a number of us are not only not interested but also not in a position to "invest" in frivolities like playing the various markets be they collectibles, stocks or NFTs. Some like myself barely make it month to month. We come here to procure the tools when we can afford to for creating art.
If everything relating to NFTs, the Discord thing, etc. were all just relegated to it's own site accessible through the NFT link on the top of the main page. instead of being splashed in our faces on the store page, during sales, and on the popup when we put something in the cart, it would be different. It's just getting a bit annoying. It's like watching a programme about the beauty and wonders of nature only to have it interrupted by petrol guzzling SUV advert tearing through forests, streams, and the desert (which is actually a very fragile environment). .
WOW, daz's first try at NFT's wasn't bad enough of a trainwreck in the forums, now they are starting a discord server and offering 'freebies' as a bribe to garner more interest. Haven't you learned yet that most people here want nothing to do with NFT's yet?
...and just to add to this, a very nice video about why the high price segment of the art market is a scam: https://youtu.be/ZZ3F3zWiEmc
And more coupons for joining the server. I wouldn't mind if it were a DAZ Discord, but it's the damn Non-Fungible People one - which I blocked on Twitter because I was sick of their retweeting other NFT crap.
NOT. HAPPENING.
....rather enlightening, and I do sense a parallel to the discusssion here.
There were also tons of people who thought that each and every person on earth would get enormously rich by the interwebz, until it turned out to be only a Dot-Com Bubble. And we all know (or should know?) who were the few who really managed to get rich and how they managed it, right? And what those people are trying to sell us nowadays...
Then and now, the people targeted by all those promises of effortlessly made big money are the same: those who are not tech savvy and looking for options to turn them in billionaires through "the next new sh*t".
History repeats itself again and again and again...
So how long are these discord deals going to last? I hope they don't replace the regular method of sales, because I don't want anything to do with NFT.
...and I remember when the dotcom bubble burst here in the Portland area they were calling the "Silicon Forest" Fortunately I was already out of the tech industry by then. Sadly one of the legacies it left behind was high housing prices that continued to skyrocket afterwards.
I'm not sure. This world is still to new. It's going to take awhile to know.
I hope you all have a good day, evening and night. Like or not like the NFT. Good for you! I'm going to continue to create art and do what I do.
Thank you all for being good creative people. I look forward to seeing what you create. Almost 20 years on this forum. Crazy fun to be part of such a community.
PEACE!
I too am getting sick of the incessant orange banner I keep closing
...and I got hit by a Cloudflare trying to post this.![surprise surprise](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/omg_smile.png)
For EU residents:
„Discord's privacy policy authorizes the company to transmit, collect, and process all chats, messages, and other data unencrypted for saleable data. By agreeing to the terms of use, you explicitly allow Discord to track and store the information from direct messages or sent pictures and voice chats. In addition, all data may be transferred to American servers. Thus, Discord does not ensure the protection of personal data required by the GDPR and is therefore not GDPR-compliant. Although Discord is also free in the commercial environment, it can therefore hardly be used there within the EU.“ (German Wikipedia)
This thread has now been closed - all positions have been thoroughly stated and expanded upon, and the conversation had become unacceptably fractious.
