Oh bummer, I did think it was getting better ... Thank you for keeping up with this matter AndrewJJP, and I really hope that someone from DAZ sees this and addresses the problem!
On second thought, I really do feel the recent flash sale with 70% off for PA items was a good one. Most of the ones before have been for DOs, and not-so-old PA items are not often discounted so heavily. Yes it started quite late, but not that late - personally, I only ever find time for these things right before bed, so 10 or 11 pm in my timezone suits me. It' not ideal of course. But I believe it's a move in the right direction. Maybe it's difficult for DAZ getting their timetables sorted, somehow? I'll continue to hope for improvement!
To be honest, it looks pretty much like the pattern for most of February: three sales a day, starting in the European evening and continuing through the night. No sales whatsoever during the daytime here.
I'll carry on monitoring, then maybe say what percentage each region gets. America has got 100% so far this month, so necessarily, others miss out. If this recent trend continues, Asia will get about 2/3 and Europe only 1/3. That's what happened yesterday for me, anyway, and also earlier in the week.
I hope for improvement too. I liked shopping here, but I'm finding this sucks all the fun out of it. I'm just constantly aware I'm not being offered most of the best deals.![sad sad](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/sad_smile.png)
I've missed most if not all of the sales you've posted, prolly because I'm either sleeping or at work... there were some good sales there... it's a bummer :(
One just started literally as I'm turning the light off.
i don't understand why they fixed it then broke it again. It wouldn't matter so much if the other sales were any good.
There was one at 3:00 AM as well, that one offering up to 79% off. It was only three hours long. An extra hour might have allowed people in continental Europe to catch the tail end, but that was too much to ask it seems.
So two sales yesterday, neither at a time convinient in Europe, and one had its length reduced.
Once more, there was stuff I wanted on sale.
I'm very pessimistic about this, given the issue was resolved, and now it's not. Maybe others are too. It feels to me that someone has decided these sales should be geared to the US, and if you're not in the US and you get a sale, lucky you. I can't know that, but I don't see why else they would regress to their old, unfair sales.
Okay, here comes another round - there's a flash sale for max. 70% off of a number of PA items on right now, I think it must have started at 7 p.m. Berlin time, so 1 hour ahead of UK I believe. It's set to run until 9 p.m. Looking good to me so far, pity's just that there's nothing in there that I want at the moment. Still, good thing I reckon.
I'm sorry I missed your reply. I monitor my little thread very closely, so not sure how that happened. I think I also missed that sale too, it's not on my spreadsheet (yes, I know it's not healthy). I shall have to check![laugh laugh](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/teeth_smile.png)
Anyway, I like to think I'm fair, so I'm going to say that there's one right now, which is unusually early. If they do stuff like that regularly, I may even start to buy things after my store credit expires! Maybe I'd even have bought a gift card if they did this yesterday as I would have been in a better mood... oh actually I wouldn't because they already sold me two, so store credit is not something I am short of...
...
Thanks! I've been meaning to say that I love that little animation of yours BTW. It's fantastic!
Holy European flash sale at 70% Batman.
And another! And a pretty good one too. It's 70%, but it stacks (so 79% for Daz+) and there are some nice HD upgrades in there which I don't think I've seen before.
I live in Europe (actually the UK) and normally work nights. I'm trying to work out it this helps me or hinders me regarding flash sales.
I guess if it's done fairly, it would make no difference because everyone would have an equal chance to access the sales regardless of their waking hours.
It's hard to know exactly what's going on right now, since one minute it's fair, the next it's not. Currently, I would say that on balance, it's about even so it should not make too much difference either way. In the times (which are hopefully in the past) when sales were MST-biassed, I would guess you would be ahead.
You'll get an idea of the early February sales from a GMT perspective here, but again, I should stress that currently it's not looking like this, it's more even.

The times along the top are in MST and the red box is shown across the hours of 10 PM - 7 AM IIRC.
Ugh, flash another sale that ended one hour before store change... I really don't get this. I saw it just a few minutes before ending, with quite I few items I would have bought, had it ended one hour later.
Maybe if it's set in stone that they have to be four hours or less, it makes it better for EST? I know the recent shortsighted (IMO) gift card sale was not great in EST (10 AM - 2 AM).
Of course if the next sale started after that, it wouldn't matter...
Before this year, I don't recall seeing a single flash sale that ended 1 hour before changeover, at least since I joined.
I think you are right, they don't appear on this chart I made earlier in the year,

I do have to wonder if it's part of them trying to be a bit fairer as although these sales are especially bad for Europe, they will benefit someone. That said, I am getting the feeling that we are going through a bit of a dry spell with flash sales here. But it's just a feeling. The problem is that people, myself included, will always focus on the sales they missed. I would need to go and collate all the stats again to work out if that's actually the case or not. But now I'm really thinking. When was the last time we had a morning sale? Maybe it would be nice to redress the balance with a gift card sale that people here can use?
WendyLuvsCatz kindly directed me here so I'm going to join other EU complainers. I guess Daz can say "well, we used to run flash sales through EU hours and they are not popular" but let's be honest. I'm not going to buy some 40-60% off product when I can constantly see notifications about 80% off sales during hours when I'm not up like apparently happened last night when for example Taurus was priced at $3.84 along with many other items on my wishlist.
Like I said it the complain thread. Would it kill them to sometimes run good sales starting around noon to 1 pm MDT. At least during weekend if the issue is that they are afraid of missing the US folks who are at work.
Anyhow. I'd like to say missing flash sales means I save money but many times I end up buying a product at a higher price BUT I have tried to focus on only semi annual sales deals. This month I've spent like $260 on stuff but most months I spend only up to ~$50.
Edit: Apparently it's more like $50-100 every month... but I had 7 months break in 2020/2021 and 1 year and a half break between 2018 and 2020 when I got fed up with all sales crap and various other breaks across years. Still somehow I have managed to spend $17,728.49 on stuff over years... yikes.
Was it? or was there an error which Daz Deals picked up? If there keep being good deals at roll-over then it may well indicate that Daz deals is getting confused or picking uop a momentary gltich, not that you are missing real offers.
Hmm. Could be a sales error then. I dug up the flash sales promo picture and it says 55% off or 65% for Daz members. I guess it stacked with some other discount to give the 81% off because of a glitch?
Maybe. Assuming it was during this month, 65% + 45% extra does add up to 81% off for DAZ+ members. I don't think this is a glitch. Rule of thumb, at least for me, if the discount is 70% off or more, chances are any other discount does not stack with the sale. Being only 65%, it seems plausible the stack was intended.
Cheers.
I was surprised to see my thread is alive!
I am at peace with this ![smiley smiley](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/regular_smile.png)
To be honest, I gave up with this after the gift card stunt. They even told me they were going to do it at 11 PM with something like "watch out for our 3 AM gift card sale." And I thought, "I know how you work, so there's no possible way you could keep it open to 4 AM US time to give Europe a fair chance. That's far too much to ask." I was right of course, the sale ran from 3 AM to 7 AM my time. I felt this was hostile, though in reality, it was probably just thoughtless... or was it... because it's not as if people don't constantly complain about this. Who knows? Who cares? The end result is what matters: no sale for Europe. And they also have SMS alerts that offer deals only available in the US, including giving away products I would need to pay for.
When it comes to my wallet, my opinion is what matters. And my opinion, which let me stress, is not something I am stating as fact, is that Daz knows they are not fair to Europe. They acknowleged it when I complained, sending the statistics to prove it, and people tell them time and time again. Maybe they keep forgetting they have customers outside the US, but (again) personaly, I think it's more likely they don't care. And that is their choice.
At the time of 3 AM the gift card sale, I decided that was it. I would not spend money here any more. I decided later that was stupid because they sell things that I want. But it also made me realise that 90% of my spending was stuff I simply don't need. So all I buy now is stuff that I can see a genuine and immediate use for, and that is very little. I will never pay a greater than that offered to the favoured timezones, so that limits my opportunities to buy those things. So all I've bought in the PC+ sale is stuff that's PC+ for the day because I know I'm getting a fair price. Even then, I have to want it quite a lot, so I've not been buying 5 items a day as I have in previous years.
Now, when I see that I missed out on another midnight sale, I just think that I'm doing the only thing I can do. Not giving them money. And I feel so much better for it!
And now I have said all this, I have no idea whether the sales are still unfair because I don't check them now... It's too late.
I think the only thing that will change my opinion is when we see regular flash sales that start at times inaccessible in the US. Sorry to my US friends, but that's fair...
I'm looking forward to the day I achieve this level of enlightenment and self control.
I was not aware of the SMS alerts. Does this really happen? I assume SMS thingy probably has some international roadblocks but because of that wouldn't it be better idea to have email alerts because they would reach everyone? I sort of assume pretty much everyone nowadays has email set up on their phones... right? Hell, even my parents have and they are way past 80. Well, at least my dad has.
I'd really like to know how much their sales comes outside US and which countries specifically - or at least what portion of the sales come from EU. I mean there aren't that many places for 3D hobbyists to buy stuff and while I don't expect this to be a hugely popular hobby I'd certainly expect most European hobbyists doing business here as well. Maybe they feel they can afford ignoring EU folks on this matter either because we are not a significant portion of buyers OR because they know we don't really have much of an alternative OR because they feel like they are being fair and those of us who are complaining are just a bunch of ungrateful whiners!
I'm not even *that* annoyed about the regular flash sales stuff. I'm more annoyed when I miss 20% off gift card deals since those have a huge impact. Actually I went many years without buying any gift cards because I didn't realize you could use them yourself. I only started buying them a few years ago (before the break I believe).
I'm also annoyed how complex these special sales things can get. For example now during semi-annual sale I have spent hours combing through all sort of combinations to figure out what combo actually gives me a discount on the product I'm looking to get and how it combines with other stuff that I might actually sort of want to get but maybe not now... but ooh maybe that 2.xx product I don't really need or even can use at the moment actually gives me the discount I want... but now it looks like it doesn't actually work on this product it is supposed to maybe work... or not???
It's just so much easier to buy the BYOB and Plat Club for a day stuff than figure out which two or three products you have to add. Here I actually have to admit Daz is giving very good deals,
I also found I skipped a few of the 80% off deals because they are part of a bundle I want to eventually buy (though might be smarter to buy them individually) or there's nothing offered that I want (not Daz's fault).
I'm also on the fence when it comes to getting stuff I want. I mean I've a library of more than 5200 items of which 2107 aren't even installed yet and most of the stuff I haven't used even once... so maybe I should focus on using the stuff I already have rather than buying new, but to be honest I probably won't install the stuff I ordered over 15 years ago since it's rather dated... (the first order is from November 2005... oh, how the time flies...)
For the record: My first order was Michael 3.0 on 2005-11-12 which didn't actually cost anything. My real for money purchase was a week later on 2005-11-18 and it was a platinum club membership for $29.95. I also did another purchase on the same day for $147 and of the items listed there I still use Spa of Juturna and Magic Falls.
I'm not generally that good at these things. I think it was that short break when I got really annoyed that did it. It just made me think "why a I giving this company money when they treat me like this"? And the enthusiasm never really came back.
Yes, it happens, because like an sale, they don't always work and people complain on the forum.
I believe the way it works is that you register your mobile, they send you a text, and you have to click a link / enter a code or something. I think they they text out codes to the phones that registered, but because I'm not in the US, I don't know if that's 100% right.
What I do know is that regardless of international issues there are other ways the codes could be sent that would give everyone in the world a chance to acquire core characters free of charge when they decide to give them away. Email sound good to me. There really is no excuse.
It just seems odd to me. Perhaps most people in Europe like to pay more fo things?.Maybe it's that most people in Europe don't know it happens so they don't know they are paying more? Who can say?
This was my problem with it. I gave some (friendly) feedback to support which said...
Gift card sales are not normal sales. They don't influence your spending for the time the sale runs, they influence it for weeks. I'm not prepared to spend 20% more than other people because of the timing of this sale...
Please, please, please can you think a little more carefully about the impact of these short-term sales. Gift card sales above all others need to be fair.
Now to be completely fair about this, I don't think they did it again. But is still staggers me that they didn't think it through enough to realise how annoyed people excluded from that particular sale would be. But in the end, I think they did me a favour.
I can't be bothered with it. If it's not simple, I don't even try!
I don't know how many things I have, but it's more than enough!
I've only been going three years. I started with G3 because she was cheaper, and I think Victoria 7 might have been my first purchase! Those were the days!
I very much doubt people wish to pay more. Especially now considering how high is the inflation. It's not even just food and electricity and other living costs but also gas prices are at the highest ever. I mean ours is over 2.56€/liter or about $10/US Gallon and they predict it is going to breach 3€ by the end of summer. This is really bad in a country like mine which is sparsely populated. I pity those who have to drive 50-100km to work and back every day. I find myself cutting a lot of extra expenses out of my life at the moment.
Eh. It's probably not that bad for me either. I'm using DIM so there are a lot of duplicate and even triplicate entries because of legacy and ps files and multipart installers - though I've tried to clean up most of that stuff when I do the installation. I did a bit of cleaning yesterday and it's down to 1739 uninstalled products but installed ones have gone up only to 3181. I think the realistic number for uninstalled products is probably closer to 1000. This of course not counting the stuff I have bought from Daz competitors but I usually install those asap since they lack the installers.
Sorry, I was being sarcastic! People in Europe don't want to pay more. Nobody does.
Here's my guess. If they run sales at times that are inconvinient to the US, then people in the US complain. We saw a couple of intstances earlier on this thread. They care about those complaints, so they don't run the sales. I cannot come up with any other explanation for it. But maybe it's something else.
I guess the reason doesn't matter. They can market products however they like, and I can decide whether I buy them. Unless they decide one day to ban sales outside the US which feels unlikely!
I just checked my support tickets and noticed they had marked my complaint about region-locked SMS sales as "solved" by merging it with my flash sales ticket which is also "solved". I know I will regret this, but I had to raise a reply to ask what the solution is...
Today there is a flash sale at convenient time for Europe. So what are you complaining about?
Okay, it doesn't work, but you should see it as the thought that counts...
