Did I miss the memo? Daz+ Discount on new releases now only 20%?

Or is it a glitch in the site?

All today's new releases are showing at 20% off (as a Daz+ member) for me.

Searched for some sort of announcemnt of a change and didn't find any reference.

"Save an EXTRA 30% OFF* ALL Daz Original Items - including new releases."

None of the 20% items is a Daz Original.

That's not the point. New releases are usually 30% off, not 20% off. New Daz experiment to see what they can get away with to turn into new Daz Norm?

  • well that certainly makes me feel justified in not renewing

  • The DAZ+ 30% off DAZ Originals is still in place. The 20% (instead of 30%) is a reduction in the discount for new releases which is independentof DAZ+.

Doesn't make it any better imho

True. And it makes me limit my purchases even more. I was just pointing out that it isn't a reduction in DAZ+ benefits.

  • Oh. I hadn't noticed that. Makes for a marginally lower chance of buying in release month for me. Only marginal, because my chance of doing so is not high at the best of times.

    Regards,

    Richard

  • This makes me even more determined to only buy at at least 70% off, I hesitate to buy at that discount also. The possibility that the items at one point turns up at daz+ for the day makes it feel stupid to buy at any less discount. Also; their NFT involvement and now less new release discount, the forums being broken all weekend.... this does not make me spend more than necessary here.

I'd be careful about expecting any sales strategy to be repeated in the future. For example, for a while they gave out free bundles of older characters with certain bundle sales. Not any longer.

yep. DAZ is for sure losing me, especially on new stuff and the way sales are conducted overall. For instance, having to buy x,y,z to get an extra % off  on something isn't a discount at all. We all know the game so no sense in going farther on it.  Seeing the 20% on new release is kind of a butt whomper.

  • Now it's only 20%? Geez, between that and the way Daz has jacked up base prices in the past couple of years (even on older items) well that's sure going to reduce the temptation for impulse purchases. Might as well wait for deep discounts. Sorry PAs, not your fault, but that's the result.

You're right, their sale strategie seams to be to give us less good deals, like 20% off only on new, and to make bundles of an outfit, to seperate it down to the smallest details, must make it more expensive, and 8 or 10 dollars offers for some stuff, like not a discount but 10 dollars for all stuff no matter how much they cost before. I'm not even tempted at the slightest at 10 dollar stuff, not when they used to have 1.99 - 2.99 stuff not so long ago. I'm like: you must be joking? I'm supposed to be tempted at 10 dollars when you used to offer at 2.99? A big fat nope from me. I'll wait and buy only what I can't live without at as low cost as possible. Wish I liked the other store more, mayby I need to learn to....

BTW --there is a DAZ Original in the newly released today that is on 45% off, not the usual 51%, so it appears to me DAZ+ discount has gone down as well.

  • Well the new DAZ original item from today is also only 44% in cart not the 51% we've been used to.

That's probably what the Daz+ 30% off of the now 20% new release discount would be (or however they figure the percentages).

51% is 30% PC discount on top of 30% intro discount. Since today’s items have a 20% intro discount it’s coherent.
  • The website is advertising 30% off for PC+.

That banner is talking about the extra discount members get on Daz Originals, which has not changed. What's different today is the intro discount on new items, which has nothing to do with membership.

So glad my store credit ran out.

Looks like pc+ or whatever wont get renewed either.

  • Hmm. So new, non-Daz+ only.

Was hoping it was a site error.

Meh, an extra $2-3 per item split between Daz and the PA from me.

Multiplied by number of purchasers, hopefully keeps Daz light on and PAs away from daily instant Ramen.

If I need it or want it, probably won't affect my purchase decison.

Agreed, this place just isn't what it once was in many ways. But DAZ is still my preferred shop.

The "buy this to get that" almost never works to get me to buy anything. I'm not going to get something I don't need/want to get something I do want. But, the strategy probably works well for new users. All the sales that require me to add things to my cart to see the real price are also a big fail for me. I don't enjoy spending time shopping to get the best deal possible, I'd rather spend time using the stuff. The increase in prices just means I buy less. Yes, I get it, the cost everything has gone up over the past couple of years. Unfortunately my income has not, and my free time has seen a dramatic drop in availability just trying to keep up with diminishing buying power (plus other personal issues that also cost more time and money). Therefore, I have to be quite frugal about my purchases here, increased prices translate to decreased purchases.

competition in the marketplace is a good thing. too bad there isn't much anymore.

Thankfully there are a few other options for me. I have started purchasing more content at the other place (starts with an R). Unlike DAZ, they have very simple and straight forward sales, so I don't have to play cart gymnastics to figure out what the cost really is. That saves a lot of time!! But you do have to be rather selective with the vendors there, many don't produce the quality I prefer. But to be fair, IMHO the big push for DAZ to have tons of new stuff all the time seems to have dropped the quality standards here too, so I have to be equally as selective. One big plus to the other place for me is they actually still sell a lot of type/style content I like ... sorry but I love impractical armor and fantasy/scifi skimp wear. That's what lured me into Poser/DS. I've tried to move on from it (I simply love Frazetta style art), but doing so leaves me uninspired and unproductive. I look at the V4 stuff I have, and really wish similar high quality sets were available now ... with improved textures!!

I agree that the current sales paradigm makes me really uncomfortable. It feels like Daz doesn't have enough confidence in their products that they need to force people to commit to buying ahead of time. The recent "Collect all 6 items of the Knight Series in 6 weeks" is a perfect example... definitely hoping things will turn around at some point.

How sad. frownAnother "Daz sales are not as good as they used to be" case. Although I seldom buy products during the "New" discount period, this move knocks my opinion of the Daz Store down another notch. The repeated and prolonged failures of the forums already reduced my interest in the store. Isn't it interesting that many of us tie our interest in the store to the ability to communicate and share here in the forums? Daz says we forum users are a minority of their customers, so maybe they don't care much about whether the forums work or whether forum users buy.

If it hurts their bottom line, they might reconsider, otherwise, welcome to the new normal...

If it weren't for the forums I wouldn't even know how to use this software. It's the only place I was able to get my questions answered. It's not like there's a manual or anything....

WONDER WHY SOME SUPER USER HASN'T WRITTEN A BOOK/MANUAL WITH ALL THE COOL STUFF AT LEAST AND HOW TO DO IT. sorry bout the caps... users used to write books on Poser ...and then there's the Bryce book by Susan Kitchens that was huge thick and was thee Bryce bible . DAZ Studio - nope.well, some older ones.

  • I'm also jumping on the at least 60%+ discount band wagon. The fact that DAZ abruptly makes changes to its membership programs with little to no fanfare and then seems to decrease what we get out of memberahip is troubling. I'm over it. I just won't buy new content. That sucks for the artists. I hope this change doesn't negatively impact their income.
