EVERYTHING has gone up. It's true. Makes me cry just to have to do grocery shopping these days.

True, but steadily increasing prices at Daz have nothing to do with the usual supply chain issues and chip shortages that are affecting physical goods. Daz's product is immune to those cost pressures.

The product may be immune to those cost pressures - but the PAs that create the product are not.

Nor are the consumers who they  hope will part with the gradually reducing spare bit of cash.

Yes but as Scorpio pointed out, that cuts both ways. Both creator and consumer are facing those pressures, so as far as a pricing model goes, they effectively cancel out.

And today they have a plus item (former platinum item) which is only 52% off instead of the usual 70%. Namely Enclosed Side Garden. Enclosed Side Garden | Daz 3D Made me ditch it too.

Between the lack of male content, tle lesser imagination, the higher prices and the discount devaluation on all fronts, the latter is probably the worst, the fun is going down the drain.

    It’s not a regular Daz+ item, it’s a Daz+ exclusive.

Is DAZ still taking its 50%?

In addition to the price increases and bad discount %, I have also noticed the "separates" products instead of full clothing products. In the old days we got all the clothing components in a single product along with included texture options.

I think they are still doing that but also breaking them down for ppl that don't want the entire outfit. Hopefully they'll continue to sell entire outfits. Buying a whole outfit piecemeal is a dealbreaker for me.

It also increases number of folders, as it looks like each item has it own folder, so probably even more that can go wrong.

  • The Valentine bundle looks cute to me, 51% off too

Can I suggest that everyone starts putting in freebie requests into the freebie forum. Many of the bits here and other sites are of adequate quality, some (like Rarestone's at another site and AllenArt's) are stunning quality that could easily be sold. Obtaining good quality freebies may well be the solution - or at least knock the spend back a bit closer to where is was 24 months ago regardless of price hikes and discount reductions. Also, with more 'turnover', it's possible more freebie creators could be encouraged to do a freebie or two. If everyone were to contribute one item that they can make well, that's would create a huge pool of freebie items.

    Regards,

    Richard.

  • I have found my purchasing here has taken a nose dive.

My last actual purchase was mid-December for a gift card.

My last purchase that actually used the store credit was on New Year's Eve. And that was less than $5.

I have to admit that I'm one of those people who prefer a clothing outfit being sold as a bunch of seperates, as there are too often outfits who come with only one item that interests me and 3+ parts I'm not intrested in..

I don't want to buy the entire shirt for $4.99. I only want the second button from the top. Maybe I pick up that's button's textures during March Madness.

Well, if I only like the dress, and not the shoes or the bag or the earrings that go with it, what's wrong with buying just that dress? Exactly the same thing you would do in real life, no? I like the separates, I only hope that they're not evolving into a kind of money-spinning thing where every button is indeed counted as a separate item.

I rather like having the option to buy separates too.

Oh, I don't mind them breaking them out in separates...I just hope they continue to ALSO sell the entire outfit together too ;)

One advantage of them being separate is they make cheap enabler items for deals such as "buy one new release to get X% off items in this list"

  • NorthOf45NorthOf45 Posts: 5,533

Yeah, but you have to buy at least 4 or 5 of them. Comes out to the same $$.

Don't know if it's related, but there's at least one item in today's freebie offerings that actually comes up at $1.00 (89%) off instead of, y'know - FREE!!

Probably the items which are also part of the vault sale. That was reported in the sales error thread.

I think the item is fixed now.

The presumption seems to be that this is a move by Daz, I can't help wondering how much input the PA's had and if it wasn't possibly requested by them.

    I totally agree with you!

..I've noticed that with some hair content as well.  The base product would maybe have 3 or 4 basic colour options requiring pruchase of a companion hair colour product it you wanted more, whereas in the past you got a up to dozen colours or more.

One comment I read from a PA that had a product released on Tuesday suggest (to me) that they were not aware of that move. That PA was wondering why the new release was selling not as expected (compared with previous releases).

  • New, non-DO releases for Friday Feb 11 are going for 30% off. However, new releases from a few days back remain at 20% off.
