The Toon Generations 4 Mega-Bundle for Genesis 8 at $4.99 USD seems like a good deal right now.

Yep. It's something I've had my eye on for a while, so I swooped on it this morning in case it was a pricing mistake.

I wasn't even planning to buy it, but I couldn't pass it up for that price.

they got me too after I resolved not to spend any more at DAZ after reading an article about DAZ's latest venture crying

    Same! blush

    Otherwise, rather middling deals today.

In any case, my glass is half-full no matter what. Either I get some great deals (yay!) or I save some money (yay!)

I am pretty underwhelmed at the new product discounts of 20% off one item, and 30% off two. The only real difference between March Madness and any other day were its new product discounts, which have always been 40% off one, and 50% off two or more for the past few years.

Having said that, I am confused by the prices I am seeing on the page, where the discounts are as lot higher. Non DOs are 44% off for one, and 51% off for two, so the discounts do not match what the product page says. So either the advertised page discounts are wrong, or there is a price glitch. I am guessing it is the latter.

It's worth noting that grab items are apparently $5 now.

Maybe it's just me, but is any one else getting the feeling that this isn't a very promising start?  A selection of $4.99 items instead of the $1.99-2.99 we've seen in the past.  Same old cut and paste assortment of "free with" items.  Really skimpy selection (15) of MAD related items, and many of those look like they'd actually be cheaper if they hadn't beem scooped out of the Featured artist sale.  And no GC offers.  Fortunately, today's selection of new releases are all things that I have multiples of already, so no mad rush.

I agree. plus expensive bundles as buy in items. the 4.99 items struck m right away, and all the hoops are ridiculous. I will be optomisitc and hope it improves, but the way its been going that is doubtful. All OK though, I'll save a lot of cash.

I'm trying to remember when I last saw a GC offer, and I think it was a while ago. Perhaps DAZ is scaling back on these too?

I picked up like seven things in the 4.99 group. Couldn't pass up the Toon Generations 4 and the T-shirt writing bundles. And I've always looked at the grasp helper tool and wasn't sure if it would even really work for my needs with animation (I'm sure for stills it works perfectly but I rarely do those anymore) so I figured for five bucks, I'll give it a whirl and hope for the best. And then there were a few other items that I've always waffled about wanting cause they looked cool and figured, eh, the price is right for the gamble of will I or won't I ever need it. I liked a couple of the new releases too but wanted to snag the 4.99 stuff right away in case I forgot to come back later on.

Any that do crop up (last one I saw was November) are almost always tied to a buy this thing that /you don't want / is over priced / you already own better / etc type deal

Like benniewoodell, I'm also intrigued by the potential usefulness Grasp Helper. The product is sparse when it comes to photos explaining its use. Can anyone share their experiences with this product? Might plunk down a few dollars it turns out to be worthwhile.

    Cheers!

Looking at my purchase history, the last one was on Feb 5, with the one before that on January 15th, so about once a month.

And yeah, the increasingly added requirements are annoying, but the value really depends on how big a GC you get.  I rarely buy anything less than $500, since if you have to buy a $15 item to get a card with 20% off, that makes $415 out of pocket for $500 spending for an added spending power of $85 plus whatever the item was essentially free.  I've bought a lot of weird stuff that way.  On the other hand, buying the same item and a card at the same discount for $100 is a bit dicier situation, since buying a $15 item that you'll probably never use is a lot of trouble to go to if all you're effectively going to get out of it is an extra $5 in spendable credit. YMMV

my largest GC ever was like $100, probably used for MM in the past.

My last GC purchase was 18-NOV. I could be wrong but I think that was the last time you could get 20% without buy-in.

I think my largest was like $500 with a 25% discount, which gave me a ton of free stuff, but I learned really fast that having GC funds makes me spend it MUCH faster

There's a whole thread about user's reactions to that product here: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/502451/grasp-helper-for-genesis-8-and-genesis-8-1-ideas/p1

We have reported the pricing issue to Daz.

  • davesodaveso Posts: 7,149

wow..not only were the prices on main page incorrect, items in my wishlist, which I was going to pick up, also dropped in discount. From 61% to 44%. That's huge. Well, the madness continues. I might pick up a couple of those 4.99 items, even though they probably would have been 1.99 before, but over 70% off is great, no matter.

  • davesodaveso Posts: 7,149

Blah - this isnt madness its misery. I just was going to buy some of those GRAB BAG items..my DAZ+ coupon does not stack ..then I just noticed the disclaimer in that category

"Cannot be used to discount items already owned.
Offer does not stack with other discounts."

This is happening more and more. Am I getting greedy? NO, I'm just trying to use my discounts. In the past, there was none of this hooey, the coupons worked.

Might want to change the title of the thread to March Madness... the only reason I posted a new thread was because I missed this one when doing a quck search for the word March.

I once had a spectacular combination of discounts and offers that gave me in the neighborhood of 40% off on a GC.   I bought more than a few GCs that time, since there's now the store dumbness that doesn't allow GCs larger than $500 but does allow several GCs in the cart as long as the prices are different.  For this and many other reasons, I'm convinced that DAZ isn't really in Utah, and instead exists just beyond a portal to the Bizarro universe.  This would also explain why you rarely see DAZ at conventions, the white crytaline skin being a dead giveaway

I had 4 free in my cart until the pricing all changed and I became mad and cleared my cart. I did buy 2 $4.99 deals though.
