    And then when the General Release version is launched, would I get any extra discount for having spent money on the first two steps?

    BTW, when I get access to the unlimited beta version, I may discover I don't like it, so would I get my $34.97 back?

    So are they inviting people to spend $34.97 to TEST something, and if they don't like it, phhhht, $34.97 gone, and no product to show for it at all?

    Acess means, as others have already found, that you get a serial number for the product - that is all that will be needed.

    Again, you would have a serial number - Daz has not yet chargd for a beta and then for the release version, and I would certainly not expect them to start now.

    This would certainly be a reason to wait, but it is your call. Though I thought there was something about early next month - if that did stretch beyond 30 days from the tail-end of November I would certainly be inclined to argue for an extension (with what success I can't guess).

    I appreciate having a few more details, in more understandable terms.

    Yeah, I'm out. Way too iffy for my budget.
    I don't think I'd need many of the $30 worth of goodies, either. *Emphasis on "need";-)

    But wow, the concept is fascinating. I'll watch others' experiences with it and then decide if it's right for me down the line.

    It's cool, too, that it uses AI to create characters. Much different from the utterly bogus use of AI to "create art!"

    I also think, that is a great way to incorporate a new technology to Daz Studio

    and I will be watching this area in Daz 3D development with great interest.

    It looks like, Face Transfer 1 is also improved.

    I have tested it on Genesis 8 - just need to have a better photo,

    but the conversion does not need any additional morphs to be usable.

    Need to edit somehow texture on the temples.

    It was certainly worth it for me since with discounts from punches, purchasing FT2 allowed me to get the Calypso Pro bundle for free. I know everyone has to weigh their own options but  it made me quite happy. With discounts FT2 with Calypso bundle and the last of the $3.99 items I had not purchased cost me $25 so major win for me

    No need to wait for FT2, while Face Transfer 1 works so well on Genesis 8 figures.

    The improvements are even more visible on the reference photos of older people.

    I refer to these as "Face Transfer stains". They come from the shadows that are present on most typical photos and photorealistic images. You also get white/too-bright areas that are from the highlights of the source photo. I spent two years learning various tips, tricks and techniques in Photoshop to improve the source image and the resulting mat file for this use. In recent months, I switched to using FaceGen-generated textures from the same source image that I used for the Face Transfer shape. FaceGen textures also have staining and whitewashing but are almost always better in this regard.

    On closer inspection from different angles, the issue on this particular character is actually more the whitewashed face than stains on the side. This image is typical of the last generation of my fully Face Transfer-sourced "instant people," done last spring/summer. (I redid this version just now with an updo so none of the face is hidden.) Most of these were sourced from touched-up source images but I rarely took the time to fix up the textures, hence why I called them "instant people." I could create one of these from a source in about two or three minutes and I used them to make product testing more fun. But they were never good enough in my eyes to use for my "real" characters.

    I have tried every Daz-based product I know of for this task, since my main purpose in even being here to begin with was to create images of my story's characters; it's literally been my mission in life. smiley There's something to be said for all of the products but as of today, I best like shapes created by Face Transfer (with Face Transfer Shapes) and textures created by FaceGen, and of late, I've been working more on G9 than G8 (thanks to the ManFriday converter). I am as anxious as anyone to see what FT2 brings to the table and I bought it the morning it came out. I guess we can all regoup once it hits the streets to exchange notes.

    Just one more Face Transfer 1 on Genesis 8 Male with expression applied,

    to check how it goes.

    I guess Face Transfer 2 will be even more advanced.

    In Daz 4.22 I go to help/about installed plug-ins..    and there's no way to enter a serial number for FT2

    It is a pre-order, the product itself is not yet available (look for a new Public Build to add it first, with the General Release to follow later).

    I know I've asked this before, but how on earth do I find the, "paste or type in your serial code* into the Serial Number field"; I'm not talking about FT2 specifically, I can't see the entry field for ANY of the serial number fields, including "Face Transfer" (which I already own!)  I've tried Pro, Beta, I've tried using the Purge Memory and Empty Scene scripts.  There is NOTHING in the "registration" column for any of the various plug-ins I have registered and the only thing double, treble or single clicking anywhere in the window does is DISABLE (grey then yellow padlock) currently loaded plugins.

    To enter a serial code, one need to start Daz Studio.

    Click on the Help menu and then click on About Installed Plugins.

    In the list that just opened look for any place that does not have green plug

    in Status column and asks to enter the serial number.

    After entering the serial number, click on OK, close Daz Studio

    and start it again.

    That's what I did and it doesn't work.  Using something other than Face Transfer to illustrate that this isn't specific to FT:

    Clicking on the yellow padlock does nothing.  Notice that there is also nothing in the "Registration" column for either "Animate 2" or "AniSound".  I assume Tati is hiding this for some reason, but it seems strange that I can't get the registration code by clicking anywhere and it certainly seems wrong that I can't enter it, regardless of the current FT2 instructions (the PDF download).

  • If you hav already entered the serial number the space will go - it doesn't stay around when it is no longer needed. Uninstalling DS doesn't remove settings, including serial numbers.

    Silently chuckling to myself that there's not a single product image with anything other than a straight-on shot or slightly turned at the most.

    Surely people can't be misled about FT capabilities twice?  The only way I'd consider spending money on this is if it fixed its depth issues by loading side profile shots too.

    While i kinda share your concerns about the depth, my opinion varies.
    I did not buy FT1 because of that issue. I was good without a full version.

    For FT2 however, i look at it, that i got it free for buying a package at a highly discounted price, that i probably would have bought anyways, sooner or later...

    was it a lure? yes, obviously.
    but on contrary to most shady lures i had to encounter during the past year, i consider this one as "not tainted".

    i purchased a genesis 9 pro package from my wishlist at ~25$ and got ft2 free.
    i think it was a good deal.

    (EDIT: and just to be clear: i am currently not really in the mood to defend anything regarding the DAZ store. I am really fed with all the errors, misleading information and the fact that i had to file tickets almost every month during the past half year. thats more customer support interaction than i had in half a century before combined - but particularly this ft2 deal, i consider a real nice treat )

    tried a few.. did not even bother.. ft1 was a nice idea, but not worth the time for me.
    i do not know if ft2 will be of more use. but i saw no risk. i probably would have bought the pro package, even without ft2, anyways, had one offered it to me at the same discount i purchased it for. (it was the sum of discounts that particular day - they added up nicely)

    I have both FT1 and FaceGen Pro, though not the G9 version of FGP yet (I seem to have sliipped a few versions and can't get much of a discount, if any, on the latest).  I'm not impressed with the FGP 3D and the author seems to be more intent on good textures which I don't need or want (I have lots of reasonable HD textures I can use).  This is disappointing since recovery of the 3D from a series of images should be well within modern non-AI image processing.

    For AI based processing depth recovery from a single PoV seems to be readily available; some of the models on HuggingFace seem to offer some amount of depth recovery.  It's worth remembering that we are pretty good at depth recovery even though our built in 3D is pretty bad.  My own stereo separation is just 70mm and that is pretty much nothing at more than a few feet.  We use AI internally to build models of the scene and fill in the depth; our AI is pretty easy to fool but given a real world image it works very well most of the time (driving, or skiing, in forests can be tricky).

    A single user will usually have only a single license, and will get no benefit from having multiples. If someone does need to have separate sets of authoriaations use separate user accounts to run each.
