And again that is a natural remedy that can react badly with certain prescribed medicines.   Nobody who is taking prescribed medicines on a long term basis should start using natural medicine or usiing homeopathice remedies without consulting their GP.   Willow bark would have had a disastrous effect on some of my late other half's medications.

Its pretty well tolerated its the same as asprin.  Its use used widely as mild pain reliving medicine even prescribe by doctors you can buy it in the health food stores.. Its not as bad as you think , But you are right you should consult your doctor before taking any herb if you don't know what it will do to you. That should be common sense.  In the Appalachians its a way of life to use herbals and know what they do. Sometime I forget how some folks don't have that kind of experience.

we grow some of the best ginseng you ever could use.  This is a picture I took when I pulled this black cohosh & wild ginseng root up this morning when i was walking around the woods.. its suppose to rain today so I'll leave it out a day or 2 to let the rain clean and wet cure it them before bring them into to dry it . I been planting stuff everywhere this week  that small raise bed garden has a100 onion sets and 24 cabage plants. after the threat of frost clears ina another week or two we'll plant the big garden

Anyway white willow is no more harmful than asprin. even the same side effect

Well, now... that explains a lot... I've always thought it was "insult your doctor"... no wonder they don't like me...

Well, that and the puddles I leave behind in the corner if they leave me alone too long... (canine rules... if you don't want it marked don't take twenty minutes to come back...)

    Oh well...

...agh been at the computer too much reading the morning news today..

When I clicked the forums tab I read "The Commons" as "The Coronavirus".

Need to get some coffee and go for a walk to adjust the eyes and brain.

  • It's important to note a lot of herbal remedies can have stronger than intended effects on liver, kidneys, stomach, etc, as its not always measured the same way, and can interact badly with medications, such as ptsd, anxiety, antibiotics, antiviral, etc.

That said, I'm learning some of the milder herbal stuff, more as a health choice than medicine. THey have Traditional Chinese medicine here where I live and they in the past several years have had doctors start checking patients for mixing traditional medicine with new/modern medicine (and sometimes having very dangerous results/toxicity that shows up a lot later). That's why its important to ask your doctor.

Well, I live in Italy, although I'm 5,000ft up a mountain, so not in the worst of it. But it's bad here. 12-13 days ago, the death toll was 20+. Tonight it was 1,016, with almost 13,000 infected. That gives you an idea of how fast it spreads. All stores except pharmacies, food stores and news/tobacconists are now closed till April 3rd, so if you want anything different, get it online. No cinemas, cafes, museums, churches, concerts, nada....

And the rest of Europe isn't far behind Italy. One of the factors that masks the numbers is the amount of tests each country does. If you don't do many tests, you won't have many infected people. (I reckon that's one of the reasons the US numbers are still very low). But France, Spain and Germany appear to be about 10 -14 days behind Italy in terms of the curve, so expect more lockdowns.

And another myth going around is, 'Oh, it's just like the flu!' Yes, up to a certain point, but it's 10 times more deadly, so who'd want to risk it?

Anyway.... I like the render.... especially the fact that it looks like you could catch every disease known to Man in that toilet! LOL!

So you can only buy, medicine, food, and cigarettes. Good to know other governments are as good at prioritizing as the US.

NZ govt allowed sales of alcohol as it didn't want hordes of people with the DTs on insane booze hunts. Same with cigarettes...a pandemic is not the time to be trying to alter people's injestion habits when also keeping them confined to home. Our peeps are allowed to go out for essentials which include food, medicines, fuel, ciggies and alcohol, and for a daily walk close to home, keeping two metres away from anyone not in your bubble. It's working, in only two weeks the infection rate has plummetted and we have had one death. Two more weeks to go of the lockdown and it's looking good to maybe going down to level three...still strict, but more businesses will be open again and not such stringent stay at home rules. But we'll be back into level four if more clusters occur. Pretty damn proud of my PM, Jacinda Ardern, and her government, even impressed with how the opposition have backed them all the way. Her mantra through all this has been: be kind, be safe, stay home and break the chain of infection.

Edit: just read the news of our second death from the virus crying

Passing away on the toilet.  Even royalty do it.  Catherine II ("The Great") for example.  From a respected source Robert Massie's biography "Catherine The Great", it is reported that she died alone in her necessary room unable to call her servants.

And, "no", that other story involving a horse is apocryfal.  Despite being called "The Great" she had her detractors who would have loved to spread scandalous stories.

A minister was interviewed this morning and she brought up an important point about the empty churchs.

This Good Friday and Easter is allowing Christians to go back to the past, and rediscover how the earliest Christians celebrated their faith in their homes within their family groups.

So, although I am not a Christian, I do hope that all who follow the faith, hold that to their hearts and talk to their families about their spiritual roots.

And we have it on the authority of the New Zealand Prime Minister that not only the Easter Bunny is essential, but the Tooth Fairy is as well. Boy, that woman is great!

Not to forget that there are countries - like Germany - where it's absolutely normal to get your smokes and alcohol in a normal supermarket or not so super market, which would make restricting sales a bit problematic.

Just saw this on DBL, a little kid rhyming something about parents moaning about being stuck with all those kids, and then saying, no one told you to have those kids! OMG!

I have been thinking that as I have seen folks whinning about being cooped up with their kids and spouses, in their multi-bedroom, muti-floor McMansions with rec rooms, libraries, full kitchens, living rooms, dining rooms, patios, back gardens/yards, three or more bathrooms...

Tell that to all the people that had to shopping carts full of tp. Apperantly, their end will come if they run out. Now, some of them will live forever.

The doctor's name was Al Cohol.

The Kinks did a marvelous song titled "Alcohol" done in the style of those English music halls of days gone by. "Oh, demon alcohol, sad memories I can recall..."

Caveman ventured outside today only to be confronted by blinding hot object in sky. Caveman frightened. Caveman retreated back inside!

One article I read about the Great TP Shortage of 2020 is that it's a supply chain problem. Office buildings, hotels, and restaurants mostly use the commercial/industrial grade 1-ply (garbage) TP. At home, people mostly use fancy 2-ply name brands. When people stopped speding 40 hrs/week in their offices and factories, pooping in the office rest rooms, the whole supply chain was unbalanced. Hoarding is only part of the problem. The rest is caused by a sudden drop in demand for the industrial grades, and a spike in demand for the home grades.

think a morning stroll will be nice

    video

...I've actually had dreams I was skating fast a couple inches above the ground like the guy in the green suit.

Yeah, been getting our for walks over the last few days as it's been the 70s (F) here .

Haven't felt much like commenting since yesterday as on the way home yesterday I came across a very tragic scene.
