Cat Zeus

  • Wow! A fine looking cat, Zeus, from Vysur! That little detail of the 'pocket' on the lower part of the ears tempts me even more to get this handsome kitty. I don't mind the head shape. Intact male cats develop wide cheeks, mostly it's fur. The bigger the cheeks, the tougher the boy. I think it protects their faces in a territorial spat.  However, saying that, the ones I 've known are complete sweeties. I think the outline of the cheeks' fur is too even and sort of , but close enough for many angles, maybe tinker with a little post work, if needed. The poses are much closer to a real cat's than among all  other cat models, in my opinion.  The expressions are good, I know the artist understands cats with those expressions.  Zeus will be coming home.

Yep, he's definitely better than any other cat model out there at the moment. Strangely, he looks even more realistic if you increase the size of his pupils. My cats almost always have their pupils pretty wide open, unless they're laying in the sun and have their eyes open ;)

Would love to see a grey fur.  Now if he had extra toes he'd look like my Willow.  smiley

I was looking for a cat (well, kitten). But not for Daz Studio. :P

I'm a total sucker for ginger, and tabby cats. So I've added Zeus to my wishlist.

  • Will there be additional textures (grey, white, black, tuxedo, various tabbies, turtleshell, etc.)? Also, what about morph dials for variations in muzzle, body and tail?

I was brought up with a great big farm cat who came to live with us when my grandmother did. He had been the farm tom cat, and looked a bit rougher round the edges; he discovered gas fires and stayed. If morphs are to be made, some ear damage would be good, just to show that he's been around and dealt it out when necessary. Ginger was ginger as well.

Not that I am a cat person. My dog is expecting food to be provided: each letter I type is an insult.

  • Well, I hadn't planned on spending any more money here this month, and now this guy comes along. LOL. I love him! Thank you for making him, Vysur! And yes, I will buy both Zeus and a cat from AM if he makes one. The more cats, the better!

Looking forward to more features. Thank you, Vyusur. Also, Zeus would make a handsome Scottish wildcat with a few adjustments.

Super cat, like Morris from the old 9-Lives commercials.

  • Just downloaded Zeus---installed size only 40.1 MB!

He's too toony for me. Still sticking with HiveWire Housecat, despite needing to use LAMH without the Catalyzer.

I like his hind legs way more that the Hivewire Cat. As for toony, no different than the realism in many of those DAZ Women. In fact, he looks like he fits in with them just fine.

I really like his feet too. They're compact and small like a real cat. I always disliked the Hivewire cat's feet, which look more like a cross between a cat and a dog ;).

  • I think the morphs look very useful. Any plans for animblocks or animations for Zeus in general? Will the hive wire or Daz House Cat animations work with it?

I agree in parts. It's true for most domestic moggies. But. I have to say our Maine Coon cats have snowshoe paws, and they spread up to 2.5" (6.2cm) across when walking on soft surfaces. The Hivewire cat paws are nowhere near that size. and look a lot less out of proportion than the real thing on our fleabags.

    Regards,

    Richard

As for animation, it's not my field of activity. Others figures animations will not be compatible with Zeus due to different bones names and structures.

Polydactyl and grey?... if Willow is overweight too I might have seen him before...

Even if that's not Willow, I'd still check their bedding and hiding spots for unauthorized technology and or stolen jewels.

I'd better check Willow's bedding and hiding spots.  There might be something she hasn't been telling me. smiley

  • In my renders of Zeus I wasn't getting anything close to the promo pictures. Sharp body lines instead of furry. dForce fur was installed and active. I switched the tesselation parameters  from 1 to 3 and renders are purrfect. We need more poses, furs and a kitten morph.

Finally was able to get  Cat Zeus ,my only complaint is I use 3DL ,not iRay ,and when I changed over to 3DL,his eyes go white ,no texture ,when I check the surface tab ,I discovered that the eyes are included under "skin" and don't have a seperate material zone ,which means I can't  change to 3DL ,the way things are .I would respectfully request that for the next add on the eyes be given their own material and setting .Please. Gonna try doing it myself which should be interesting .Thank you though for the new cat .

There is no reason to change anything for rendering in 3dl. Here is my 3delight render without changing a single shader from iray. And also Zeus does have all needed separate material zones, and of course, for sclera and moisture.
